with mature cheddar, thinly sliced raw onion & tabasco or some chili flakes! Mega

Fcuk the butter and lemon. This sounds nicer.

Ham, egg and cheese for starters, mince and blue cheese for seconds and ice-cream for dessert.

One year I made a crepesagne - 8 layers of crepes with bolognese sauce, bechamel and cheese up the wazoo. It was very, very good.

Yep, gorgeous. Cook one side, then turn it over. Put the toppings on & then fold it in half. Flip over to make sure its nicely cooked. Its not as nice if you just put the stuff on top before you eat it.

I can't believe the amount of people who eat jam with their pancakes...I've never seen anyone eat them like that before.

The savoury ones that people make sound yum, I might have to give the one with cheese, onions and chili a go!

I make pancakes nice and thin, the entire size of the largest pan I can find. Might even be classed as a crepe, but GTFO of my pancake making ways if youre calling it that.

I'll have a few with lemon and sugar then one monstrosity with vanilla vienetta and hot chocolate syrup. Delicious!

Still recovering from the Polish Fat Thursday last week. Thats way better as you can eat anything. Ah go on then, if you must - vanilla ice cream and kiwi's.

So where can you get fresh shroves tho ? ;)

I'd be a lemon juice and sugar type, but years ago I used to frequent a Dutch pancake restaurant in London, and I can remember liking apple & cinnamon. I suspect stilton might be nice if you're that way inclined.

A bit of butter, then maple syrup and ice cream *drools.

I'm not usually a foody-type snob, but "maple flavoured syrup" really has nothing on the proper stuff.

Some good chocolate spread (not the mankey hazelnut shite), ice cream and maybe even some chopped up biscuit (i'm thinking caramel digestives) is also a good option.....
I'm eating a pancake RIGHT NOW.

    ya mad thing :D.

    my faves are:

    spinach and ricotta
mushroom sauce (w garlic butter n some cream)

    and for dessert,
    poached peaches/berries w cream
chocolate sauce w toasted hazelnuts n cream
    fried bananas w honey

and when those fillings are all gone, apricot jam or fresh lemon juice with fine sugar
    mmmm
    :D

20 posts and no mention of maple syrup?

    What's wrong with you people???

    Maple syrup is for waffles.
Lemon and sugar is for pancakes.

I probably won't have any this year though; my Dad always makes them but this year I've too much college stuff to do to go home. I could try making them myself but it would inevitably be a disaster.

    Applesauce
    Maple Syrup (real, not flavored)
Fried Bananas with cinnamon and a touch of brandy :)

Also sometimes put sliced bananas in the pan and then pour the batter over them to cook. Serve with butter, sugar and a little cinnamon. Soooo good!

My new nephew just arrived today in the world has been christened 'Pancake' by his Grandma!

As for Shroves, I think you can get a pack of six in Lidl for 0.99
