Unfortunately no, as it turned up on another Irish board and a few of the usual suspects did much the same.

Scapegoat me eye. The only thing being attacked is our asylum process and our social welfare offices.

    Are you blind?

    Arrive in Ireland.
    Claim asylum.
    Claim Nigeria is dangerous.
Get asylum/ Leave to remain underthe IBC scam.
Go home to the country he claims to have fled and become King.

If he can holiday there, he can live there. Deport.

I can only conclude that you are trolling.
You keep repeating this accusation without any evidence whatsoever to back it up. Its you that is wearing blinkers.

    Based on the stats.

-Vast majority of Nigerians were, at one stage, asylum seekers.
-Work permits not issued to shelf stackers.
-He is now a taxi driver, so he wasnt here on a language visa either as non EU students are not allowed become self employed.

How else could he have got in?

great logic: just because most Nigerians used to be asylum seekers, he must be one as well?
How else could he have got in?

    marriage visa?
dual citizenship of another EU country?
had a job here, got leave to remain, then got fired?

there are lots of ways. Anyway, I don't want to argue in ifs and buts: unless you know he claimed asylum you shouldn't allege that he did.

    The question was:
how do you know he claimed asylum?

-Vast majority of Nigerians were, at one stage, asylum seekers.
But there is no suggestion whatsoever that Mr Agbaje was.
-Work permits not issued to shelf stackers.
Did you just make up the shelf stacker job?
-He is now a taxi driver, so he wasnt here on a language visa either as non EU students are not allowed become self employed.
Who said he is a self employed taxi driver? Another assumption?

How else could he have got in?
He might be married to an EU national. One of his parents might be Irish. He might hold dual citizenship....

It doesn't say that he was an asylum seeker, a shelf stacker nor a student.

Racists would assume he was an asylum seeker and a shelf stacker. I don't assume you are racist. You see the distinction?

Wow, such a fuss being made out of this just because he is Nigerian.

He obviously didn't get paid for the 6 weeks. I would imagine that it is unlikely that he got paid for 4 weeks.

Then there is the fact that Tesco are a right shower and the fact that a court ruled in his favour.

Finally, I am sure the €31 after expenses comments means he basically takes home 31 euro a week after he factors in the expenses of running the taxi as opposed to how much he after he pays for rent and food.

He got 10 grand and said that it was not enough. This is after, what, at least 8 weeks holidays in one year. He's taking the piss.

Of course if you dare question it, you hear the usual 'racist' innuendos from the usual suspects on boards, but this time round, it is a 'pogrom'.

And of course, some will use any opportunity to bring irrelevant crap like nationality and Pamela whatever her name is into a thread.

IMO, the award is OTT, but that's the tribunal for you. Wouldn't be the first time.

Its not just Pammy though, its 99.9% of them. Opposing asylum scammers is not racist, its common sense. Give me 10,000 Palestinians over one middle class Nigerian asylum seeker/economic migrant any day.

I don't see why it had to be dragged into this thread though!

Many Irish empathise with Palestinians for various reasons al right and have sympathy for their plight. Personally, I think if the same number of Palestinians were here, generalisations would be made by the usual suspects.

    I do not agree K-9.
If there were ten times the amount of deserving people here e.g. Kenyans, Ethiopians, or Zimbabweans versus the current number of Nigerian economic migrants, there would be much more faith in the asylum process and hence less generalisations.

Ah, but you'd still get the, they "get free cars and houses and 6 free buggies" etc. stuff.

I dont think so. The Palestinian people are going through hardships you and I could not imagine. There are many genuine asylum seekers, unfortunately that does not include 99.9% of Nigerians. They are economic migrants and fook up the process for the genuine.

Id happily see all asylum scammers deported and replaced by twice as many Haitians, Sudanese and Palestinians.

You're right. You'll get the lower-IQ people on the street staying that stuff, but the mainstream would be far more sympathetic than they currently are (as the asylum process would seem to be working correctly).

You are obsessed with racism, arent ya? An eastern european acquaintance of mine claimed that us Irish are as brainwashed with political correctness as eastern europe was with communism.

Sorry, you didn't get my posts.

It was meant tongue in cheek, but with most jokes, it's an over exaggeration of the reality.

No need to be so touchy. You'll be all precious about "racism being dragged into the thread" next and how you can't "tell it like it is" anymore.

There will always be somebody to waddle in and claim that any dissent on the issue is racist. Remember Paddy was once an immigrant too, so we are hypocrites and the whole world can come here if they so wish.

Yep and there'll be the "them Nigerians at it again" posters and round and round we go. I think you are being naive if you think Palestinians would be treated that much differently.

You should look back for the thread about the guy from the Lebanon and polygamy, common in Palestine too.

Would we want "that type of thing" here?

And I think that you are too cynical to believe that it would not be the case.
You have to first realize the root cause behind the distrust of the majority of Irish people when it comes to the asylum process and Nigerians.

To be fair, there hasn't been much racism in this thread; just xenophobia.

You would have to wonder how many of those who are throwing around the racist/xenophobic/pogrom accusations pay into the system that supports these economic migrants. I imagine that this small minority actually do not have the privilege of seeing the deductions in their wages, which is used to pay for the welfare/legals costs of these claimants.
