ya they eventually want to be able to send the reserve medics, engineers and tranport guys over seas, and then some time later on in the future the regualar infintary might have a shot

    No.

They wanted to send a very small number of Reservists to serve with KFOR in specialist roles. That had nothing to do with a re-org of the RDF, our neutrality or any other nonsense. It was merely the PDF had trouble filling one or two slots in specialist roles, so a very small number of Reservists were going to be given short term contracts in the PDF. Reserve Infantry won't be serving Overseas, there is too much demand in the PDF for Overseas for the RDF Infantry to get a look in.

Since the recession kicked off, the whole concept has been knocked on the head.

oh right that clears a few thing up but theres def a re-org going on I went up to my local barracks at a look into joining and while there is a recrutment ban on they said they were re-org the whole thing and making it more professional

No. I'd be against it. I dislike the power of religion in this country. Last thing we need is that.

you could go anywhere in the US without a stupid visa, plus Id say the americans would build massive motorways all over the country (or as they call it freeways)

what would ireland need with massive motorways all over the country?? there is more than double the amount of people living in NYC compared to the republic, anyway we are getting there as far as motorways goes, we have a great road from dublin to belfast, dublin to galway, now we just need to complete the dublin to cork, cork to galway and dublin to limerick routes and we are sorted as far as motorway go, there is no point building a 10 lane carriageway from sligo to letterkenny for example because there simply isn't the traffic on that route

How awful, becoming part of or a protectorate of the United States of America would be a nightmare come true.

It’s more like time that Europe unites from the Bearing Sea to the Atlantic Ocean. I would love to see a United States of Europe to eventually take in all of Europe, all ex-states of the USSR, all overseas territories of European States, and the Asian & North African States which have Mediterranean Shores, i.e. the likes of Morocco, Tunisia, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon etc. obviously start with Europe. When Quabec finally gets independence we could let them apply, handy to have a beachhead in North America. Australia and New Zealand could apply as a European equivalent of Hawaii

As this unlikely I would be happy to have a United States of Europe to include all European nations.

    EUROPE YES - america no

Playing the devil's advocate here, I guess you could argue that Americans actually have the odd politician with integrity, and the two major political parties have some actual differences. Say what you will about the United States, they have slightly more of a choice than "centrist conservative party #1" or "centrist conservative party #2".

At least they've got Roe v. Wade, which is an inspiration to dogged social progressives like myself in our oh-so conservative Irish society.

In time, yes, it would not be colonisation, for one the overseas territories are already European in either character or administraion, the French territories already departments of France. I would leave the door open to ex-Soviet and Med countries, not force them. I am thinking this would be a 150 year process not a 20 year one. For the shorterm we can think all of Europe except Russia (too big as yet)
