Those people could probably bankroll the entire country with their loose change. Still, if it makes them feel good about themselves whilst they back slap each other in front of a worldwide audience, who am I to question their motives?

    It's poetic licence.

Why don't all those rich gimps just give a couple of million each? It's pocket change to them. Simon Cowell and Bono are organising a record. Cnuts

    Lack of publicity that way.

Many celebrities and wealthy individuals have donated some of their own money though, but there's less media coverage of that than a huge "Live Aid" type concert. For instance, Sandra Bullock gave over $1 million of her own money (and fair play to her, has to be said), and most people haven't heard about that. Thing is, she seems to genuinely care about the people and not the publicity. Though some in the concert have also donated substantial amounts of money.

    Oh dear god.....

How the hell do you know they aren't doing this for the good of the people in haiti. They aren't being paid and they're performing for charity. So what if it benefits some peoples egos, atleast they did something.

It's just started on tv3 now, for anyone who's interested.

Just switched it on to see Bill Clinton talking about his honeymoon in Haiti with Hilary Clinton, 35 years ago, shortly followed by Madonna doing an acoustic version of "Like A Prayer".

Shortly before that was Stephen Speilberg taking a donation call & mumbling something about generators, followed by an interview with a survivor who, quote, "has not recieved medical attention, but still look beautiful".

Just have it on now. Saw Sting, Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera and Madonna singing. Stars like Julia Roberts and Stephen Spielberg answering phones.

A doctor was talking there now about some of them using hacksaws and vodka for amputations:eek:. What do they do with the vodka? Pour it over the wound to sterilise it or do they give it to the victims to sedate them? Jesus! You'd need to give someone an awful amount of it to knock them out. How would you be feeling wakening up. Doesn't bear thinking about:(.

wonder if they're also accepting money for all the iraqi's they've killed and the palestinian war they're funding

Had to turn it off when Madonna appeared, she irritates me so much its actually quite frightening.

The more I watched of it the more annoyed by it I got. Why cant they just sing their own songs instead of trying to manipulate the watching public into digging deep into their pockets by singing the saddest songs possible. And dont get me started on the phone calls between the celebs and Joe Public! Waiting for Bono to appear any second to announce that hes talked to God and that its all fixed up and we can go to bed!

Use the vodka to clean and sterilise.

Most of the celebrities performing have donated, AFAIK, Beyonce donated $500,000. There all just trying to raise money for such a tragedy, which in my opinion is a very kind thing for them to do. There giving up there spare time, especially the people in London, where Beyonce is. She performed her song at rougly 2:30 a.m. in the morning like.

Poor Beyonce, having to stay up late on a Friday night & having to root around the back of her couch for some spare change. Must be horrific for the girl.

Someone actually mentioned today at work that Beyoncé's really generous to charities.

Cripes - there should be an appeal fro Brad Pitt's beard - that's a tragedy of it's own.

My prayers go to all in Haiti and the families of those. I'm not very religious but may god bless them and help them in their time of need and may us raise an abundance of money to help:)

Come off it - age may not have done him many favours, but Tom Hanks was never that good looking. ;)

Christ, Jay-Z, Bono and Rihanna all on one stage...it's like all my nightmares come true.

Bono should start donating that tax he's not paying.
