I heard something from a lady i know tis morning and it is disgraceful.
This woman has three children married like 15 years.Children between ages of 6 and 11.Her husband became abusive and was cheating on her.She asked for a divorce,First he wouldn't give it to her and wouldn't leave the home.Through all of this he wouldn't help with food or bills. She was scrimping and scraping even though he was in the house.
So it went to court for divorce. And the courts awarded him the house and the children and ordered her to leave making her homeless:eek: Then to make things worse. The Judge only gave her an hour a week to see her children  She is devastated :( She is living luckily with a friend who put her up.Through the stress and upset of it all she lost her job:( What is the world coming to.

Methinks theres more to the story than this lady is letting on. Don't worry yourself about it.

Link? This doesn't happen in Ireland even if the father is clearly the better parent to keep the children, so I find this exceedingly unlikely.

That's got to be the world's worst lawyer if (s)he could lose a case like that in Ireland. I, for one, refuse to believe any of this at face value.

She didnt have one, couldnt afford it and legal aid was a years waiting list.

A friend of mine kept the house and kids when he divorced the wife! It does happen, just not very often.

What we're probably missing here is her alcoholism and gambling problem which is why the husband refused to give her any money for food, etc.

Without a link, this hearsay is useless.

Hang on... she started legal proceedings without a lawyer and without waiting until she could get a free one? Swing and a miss. I still doubt the story is in any way true.

Unless a link and/or more accurate detail, I'll take this "tale" as pure useless gossip.

Fathers rights in this country are an EXTREME joke so even IF this story was true - there would have to be some EXTREME circumstances as to why such a thing would happen!

IF true - there is more to this "tale" than is being told.

Trust me they got a court date brought her in and she hadn't got a lawyer and the judge let it go ahead.

Sorry for your friend if this is true OP but right now it just sounds too far fetched. The court usually has more facts than us.

They said because she hadnt got money.

This isnt even about the house its about the kids. They took her kids from her and have only given her access an hour a week.If this was a man who got only that amount of access to his kids i would be saying same thing.

She must be a right baxtard for the house and kids to be given to a man. Or has she had a gender change operation? That'd explain it.

Joe Duffy... although I doubt even he would swallow this mess of half-truths.

If that fails Gerry Ryan always loves a good 'men are b*stards' story without letting facts get in the way.

It seems incredible to me that a judge in what I assume was the Circuit Court would not have adjourned the case until a mother who was obviously incompetent to represent herself (she lost her kids - in Ireland) was able to secure either a solicitor or legal aid. I understand all too well the 'absolutely no money' situation, but when your kids and your home are on the line you need to get help. I'd really worry about the mental competence of someone who would ask for a divorce without taking some legal advice and getting her ducks in a line - this wasn't done to her.

This of course is taking the story at face value, and assuming that the woman isn't a closet monster and the judge unusually perceptive, but that's only fair.

And they didn't make an order for maintenance against the husband?

Please! We are a social welfare state - and before the debate goes down that route also - there has to be more to this story than is being told!

    Q. Where is the girls parents on this matter,
    Q. Why are they not helping?
    Q. Husband/Partner - maintenance?
    Q. Who side is this version of events coming from? (A friends side? Biased? Friends of the woman involved conveniently leaving out certain details not advantageous to a possible fuller story?)
    Q. What mother would be so stupid as to not fight for her children by every means possible? And that includes allowing a state free appointed solicitor?
