    HD footie rox!

Who said UPC were nasty people who were awful to deal with...take it back! ;)

Funnily enough, without contacting UPC, I received ESPN and ESPN America tonight, BUT not ESPN HD. Odd, as I'd thought they'd all appear at the same time, or not at all.

HD provisioning is on a separate system to the other channels.

Yes!! ESPN and ESPN America both came through for me this morning. :D

Biggest problem with all these channels is it takes much longer to find out there's nothing on :D

    Interesting, thanks.

Pity UPC doesn't have a web forum for tech support (as O2 now does). This place is an excellent source of info! And they'd save themselves a fortune in handling unnecessary phonecalls from confused users like myself!:)

upc.nl have support forums on there site so I see no reason the Irish site should not have one!

Do you have the rest of the HD stations?
I only got my HD box this week and I had all the stations but NO HD ones.
So I called em up and it turned out they had not enabled HD content for my a/c.
Yer wan (v helpful and nice UPC phone girl) did it on the phone and voila, HD ESPN!
The burd as delighted - Milan v Genoa live last night with Becks in all his HD glory! Even I fancied him he looked so clear!

Errr.. yeaaaah... That's not exactly the reason I want ESPN HD, but it will be great to get a proper HD sports channel. :p

Really? That's odd. If so, I don't think you're missing anything, as ESPN HD is just a straight HD version of the SD channel, if I'm not mistaken.

Can I sue UPC for false advertising? :D;)

According to this link it clearly says that ESPN is included in the Sports and Family sports pack yet directly below it it says

"Digital TV: Three different channel packs to choose from: Value, Select Extra and Max. ESPN is included in the Select Extra and Max packs. All packs have channels to suit every taste, from Boomerang for kids, MGM for movie buffs, Discovery Travel and Living for the adventurous and more."

I have the family sports pack and still have not got it unlocked.

didnt upc say it would be done in a phased process...so it may take up to 2 weeks before they go through every account and manually add espn..did you ring them.?

Can ye check out the following? I have basic analogue and am thinking of getting an upgrade to digital.

    http://www.upc.ie/television/selectextra/

It says 32 bucks per month...

    This part really confuses me...

    Existing analogue customers:
€10 extra a month to enjoy lots of new channels and Digital+. We'll also connect you for free if you order online.

Assumes Analogue TV customers are paying €25 a month.

Will this cost me 32 or 35 quid a month?

UPC say over the phone that it will cost me 35 quid a month.

Yet, I can push through an order online for 32 a month.

In the same boat - send them an email on Monday - no reply! from reading the other postings your best bet is to phone which is what I shall be doing first thing in the morning - want to see the 5.30 game on Saturday !

No reply to the email but ESPN & ESPN America added Friday afternoon.Phoning them with your account number handy is the better option from my experience.

Yeah ESPN, ESPN America and ESPN HD have come through on the max pack in D5.

Also noticed the Disney channel is on the Max pack, how long has that been there?

Just been on the phone to UPC, got a very good deal out of them

Previously paying 105 a month for:
    Digital Select 28
    Digital Plus 5
    Sky Sports 30
    Broadband 10mb 32
    ESPN Premium 10

Just offered me the following for 96
Digital Max including Free ESPN + Free Digital Plus 34
    Sky Sports 30
    Broadband 10mb 32

Asked about the Fibre Ultimate package that has Sky Sports, Digital Plus HD, ESPN, Digital Max, Anytime World and 15mb Broadband and it was confirmed to be 70 euro for first two months (free sky sports) and after than 95 including sky sports but was for new customers only.

    Hope that helps people out.

I was reading the list of channels on UPC Ireland on Wikipedia and I noticed that ESPN Classic is included on the list. Has anybody gotten that yet?

ESPN Classic is for people on MAX pack only not Select Plus.

I have it and it's rubbish.

Aw c'mon Ranicard,it is not 'rubbish'!

for older lovers of sports it provides them with nostalgia, for younger viewers it provides famous moments from sport they never got a chance to see!:)

If I could give my access to it away I would give it to you and that might double it's viewers.;):D

It is popular in the USA,In my case i wish it had more boxing in it's Library,
also it is ESPN UK which means it will not have acess to Irish sporting events:( hopefully that might change?

also imagine if Italia 90 was not just a 'phrase' but was available to see again, match by match!!!!!!!

I think ESPN classic is quite good, nice to relive some moments of sport again. If you don't like it, don't watch. There are other channels that I have that I don't watch, I don't care. There are plenty of other stations to watch.

Really impressed with UPC at the moment :)

Italia 90 : Ireland V England was on ESPN Classic this morning !

ESPN Classic is a good channel and a welcome addition (since Aug'09) to the UPC line up

I was just checking the E.P.G. (Chorus cable version) for today and on the ITV4 listing for 6.30 this evening(Guinness Prem. Rugby highlights), the details say " Not available in the Republic of Ireland". Does this mean that the channel will have blocked access at this time?- which would be a first for U.P.C. This is the programme presented by Craig Doyle, but I was able to watch a repeat of last weeks show on the channel on Wednesday(?) in the clear. Perhaps rights belong to another channel at weekends.

If it is it would be a first for cable in Ireland. However if this is the case, and if you really do want to watch the Guinness Premiership highlights, they'll be on again on UTV at 12:25am tonight and any time I have watched them on UTV, they haven't been blocked.

AFAIK no channel has Guinness Premiership rights for ROI so really there shouldn't be a problem showing them, unless ITV are playing it strict here.
