I hope he doesn't die, we haven't got enough railway stations to go round as it is.

All we need now is for Louis Walsh to follow suit.

Won't happen as long as his Mam is alive.

How can Louis Walsh be remotely in the closet? Sure he's seen around gay clubs from time to time hanging out with guys far too young for him. Didn't think he was making any secret of it, but then again, I guess there's a difference between what you do on a Saturday night and what you acknowledge publically or to the media.

That's the thing- he doesn't acknowledge it. I'm pretty sure I've read interviews where he's outright denied it.

See my post above. He won't come out while his mother is still alive. Sure he's from Mayo, it's not that surprising.

He's probably in there recruiting (for his next boyband.)

Ever notice how boybands always seem to have exactly 1 gay member? Seems a bit too evenly distributed to be true.

Now if only Kevin Spacey,Jamie Foxx,Oprah,John Travolta,Vin Diesel,Jake Gyllenhaal, that guy from the winning streak show etc, etc, etc would follow suit :)

I know. He should have said 'doesn't' not 'don't'.

    How embarrassing!

You can call me anything you like Kiera, just call me.

Yeah I suspected Mikey too for a while but then I saw him strutting his stuff on that ice-skating show and figured him being gay was unpossible.

(Sigh) As someone else already mentioned, gay men can't get pregnant. I just thought he may still be married or in a relationship with the mother of the children.

The real question we should be asking is whether he is a giver or taker

Although at least there's room for doubt in those cases (must say, I've personally never heard any rumours associated with most of those names) but this guy (Richard Simmons - hilariously, and scarily, Ned Flanders-esque American fitness guru) has even indignantly refuted it, ditto Cliff Richard (who is living with a former catholic priest "companion"). Maybe it's a generational thing with them, or maybe they're afraid it will damage their respective careers, as they're beloved of a lot of conservative christian peeps - especially the first guy.

    Who cares?

If you've met 10 people, you've met a gay person. Why is there a big deal when someone famous comes out? I mean, aside from whatever teeny-boppers that follow him - who gives a shit?

    Randy women.

That's what I meant. I meant he should come out.

I don't know why anyone needs to come out. I don't care what people do in private.

I don't believe people "should" be obliged to come out either, but equally, in the case of younger generations anyway, I don't see the point in denying it/pretending it's not the case when it's obvious it is.
As I said though, when it comes to older generations, there could be specific reasons besides simply not wanting the public to know... although angry protestations are probably only going to increase speculation.

I always wondered why George Michael was so aggressively "alpha male" in the 80s, but others reckoned he was probably afraid being openly gay would alienate him/lead him to being taken less seriously.

No, obviously there's no law saying that they have to come out :)
But it can't be good for you mentally to be living a lie, especially in the public eye. I do understand that older generations are a little different to us.
My dad has a friend who I strongly suspect to be gay- but he would never admit it because people like my Dad would probably react very badly.

Maybe a good policy is neither confirmation nor denial - e.g. Morrissey.
