    Well said.

Celebs stroking their egos but a lot of good is done: A bit annoying.

People banging on endlessly about celebs stroking their egos and not acknowledging that a lot of good is done: Incredibly annoying.

I never doubted that the money is going to good use,but do you not think that they're taking advantage of the situation?,Beyoncé for example could donate 500,000 as stated and make back a personal 2 million in further publicity afterwards,i mean i'd love to see how much Bono profitted after live aid. They're all *****,doing a selfish deed and portraying it as a selfless deed,i dunno,i support haiti but not they're little publicity stunts,i'll be giving my money to other schemes but not through theirs thats where i stand after watching the programme.
So how do you expect them to do anything for Haiti? Sure they can donate their own money and nothing more but why do that when they can hold a concert where they donate their own money and get a few thousand other people to donate aswell.

Seriously, being good to others means others will be good to you. Stop branding them selfish just because they did something good.

My band organised a gig for Haiti in the Button Factory last night, place was pretty packed. Havn't counted it yet but we're hoping for about €10,000, with 750 capacity at €10 a head, plus a raffle and collection tins. It'll be going straight to Partners in Health.

I am indeed a man. We didn't quite raise €10,000, but it's definitely over €5,000, we don't know exactly how much yet.

Maybe the money from this gig will actually start feeding people. I was talking to my cousin on skype earlier. He's a fireman in the Dominican Republic and was part of the S&R team. From what he was describing it seems like a lot of macho posturing going on between different military camps and competing to come off favorably in the public eye. He was saying that very little aid has been distributed to anyone and people are going a week without food even though lots of packages are on camp sites. I donated a grand to his fire unit and i specifically said it was to be for food distribution as the search and rescue seemed to be going strong. That was Wednesday when i transferred the money and the food was bought on friday. But it was taken off them by the US army as they are co-ordinating his team. He said it still sits in a tent 2 days after they receieved it. I mean what the fúck. That's disgraceful if everything he said is true. That was my money and i wanted it to go towards feeding people over there. Granted it's a majority rice and frijoles and water but it's a meal and who the fúck is anyone to stop that going to the people. I'm trying to find out who i can complain to.

All those people criticizing, seriously shut up. I'd like to see you donate $500,000, its not as if she was forced to do it, she did it of her own free choice.

Hmm.. Beyonce is worth $315 million. She donated $500,000. She has 630 times what she donated! Like if I have €6.30 in my pocket and give a cent to Haiti. Wowza!

And **** this awareness rubbish. Awareness for the celebtities. I'm pretty sure I heard about Haiti from the news. And I guess the celebrities did too. They do it for themselves. If they didn't do it for publicity then how come I know that Leonardo Di Caprio has just joined the "1 million for Haiti Club". Some status symbol now.

In perspective, Oprah Winfrey has a personal fortune of $1.5 billion. There are talks among world leaders to cancel Haiti's crippling $890 million debt.

ARGH!! Boggles the mind when I see all these smug loaded scabby cnuts asking common folk to dig deep when their combined wealth adds up to billions!
In a special two-hour broadcast on Monday night's Larry King Live, Hollywood stars helped raise nearly $9 million for Haitian relief efforts, a rep for the show tells UsMagazine.com.

Jennifer Lopez, Paula Abdul, John Mayer, Scarlett Johansson, Ryan Seacrest, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden and countless other stars participated in the event called Haiti: How You Can Help.

Wow $9 million from viewers. And Scar-Jo earns that per film.

What sort of publicity has anyone to gain out of this? Nobody is going to go and see DiCaprio's new film purely because Di Caprio gave money to Haiti. Likewise, nobody is going to buy John Mayer's album because he gave his time and effort to the appeal. I'm not gonna start watching the Ellen show because she was answering phones all night. And I don't think any celebrity is a better person for doing the telethon than a celebrity who didnt do it.

In a couple of months time, most people will have forgotten the appeal and who even turned up. Nobody is going to turn around and say "Oh remember that Haiti Earthquake, man it was cool what Beyonce did". So this, doing it for the publicity theory is bullsh!t.

And yeah maybe Beyonce only gave 1/630th of her wealth or DiCaprio gave 1/1000th of his wealth, who cares, its more than giving nothing. Once again, in a couple of months, everyone will forget about that aspect of it. And no celebrity is going to benefit from this. No celebrity is turning around and saying "I GAVE 500 THOUSAND DOLLARS, YOU ONLY GAVE TEN DOLLARS, IM BETTER THAN YOU"

    Something about sandwiches

    ^ regarding the above point.

If Leo donates, it makes him look good in the public eye, so movie directors are more likely to hire him and people will like him and will pay to see whatever film he was in. Same with musicians and concerts and all that.

If they didnt donate and were caught out being stingy, everyone would hate them and nobody would cast them in movies coz people would boycott it. simple as that.

Bono should start donating that tax he's not paying.

Ah, the celebs, they never miss a chance for a bit of publicity. This tragedy will
ignite many a failing career. But, if it gets people to donate, then they have achieved something. Now, all we have to hope is that the donated money is actually used, and used wisely. That is the biggest challenge.
