I do and I don't agree with this.

Do - If you don't feel capable of getting beyond it.

Don't - If you've just realised your diffences are too great, but you've always had the best laughs together.

Exes shouldn't mean the end of friendship unless the feelings are still there for either party. The reason I say that is because I love being in a strong friendship with a guy before the full on relationship, its too much to give two fingers to.

Imo, you can never sever a deep friendship, I never have. I hope I've put that across well, I'm still in touch with my exes. No, its not because I think a part of them will always belong to me sexually, its because we've always shared a laugh and theirs a friend that needs me as much as I need them. Sometimes they put your day thats heading down the bowl right back up. I won't appolgise for being friends with an ex for that reason.

Thats what real friends do imo.
ok i drunk...unfotunately she was my best friend and the only person i trusted knowing me...that is over...i severed my best friendship and this is twice in a few years, worst years ever.

'till my current i've always fb'd my exes

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,750 ✭✭✭liah

Yup, all of them. They were all serious, long-term relationships. I still talk to each one.

If any current had a problem with that they'd be out like a shot.

Removed one, another one removed me, never bothered adding a load when I left Bebo (ugh!), never even bothered adding a few more in the first place...
So that leaves 2 who I haven't removed due to having good mutual friends. Never really chat to them, and if I did it would just be innocent banter, so can't see it being an issue for my "other halves"

I deleted her from my facebook, and now because her account is public, or because we're friends of friends, I'm not sure, I can still see it.

So I still check up on her now and again, though I wish I didn't. We only broke up when she went to France and some day I'm gonna see that she's engaged to some sweaty Francois with a beret and a pout and that is gonna be a stinger.

Just on the old stalking subject, one of my exes that I'm not friends with is always popping up as "add a friend" does this mean they are trying to view my FB?
They haven't added me as I've never had a request from them and we've only one mutual friend on FB.

No. That way that works is Facebook compares your contacts and suggests people you 'may' know based on your mututal contacts and possibly friends' mutual contacts. It's all rather complicated but has nothing to do with a person's actions, just who you know.

No, they may be a contact from your email address or else like you said, mutual friends. Don't worry I'm sure you aren't being 'stalked'.

No i removed her recently, weight off.

Wait - i thought you were a girl ? ....wait laser-beam ???? OMG where's that flirt with thread gone ?!?!!?.....
Facebook is the single worst thing for relationships since cheating began!

Look at PI you will see a rake of threads about husbands "emotionally cheating" by talking to exes on FB.
Major +1. facebook changes the dynamics of relationships and not in a good way. Hence i disabled it.

    genius
Of course I'm not. Never end a relationship on good terms unfortunately :(
    ditto

Ok see this I don't get liah. If you are friends with them and still talk to them. Presumably you would help each other out on occasion with advice/help etc. So if you find a new beau and he doesn't like it, you would discard your ex, who is now your friend - yes ? Why would you cast a friend aside, regardless of your prior history with them, because a new guy is too childish to deal with it ? I've known some girls like this who will ignore their friends in preference for a new guy and it always strieks me as very shortsighted and foolish. And indeed I've been the one cast aside. I can tell you I'd want to hear sincere remorseful apologies before resuming such a friendship if at all. So i'm curious to understand your reasoning if you don't mind to discuss.

She's on stalkbook. of course she is being stalked, by many people.

Emm, well yeah, with the nice ones, though I don't have much interraction with them! And I think so on the latter.

Still friends with the (recent) ex on Facebook. I ignore her wall posts and don't intend to 'stalk' her until I'm fully over her... at which point I probably won't give a s**t if she's changed her relationship status or not. Simples.

No, he's not in my email a/c and the one mutual friend we have is fairly inactive.
I always see the same people pop up to add so it's often been a wonder.

I think she's saying that the boyfriend would be out of the picture, not her fb friend.

I've just deleted my ex as a friend on Facebook. I don't know how anybody can get over their ex when they go on to their profile and see who they've been talking to.

All contact has to be removed imo.

    Let me see...

I have a few ex-lovers and one ex-boyfriend on FB. I get along with all of them. Some are married. Some have kids.

Am studiously avoiding friend request from another ex (Mr. "Mothball Underwear") because I don't want to know or hear about him. Yuck.

I'm more concerned with ex-co-workers or school buddies than ex-partners. Who the hell wants someone you knew from high school knowing what you're up to? How about your ex-boss?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,461 ✭✭✭Queen-Mise

Not a problem for me only had a few long term relationships. And the two of them died, one in a hit-and-run and the other commited suicide a long time ago. My current relationship im in 11 years.

What was upsetting recently was I got in touch with the brother of one of them on facebook. I heard the details of event around his suicide. Brought up memories of a long time ago.

Can't imagine why you didn't keep him... :p

Yeh I really don't think it'd healthy checking up the whole time on the ex, it only makes you hang on to that connection even if you're moving on in this 'real world' I've heard so much about.

Plus you've the whole psycho sh1t of exes making comments/deliberately posting stuff so you'll see

Unless a lot of time has passed and/or you've both come around to being friends then it's run.....run away!!
