    I went to see an Irish made film recently, it was called ''Eamon''.
    The story centred around a family consisting of two parents and a young child (bout 7 or 8 I think).
    He kept on calling his mother ''mom'' and it did my feckin head in, as I've only ever heard that term used within an American enviroment.

    Ordered me ma flowers, chocolate and a balloon off the internet last week, I'm kinda pissed off though cos they're fcuking tiny

    I'm Irish born and bred! Have never lived abroad. I honestly don't know anyone that calls their mum that. Well nobody of my age group anyway! (20s)

    It's Mom/Mum, always has been, always will be. Dubs and wannabe dubs are the only people in the world to say mam/ma. You really need to get out more and see the world...

    Mines mammy & my kids call me mammy.. I only get called Maaaaaaaaaa when they need toilet roll or they are starving... all the other times its Mammy..... Ive always called mine Mammy but I do feel like a big tool when Im screaming mammy across the road to get her attention & every other " mom" turns around...Now they're the wannabe " Mammys"....:D

    I find that very hard to believe.

    I call her "Mum" but often refer to her as "my mam" when talking to others about her. Probably stems from me calling her "Mam" when I was small. After that, I obviously became west Brit-ised... :pac:

    Homemade card, lovely plant and a box of After Eights. Interesting conversation at 7am when she wanted me to eat the After Eights (ewww.. I hate chocolate..).

    Then I cleaned, and shopped and made dinner (a martyr, me? :)) for her and my Mum. I made a chicken pie and she cut out a "M" and a "G" (for Mum and Gran) out of the pastry and put them on top - and then apparently had made me dinner..! :confused::P

    Best thing? She jumped on the rubbish in the wheelie bin for me without moaning. Priceless!

    One of my brothers got my Mom an iron for Christmas once. Then he took it with him when he went back to college, like, two weeks later. Another brother got her a wheelbarrow for her birthday. My family sucks at giving presents.

    I bought her a two bar electric heater. :eek:

    For my aul one it doesn't matter if its xmas, birthday or mothers day
    Just get her some Nicholas Moss pottery

    I cant see the attraction, they're all the same and a bit crappy but there's a corner of the kitchen devoted to him so it makes decision time a little easier anyway

    Just got my Mammy a small little card a kitchz little pink flower set in a ceramic pot shaped like a watering can. She was well chuffed, especially as she's currently getting into gardening on a massive level. :)
