you can't blame his parents. he took the decision to take drugs, not them.

well i hope you dont bring up your kid(s) to be a drug addled idiot like Mr & Mrs Haim have clearly done. hollywood is fukin lol for this sort of stuff and when you compare all their opportunities and lavish living to the rest of the world and they still categorically dont learn the lesson then i say fuk em, they can all die in a big drug pit for all the good they do

I very much doubt they brought him up to be the "drug addled idiot" you see him as.
We all make our own choices at the end of the day. I feel for his parents.

Hollywood is not conducive to maintaining a clean healthy living but as I've just rambled on about "We all make our own choices".
Unless I know something the rest of the world don't know, I wouldn't just go off blaming his parents.

Eighties teen idol Corey Haim died Wednesday morning of an apparent drug overdose, according to Los Angeles police.
The Canadian-born actor, who starred in "The Lost Boys" but was probably best known for his roles with fellow actor Corey Feldman, was 38.
He was found unresponsive at his Oakwood apartment around 3:30 a.m.,according to KTLA-TV. His mother was at the apartment at the time of his death.
The actor, who has struggled with drug addiction, was pronounced dead at Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank.
Police were called to the hospital just before 4 a.m. to investigate his death.
Police sources told CBS Haim's death appeared accidental. Haim has been in and out of rehab and starred in a reality show with Feldman in 2007 called "The Two Coreys."
He talked about his struggle with drugs - specificially prescription drugs.
"I started on the downers which were a hell of a lot better than the uppers because I was a nervous wreck. But one led to two, two led to four, four led to eight, until at the end it was about 85 a day - the doctors could not believe I was taking that much," he told a reporter in 2007.
"And that was just the Valium - I'm not talking about the other pills I went through."
Haim's official website was last updated on Jan. 18 and promotes his upcoming film, a thriller titled "American Sunset."

    RIP :(

    you can't blame his parents.

course you can, his well documented hell raising began when he was a child actor.

I honestly don't see anything in that link that even suggests that his parents are responsible!
Did they hold his arm for the injections, or hold him down while the drugs were forced upon him?
There was others in the family - did they turn out the same?

Its always easy to blame the indefensible - and where's the proof anyway!

No way, just seeing this now.

    Truly sad.

Growing up, had a framed Lost Boys poster and Secret Admirer is one of the great 80's flicks (AH regulars will know that movie as you see Kelly Preston's boobs in all their glory).

Damn shame, he too much too young .. never got over going from A list to Z list, that was obvious.

There was also some bad stuff in his past that will no doubt be splashed all over the papers.

Put the recent Lost Boys screening at the Screen on the Classic Movies thread, which I wouldn't have missed for the world.

    Anyway, can't believe it.

    RIP Corey

Wow, you're an angry man!! Alcohol dependency kills loads in this country every year. Are you going to blame Irish parents for that too?

Corey had some great films in the eighties and I was a big fan. Condolences to the Haim family. RIP:(

I remember reading something about him (if its him?) making a comeback after the Lost Boys 2 film.
A sad sudden end to what could have been more precious chances in life. :(

IMDB for Lost Boys 2 mentions "Corey Feldman" - I'm confused.

Corey Feldman took up his old part as one of the Frog brothers.
I haven't seen the Lost Boys 2 but Corey Haim has second thoughts about being in it....think there are deleted scenes with him in it and alternate endings.
Think he does appear towards the end talking to Corey Feldman.

As JP Liz mentioned there in the extract he had a new film coming out-American Sunset so he was getting back into work

Think this is the first celebrity death to ever bum me out. Kinda like a big part of my childhood is gone.

Ok 80's fans, who remembers Lucas? :(

I remember getting this out on Video and begging the girl to let me have it in the Video Shop as she said I needed an Adult with me.

Damn Damn Damn Damn Damn... :(

I just watched Lost Boys again a few weeks ago. Forgot how good he was in. Such a natural, and hilarious too. I'll wear my Lost Boys t-shirt out of respect today.

I was just getting over the loss of Brad Renfro. Why can't fate take some Hollywood sap like Nicole Kidman, instead of them and River Phoenix. (Don't mention the drugs!!)

The best way to describe it is, he was supposed to be mega famous but only got slightly famous and as a result got more famous for failing to be famous.

The two Coreys were a huge phenomenon back in the day. They were like the Jedward of the 80s. So stfu. :D

And you're one of those people that doesn't mind the light-hearted touch when it's you doing stuff like early-hours flirt shite with your mates, but yet get all pissy if everybody doesn't toe the line that you feel is suitable for any thread you have a personal interest in.

Please quit singling me out for the latter.

Don't even chat about him! Nobody gave a rats arse when he died as well...Heath Ledger died around the same time. Saw a thing on TCM remembers-memoriam of all the actors/directors etc that had died in previous year and Brad was on it sooo bloated up from the drink and drugs was shocking :(

Brad Renfro was a waster. he tried to steal a boat while it was still tied to the dock. Got arrested for it.

Let that be a lesson to anyone thinking of doing drugs. Wait til you get away on the stolen boat before getting loaded.
