Very interesting bout, could go either way, Abraham is the bookie's favourite but I just have a feeling about Dirrell. He was absolutely robbed in Nottingham against Froch and he'll be looking to get back on track. He knows that another defeat would basically destroy any chance he had of making it in the big time so it is definitely a must win and I believe he can. He is a very talented fighter, has good speed/agility and if he can stay out of a fight, pick his spots and fight a smart fight then I think he'll win by decision. Abraham is obviously very dangerous but he is a notoriously slow starter and Dirrell can capitalise on that, rack up some points early on and put the pressure on Abraham. As AA becomes more aggressive, he'll start leaving himself open and Dirrell can exploit that.
Maybe I'm wrong but I just have a gut feeling about Dirrell

I just can't bet against Abraham. He is too rounded a fighter. I'm sure Dirrell will manage to win a few rounds but when the chips are down AA brings out the big guns. I expect him to slowly begin to dominate as the fight progresses leading to a KO in the latter rounds of the fight. AA is pissed at the fact all three judges and the ref is from Michegan so I don't think he will want it to go to a points decision.

    nice shot from dirrell

I see Dirrell possibly ending this late on as Abraham becomes more desperate to get the ko. Those body punches are bound to have an effect late on.

These last few rounds are gonna be exciting. AA will give it hell for leather.

i expected Dirrell to be faster but thought Abraham's power would be the decisive factor, but his big punches had no effect on Dirrell.

    Dirrell bitched out.

Arthur was bringing the pressure and he couldn't handle it so he wanted a breather and his buddy called it a DQ win for him. The referee also didn't call the knockdown that Arthur clearly scored.

Dirrell blubbering and thinking he got ko'd now. I reckon it's all an act. Dirrell could win an oscar for that performace. He made the most of it.

Arthur was getting closer in those last couple of rounds. He was way behind but he may have had a decent chance at the KO in those last couple of rounds.

    Are you serious?

I was rooting for Abraham but he did hit Dirrell when his left knee and left glove were on the canvas and deserved the DQ.

Calling it all an act is bad form IMO.

I don't know what to make of that. I thought he was faking, but if so, all the confusion and crying after wasn't really necessary.

After looking at many replays I do think Dirrell was putting it on. After he was hit he looked okay and coherent for a second and when he fell he adjusted his arms so he would fall down without injuring his arm. What Arthur Abraham did was awful though. It was blatantly obvious he was down and there was even a pause for a second and he still decided to lash him one.

    Bizarre ending.

    Yes, I'm serious.

I really don't think he was hurt that bad. He made the most of an opportunity that was presented to him. Abraham was coming on and was going to have to go all out for the KO. I think Dirrell knew he was way ahead and could win the fight right there if he stayed down.

I may be completely wrong but that's what I felt when I saw it. It didn't look genuine and there seemed to be a delayed reaction from Dirrell.

Thank you Andre, I have 50 Quid in my back pocket because of you!!
Dirrell deserved the win, it was a definite DQ and Andre was well ahead on points anyway, I just knew he was going to pull out a big performance, his career basically depended on it and he didn't disappoint

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 118 ✭✭bamboozler

yeah def a DQ, not sure if he was fakin been hurt straight away anyway cos he was twitchin on the ground. dont know why hed bother either wen abraham was d'qed and he was winning on rounds anyway

Even if Dirrell was acting - which i really doubt he was, as he was winning comfortably and he had already taken some big shots from Abraham - there is no excuse for Abraham punching him several seconds after his knee and hand touched the canvas.
