Hope so. Most of the time, when celebrities come out, they say afterwards that they are very relieved that they did.

Shock horror. Who would have known.

Now if only Enrique Iglesias would join him .... that would free up Anna Kournikova from being a beard.

A celebrity waiting to come out until he wanted to sell a book? Shocking!

All we need now is for Louis Walsh to follow suit.

I'd be surprised if he did? He's always surrounded by cunts?

I always wondered why George Michael was so aggressively "alpha male" in the 80s, but others reckoned he was probably afraid being openly gay would alienate him/lead him to being taken less seriously.

Your idea of 'alpha male' is this?

Nobody thats the point, it is strange he kept it secret so long. It would be like Mary Harney saying shes fond of food, or Shane MacGowan saying he likes to drink once in a while.

I can just see it now, plastered all over the front page of the Indo:
    Harney - I love cake!

No doubt ther'll be a chapter based on the time he was raped by a woman whilst in America.

Woke up in New York City in a funky cheap hotel
She took my heart and she took my money
she must've slipped me a sleeping pill

Poor fella. Having to go thru that. Must have been awful for him. :(

You had intercourse with Tom Hanks on top of a woman from one of his videos?

    Yes. That is slightly homosexual.

    Yours not getting rhyming slang,

    Who is Tom Hank?

    Fail, a thousand times fail.

fyi the accepted slang is a 'redemption'

    Celebrity in closet gay shocker!!

What's the big deal... Most of the biggest Hollywood actors are closet cases leading fake, paparazzi lives. Someone told me that basically George Clooney is one of the only genuine straight actors in Hollywood.

There's also a certain British media mogul, multi-multi-multi millionnaire "talent spotter" who is lined up for marriage soon but is well known in the industry to be gay (Louis Theroux tried to out him long before he became a household name).

Is it not easier to just admit it and lead a normal life, especially if you work in a gay tolerant industry?

Because yes there's only one slang term for masturbation.

    Thank you Glenster. ;)

Not true. He's gay as well. The only reason people think he's straight is because he's often seen with a 'beard'.

    Simon Cowell eh?

I'm not sure I agree with 'outing' people against their wishes.

Granted if someone is going around criticising gay people and they themselves are gay that's different but if someone just wants to keep their private life to themselves then they should be let even if it's a complete lie and they're torturing themselves by doing so.

Ah well lads, the more pop stars that are gay the more talent that frees up for the rest of us. Just think about it, most women like the gay hairdresser type and not the football/rugby lad who likes to be downing a few pints with his mates bragging how much he can bench press etc. They should be glad we're around :).

And it's shocking that he has this "Lady's Man" "Womaniser" rep in the press. I remember seeing that one with Louis Theroux. Max Clifford wasn't long showing Louis the power he has over the press.

As for Licky. Ha, hardly the best kept secret in showbiz. It's like the time H from Steps "came out" on Celebrity Big Brother. Watching him whisper to one of the contestants that he "came out" before he went into the house was hilarious. They were just looking at him thinking "WTF? You're gayer than a handbag full of rainbows"

Yeah that's fine if a person wants to keep their private life private but when they spend thousands on a publicist to get papers to constantly print stories about their apparent John Wayne-esque heterosexual lifestyle it gets a little bit on the hypocritical side.

Complete with Hello magazine deals etc. Oh and paying a woman you just split up with a couple of million dollars/pounds as a "parting gift? This is another everyday thing that happens with amicable splits between boyfriend and girlfriend.

It also appears that Sinitta is a common girlfriend to these closet celeb cases, including Hollywood hearthrobs (though I'd like to think that's not true but I've heard it as fact*).

    *not from a boardsie :)

Very true. However people like Stephen Gately, even though it wasn't that much of a surprise to learn he was gay, was just doing his thing until a paper told him they were going to 'out' him and offered him the opportunity to tell his story first.

I don't agree with the media "outing" people, but then again he was selling the image of the Boyband to teenage girls so he shouldn't have been surprised when the press eventually came after him. And sure anyway, isn't he getting a train station named after him now, so all's good!

Very true. Although poor H will never get anything but heroin and a bomb named after him.

He looked pretty tough in that "Faith" video when it came out. Then again I was probably about 6 when I saw it.
