No water for 5 days, NAMA robbing us and bailing out the f##kers who have taken our jobs and homes, governmant protecting bank shareholders with our grandchildrens earnings, taxes sorry "levies" increasing, Developers private assets protected but family homes reposessed, schools closed last week as the councils are without grit in more ways than one. etc. etc. etc......

Anyone know, able to persuade, or is there any general in the Irish Army willing to be a patriot and stand up for his country against its government? Can anything other than strong central command save us now???

Well, there are probably more TDs than Irish soldiers.

This is why guns are illegal in Ireland - we have a history of taking over.

Military Coup? Sure why not. I've a couple of RPGs in the closet that are only gathering dust.

No we've a long history of trying to take over and failing miserably in the face of a better armed and professionally trained force. ;)

I would hardly call the right to our own freedom as 'taking over' .

Of course we're on their side.

I mean considering all the damage they've done to this country, I just want to shower them with hugs and kisses.

How long, how many minutes do you think it would take for the state to fall? Although the UN recognised Irish government seems to be permanently in exile / holidaying abroad anyway?

It would take about zero minutes.

Mainly because it's never going to happen.

Once we put FF & the Greens against the wall and take them out Caucescau style - there would be no UN recognised govt. They will have to deal with me us directly. Comrades.

The only way I could ever see the Army weighing in on the issue would be if the Government of the day denied the public elections indefinitely.
    Which would never happen.

There's no constitutional limits set on the amount of times a referendum on a single subject can be called, nor set time frames which re-runs have to abide by.
There are set periods for Governments to sit during, after which an election has to be called.

Lads, lads, lads... start small. That allies didnt go straight into Berlin now did they.

Objective one : capturing a command post from which further advances can take place.

I propose Cowens caravan in Connemara.

Mission codename - "Biffos bunker" :D

That's guarded by Mary Harney and a pack of rottweillers. We will need to bring a side of ham.

And also a big stick for the dogs.
