Maple syrup is used to fry

Does it really go well with the cheese and bacon?
    Savoury and sweet
Depends on the chesse, really. Red cheddar works best or anything with a smokey flavor such as Emmental or Gouda.

I hate when places say they're serving pancakes and all that's on offer are those shite ones you can buy in a packet, which taste nothing like pancakes and more like stodgy bread.

Agreed, pancakes have to be just out of the frying pan or else they are rubbery mankiness.

This recipe will serve about 3-4 people, averaging 4 pancakes per person)
Get 6 oz of flour, a 2/3 pint of milk and an egg. Mix together until it's a slightly thick paste. Pour into a skillet or pancake pan and heat for a few seconds until it goes light brown and solidifies. Flip it over and brown the other side then lift off with a non-stick spatula.

Alternatively, if you like thick pancakes (the glorious crumpety kind), add a bit more flour to thicken the mix.

I have cooked them plenty of times, and I made the mix before, but that was quite a long time ago :P

They're not that hard to make. Just imagine yorkshire pudding batter without the salt. For extra taste, I like to chuck in about 3 tablespoons of sugar in with the flour and a pinch of cinnamon.

    Mmm. Sugar.

My Favourite ones are just suagr and lemon.

Last year I made a complete pig of myself.

I made one and had chocolate, strawberries and cream on it. I could only eat the one its so filling. So this year im gonna stick to sugar and lemon so I can have at least 3 !

The Catholic religion seems to be highly focused upon rituals involving the consumption of sweet foods?

So I was just wondering what do the other major religions offer in this regard? I was thinking I might switch to whichever one can provide me with the highest sugar intake.

You don't find the fact that this one day of consumption should ideally be followed by 6 weeks of fasting a tad unappealing?

Ooh, fried sausage straight out of the pan wrapped in a nice thin pancake.

Then you get on to the sweet fillings.

I love them with just sugar and lemon too!
I lived in France last year though and they have anything and absolutely everything with their crepes, and they're all delicious! Pancake & Nutella was massive over there, and a cheese and ham crepe was also really popular! :)

My usual joie de vivre is nowhere to be found today.

Couldn't be arsed having pancakes. :(

What you need to do is starve yourself for most of the day, skip dinner entirely and shovel in as many as possible before the pain in your stomach forces you to stop (for a while!). As for the filling, blackcurrant jam and lemon, loads of lemon - and lemon first so it soaks in! If you do this right you should easily manage 8 to 10 good sized pancakes.

    I LOVE PANCAKE TUESDAY:D
