    Hi all,

I got an Iphone recently, it's unlocked and I'm using it on meteor. I've been trying to set up the MMS messaging but to no avail.

    I've set it up with the following settings;
    APN: mms.mymeteor.ie
    Username: my
    password: mms
    MMSC: http://mms.mymeteor.ie
    MMS Proxy: 010.085.085.085.8799
    MMS Max message size: 307200

But they won't let me send or receive an MMS message. Its an iphone 3g with version 3.1.2

I've been trying the various settings stated on the forum but they aren't working for me.

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be going wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

Dude thank you so much. MMS finally working on my iPhone 2G after 2 and a half years of hearing from my friends, "oh your €400 iPhone cant even send pictures that my crappy €99 one can". These are my settings which work perfect for data and sending and receiving mms's, i used Popple3's carrier package to make the APN'S stick as the kept going blank on me, after installing the carrier package you will have to change the MMS Max Message Size from 0 to 307200. Reboot afterwards and it should work perfect.

    Cellular Data
    APN: data.mymeteor.ie
    Username: my
    Password: meteor

    MMS
    APN: mms.mymeteor.ie
    Username: my
    Password: meteor
    MMSC: http://mms.mymeteor.ie
    MMS Proxy: 010.085.085.085:8799
    MMS Max Message Size: 307200
MMS UA Prof URL: Leave blank

    Bingo, your a lifesaver!!!

Hey there, does it matter if you are a PAYG customer or bill pay for these settings? I am PAYG. Also i dont have an option to turn EDGE on. I have an iphone 3GS. Thanks a lot.

As far as I know, the settings should work straight away on the 3G and 3Gs... It works fine on my 3G. The only problem with settings sticking was the hack for MMS on the 2G iPhone

Also, does the phone re-lock on a tethered jailbreak? O_o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 102 ✭✭mozil

Yes the phone was originally unlocked by a company in Dublin but relocked itself soon after so I unlocked it myself with blackra1n

    Search cydia for meteor...

Some nice chap has created an MMS settings bundle / carrier logo for the iPhone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 102 ✭✭mozil

Have downloaded that bundle but it says that I have to restart the phone for the settings to take effect and If I was to do this the phone woul rellock again.

all you have to do is make it rain again no big deal ,unless im missing something else ?

It just means that it's going to restart the phone... not that it's going to reset and wipe everything.

    Trust me did it myself.

I downloaded the settings from Cydia, everything was going fine. I tried to connect the iphone to the laptop to try out the tethering, turned it on. iPhone synced and next thing the option for tethering has disappeared. Has anyone else experienced this? Anything i can do?

Does anyone else have the same problem on the iPhone as me?

I put in the Meteor MMS settings, then when I exit the menu back to the home screen, then go back to the MMS settings page the settings have gone!

It's really annoying me as I can't recieve picture messages cause the settings keep dissappearing!

If you've used any other automated tools to try and add in the meteor settings previously remove this program first as it will constantly re-enter the details overriding the meteor details.

Happened to me with my first gen iPhone.

    Actually I think I found a fix:
Set the settings in the settings page ( :P ), then turn off the iPhone and back on. This made the settings "stick" for me.
Still not sure of the reason they are deleting themselves though..

    BTW I'm using a "factory unlocked" iPhone 3g v. 3.1.3 (and it's not jailbroken)

No username or password are needed for the data apn. Try my and wap for username and password. You can try 9201 instead of 8799 too.

Cheers Chrislad for your suggestions but unfortunatly there were to no avail. Do you have to reboot your iPhone after cahnging the MMS settings for them to configure? Any other suggestions would b appreciated.

No MMS for original iPhone. You can manually input the settings on the 3G/3GS methinks.
Once I'm on 3.1 I'll have a look at the carrier bundles. They may have simply changed certain data in them, that needs to be changed in the custom bundle.
Should have 3.1 installed this weekend

Have you installed 3.1 yet? If so, does ur MMS work?

I was having the same problem a while ago and those settings you have listed above are what solved my problem. I'm running on 3.1.2. I know it's annoying but they have worked perfectly on my iPhone since November and I don't have anything downloaded from Cydia. Your APN for the cellular data should be data.mymeteor.ie. I don't know if you have just made a typo but from experience the reasons these things work for some people and not for others is because of a small mistake that just keeps going unnoticed.
