Ah Mothers Day morning - garages everywhere selling overpriced cards and manky flowers by the truck. I've done it enough times myself

What do you Or did you call your mother?

    I'm a mam man myself.

Mum was always a posh boy's call around our neighbourhood.

That's a great question. I call my mom "Judy". She doesn't respond though because her name is Valerie.

Is anyone else peed off that you can't get Mothers Day Cards in Ireland that refer to 'Mammy' or 'Mam' or 'Ma'? They are all dedicated to 'Mum' or 'Mummy'.

I presume this is an English thing - I don't know of anyone who calls their Mother 'Mum' in Ireland.

Irish cards for Irish Mammies I say!

Totally agree, I prefer to give my mother a card with nothing on the outside (just a generic blank "flowery picture" on the outside type card) on Mother's Day than a "Mum" or "Mummy" card. It's really hard to get Mam or Mammy ones.

I can't stand "Mum" for some reason, just doesn't sound right to me- I don't really mind other people using it, but my mother has never been a Mum and if I have children there's no way I'd be a Mum either. It's Mam or Mammy- or around Cork/Kerry I like the way they say Mom, it's not the American Mom, it's the way they say it with the influence from Irish.

Anyway, I'm off to visit Wonderwoman, sorry I mean my Mam!

This 'mammy' thing is funny, I don't know anyone who calls theirs that.
