nice cliffhanger, six months is a bit of a dose though,

thought it was a solid enough episode, the STO story was good, the power struggle should be great now that barnabus tired to kill clarice without permission, i can se him breaking away from the STO by himself,

it will be very interesting to see what daniel will do now, hes lost the bucs, and its looking like he about to loose his company, the best part of it is that neither daniel or vergis know how to make a working cylon yet, vergis chip works but only with some sort of sentience inside it that is able to learn, daniel might know what how it works, but has no template to create another avatar to put in abother body,

also will be interesting to see how the amanda storyline plays out, i know shes annoying as hell, but so was baltar at first, and this being in the BSG universe of ronald moore, amanda probably did see a ghost,

it does suck that it wont be back for 6 months, and i can deal with that, but its the casual viewer that watch it live in america, the people that the show lives and dies with, they might not be so pleased to wait 6 months, therefore ratings could take another big dip when it returns,

Just watching the show now - this is somewhat of a live commentary as such.
8 mins in, and it seems this is the episode we've been waiting for!

Finally we see what Clarice is made of -
did I miss something or is this the first time we see that
Clarice is in competition with Barnabus?

18 mins in... ugh more v-world!

22 mins - grow some balls Lacy, I'm getting sick of her.
lol love that they call it Eros Day!
haha thank God she blew his virtual brains out, but who would have thought that it is (future) new wife that was the v-world helper-woman!!!!!!!

    31 mins.....
    HOLY **** SHE KILLED HIM!

OH I know what's going to happen... (40 mins)
Clarice is going to see Amanda trying to kill herself and is going to get out of the car to stop her, just as the car blows up!
. well, looks like I was partially right.

Overall 8/10 for this ep. seems this is the answer we've been looking for, sending the show in the right direction! dunno how I'm going to wait 6 months.

from what I can see evolving, perhaps Vergis will get the contract and with Amanda maybe being dead what will Daniel do to get Zoë back?
If Amanda is dead, could we maybe see an Amanda avatar? Is this how we get different model cylons?!

Can't believe I'm gonna say this but I didn't like it. I have absolutely no doubt Amanda is alive and well. I knew Clarice would survive and I'm sure Daniel will create the Cylons.

You know why....... The opening credits. They aren't gonna kill off any of the people in the credits. IMO. Wish Amanda was dead. Can't stand her. I'd push her off the fookin ledge.

I think knowing that it was going off for 6 months ruined it for me. I just couldn't let myself get interested because I knew it'd end with lots of questions. And to be honest they were questions I didn't really want asked.

The 6 month break is a crock of schit. Are they taking a break so that they'll have time to write a proper ending if its cancelled? Thats weak. The 6 month break could be the reason for it being cancelled. I think I'm at the stage where if its gonna have a six month break every year then I just wont watch it until every episode is aired. I really like the show but this break is ruining the momentum. :(

Sci Fi have been doing the break for years though haven't they? I mean season 2 and 3 of Battlestar had it, it was even longer in season 4 cos of the strike.

Didn't love that episode either - and I have generally like dit up til now.

The murder of the boy nice and extreme, Clarice still annoys me.

Cylon is kind of limber ain't it?

Not sure where they are going now, the Cylon doesn't look like it could be force back if it didn't want to be.

Yeah they break up seasons all the time. Sick of it now tho. My desire to watch the show is normally stronger than my will power so I end up watching it the minute it comes out but my patience is wearing thin now. Can't believe it'll be freezing cold weather again before it comes back on. SUXXX ASSSS.

That's a long time to wait for the rest of the season.

Amanda will be fine (unfortunately), the chip and Zoe will be fine.

I saw the V-world twist coming, Evelyn wanted to know what Joseph wanted from the kid, so it wasn't a big leap that she'd follow him in. Especially with her comment about not actually looking like that. Oh well, got the mediocre SGU to cover the sci-fi fix.

    AWESOME episode.

Amanda won't be fine she's clearly dead. Thou I suspect Graystone will make an avatar.

Loving the Barnabus character. He clearly has his own agneda outside of STO. Plus i just tihnk James Marsters is a good actor and plays a good bad guy. Shocking pity Clarice survived but I guess it sets things up for a nice power struggle.

The big question I tihnk is will Zoebot survive the crash ? I don't think thats at all predictable. Theo other big question is what is the deal with Tammy ?

methinks actually that amanda will die, then daniel will make her an avatar that he will then use as a template to push the cylons into full production,

    I totally agree with this!

Hopefully Amanda is gone. Another fairly good episode. Loving the power struggles, Barnabas/Clarice & Virgis/Graystone. Not loving the wait for new eps.

Average ep. +1 for Amanda dying and all the rest. Can't stand the character. But her Avatar will be mentally unstable, Greystone has a week to make Cylons....ahh know what?

I don't care what happens now, Tribbles could invade Caprica and it be more interesting.

That was a finale to keep us going for 6 months? Pfft! 9 episodes of this show and nothing actually interesting happened. The characters are useless, the stories are rubbish. The only reason I have stuck with it is because of how good BSG was,I think Ill give it one more episode when they come back and if it isn't anyway half decent Im done with it.

I actually thought BSG had a bit of a slow start. Not this slow, but still.

100% what I was going to say.

I do think it was a poor mid-season finale though.

I honestly don't think this show can survive NOT having the outbreak of the war sooner rather than later. I mean, if they have it in their minds at the moment that this series will end with the outbreak of the war (say 4 series in) then I think the show will be seriously hard pushed to last that long.

i wonder why most of the new show released in the last 2 or so years, are alway cribbed and moaned about as being to slow, yet any show that starts out like a greyhound out of the block, is also cribbed and moaned about being to fast,

maybe everyone should write to all the studios and explain exactly what pace they would like each show to move at,

personally i think the show is moving at a good pace, i dont think it would work if josef was a judge right at the start of the series, or if daniel had the cylons in full production within the first 2 epsodes,(these things will happen over time, josef may not even become a judge during this series)

the cylons are a race that were created by humans, and evolved, that is what this show is about, if your expecting space battles and hugh cylons fleets, i honestly think you may aswell not bother watching this show any further, cause even of it does happen it will very minimal, the show is named after a planet, and therefore will be based primarily on the planet in question,

EDIT: this is a sci-fi drama action series, thus far weve seen all of these,

    To paraphrase:

*The show is doing very well, all the things you percieve as flaws are actually strengths. Say nothing if you have nothing good to say etc*.

Jesus, even Galactica did the dramatic non-space battle bits far better. If we criticise it is not because we have silly expectations, it is because we think it has been kind of average so far.

Didn't Ronald D. Moore even say himself that Caprica is supposed to a family drama, NOT a space battle show.

"different tone and pace to BSG"

I thought so too, but lots of posts seem to be calling for space battles!?

Which ones? I see a fair few calling for better characters, more direction with the plot and less filler alright.

Maybe you are simply equating Cylon war with space battles? I can see how you would but I would say alot of the initial fighting would be on the ground.

    It needs more SPLOSIONS!

I like it so far anyway. That last episode was a bit of a mixed bag (some powerful emotional stuff mixed in with a lot of boring stuff) but there have been quite a few strong episodes.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Moore can say what he likes, bottom line: ratings = renewal. If people find it boring it needs to change or be axed...period.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,913 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Its not just the lack of action - its just isn't doing the drama that (that BSG had between characters) as well.

Another thing: We know that Cylons are built that rebel and they (for some reason, now likely to be Zoe/STO) believe in one god.

Now that doesn't give the executives alot to work with IMO, I mean the path they are going down to show how the Cylons are going to believe in a single god has already gone down places I couldn't really have conceived personally. I just wonder how many series (even if it is not cancelled) they can get out of that aspect.

This episode didn't sit right with me. I think mostly because "it's the last episode for six months" was in the back of my mind the whole time. Might need to watch it again.

Some of the CGI looks pretty bad, which is annoying. Seemed to be a lot of CGI scenery going on.

Still, some great themes in this show. Disappointed there wasn't more of *something* in this episode -- and the six month wait is going to be killer.

Apart from some of the scenes in the Plan on some of the colonies I have always thought the BSG/Captrica CGI was excellent.

What wa sit in the latest episode that looked out of place for you?

EDIT: Something in Virtual world maybe.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,000 ✭✭✭✭opinion guy

    Lack of action ?
Lab boy got flung across the room and killed. Amanda jumped off a bridge. Barnabus was pointing guns at carious peoples heads. THere were TWOOOOO SPLOSIONS!!!!!!! What more action do you want in an episode ?

The ONE thing I thought was chessy was Zoe-bot's life flashing before her eyes. But this makes me think they killing off the character

Yeah, most of it is very good. Just a few times in this episode I thought it stood out, which is never what you want.

The scenes when driving stick in my mind. In particular the U87 in the truck. Ariel shots and various others seemed to be totally computer generated? The truck, the road, the ships flying above, everything. Something about the movement of objects and the reflections of light in these scenes snapped me out of the moment and then I was just checking out the computer graphics.

Also the robot itself.. as someone else said, seems a little limber. A lack of apparent mass in CGI is a bugbear of mine. If you're going to have a massive multi-tonne looking monstrous robot, don't have it pulling these quick ninja moves all-of-a-sudden, or operating a truck like it's second nature. Was surprised enough to see it fit in the seat.
EDIT: Something in Virtual world maybe.

V-World gets away with it imo :). Some of it certainly *looks* computer generated but then... it is computer generated, so that's alright.

Have you seen the average truck driver these days ???? :P But presumably if you were buidling a military soldier robot you would want it to fit into human sized spaces, no ?

On the lack of mass things. No I don't think thats a problem. For one thing - they may have superlight materials. For another you can overcome a mass problem by having more powerful motors. On the driving thing I think its implicit that Zoe knows how to drive not the robot
