any comment to make on white lies monthehoops? or any hint to get excitement up?

What are the plans with camping etc this year? Seems it was a bit too successful last year with having to get the extra site at late notice? Anything more concrete this time? May use the new aldi depot:)

I can't confirm or deny anyone to be honest, sorry. Not trying to have one up on anyone but talks with most of the bands to headline are at an advanced stage and I've seen rumour & gossip ruin it before.

There's a new site this year since the old site is being ripped up. The new site is the Deer farm location on the old Dublin road. Camping and parking is on site so the camp site is literally a minutes walk from the main arena. As well as that, all stages will be indoors/in large tents. Added to that there will be an electro/dance tent this year.

sounds cool! is the new location a little bit out of town? If I recall that was a bit of a success last year, people going down to the town after...

are ye planning for a bigger crowd so this year or what, ye sold out last year iirc?

Best of luck with it all, I think ye proved wrong a lot of doubters in the area last year!

It's about 1/4 of a mile walk from the site last year. Do you know the industrial park that's newly built on the outside of Mitchelstown? It is just up the road from that.

The main difference this year other than what's already been mentioned is that we have on site camping and now a 4th stage. On top of that though, once the headliners are finished some DJs will be closing the nights so 3 of the tents will have DJs until 2am. Some of them will be accompanied by live music, some by percussionists etc. The plan is to take the vibe the festival created last year and take it up another level.

We learned a lot from mistakes last year, but it was a good introduction to Indiependence as a proper festival. We learned a lot from it.

oh I know where it is, know the area well... keeping people on site is a great idea... Will ye get a license extension until that time? it was a like once the bands were finished it was all over last year. bars also shut early enough so if ye can get over this it will really make the event!

I don't know about everything being over once the music finished last year, Glanman!! Did you stay on site, or did you go home every night? (By your userename, I'd say you don't live too far away from Mitchelstown and me; lol) There was great craic in the campsite afterwards..... everyone was really friendly, and it was tent parties a go-go til 6am every morning!! And giant soccer matches:D

But yeah, a later licence and DJ's playing after the music finishes can only make this already great festival even better!! Can't wait to see the line-up, make sure and keep us posted MontheHoops.........

Facebook now also says Reverend & the Makers ;) .

I'd expect 3-4 more bands to be announced in the coming fortnight. Reverend & the Makers will be supporting one of these..

Some great Irish acts on the line up too. It's truly international this year, with bands from Ireland, the UK, the States, Germany, Italy & Holland.

I'm delighted to see INdiependence getting even bigger and better!
I'll unfortunately be out of the country at the time but this looks to be great fun.
Only 3 years ago, it was small Irish bands playing and now we've got arenas and camping!
    Best of luck!

I expect some high profile acts with 33% increase in ticket price

Judas.... It's only €79 for camping, €59 non camping.

I think €79 is great value for a 2day/3 nights camping festival. How do you expect the organisers to charge any less than that ffs? They need to charge that amount to cover costs etc. The money they made last year has obviously been ploughed back in to this years festival as it's going to be much bigger this year ......... Roll on August I say!!

Reverend and the Makers have already been announced. Be great to see them live:

Last year a weekend ticket was €59. This didn't include camping because up until the week before the festival there was no camping. We only got the go ahead for camping less than a week before the first band took to the stage. Anyone who wanted to camp paid an extra tenner a night...or at least should have. I'll be the first to admit it wasn't ideal but it was well organised considering the time we were given to put it together.

As for money made last year, unfortunately that's way off. If we'd been able to announce camping a lot earlier we might have made something but since we hadn't budgeted for camping the extra security/barrier and general logistics costs took a nice chunk out of that.

Looking at the present line up*, I really don't know how we could possibly make it any cheaper. We're also hoping to grow it year on year. You can't do that by making a loss the whole time.

All for €79. I really don't know of anyone doing it cheaper.

*Announcing soon. We have one very hot iron in the fire.

P.S. I'd be interested to know what exactly anyone expects for €79/€59?

    EDIT: speelung

Can't wait to hear who's playing, definitely want to go this year if I can come up with the money. €79 is a really good price, no way am I going to any of the overpriced festivals this year.
