Another Brilliant Ryanair Retort

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/0104/ryanair.html

A UK watchdog has criticised Ryanairs credit card charging policy.
So instead of making themselves appear right, Ryanair just made their opponent appear wrong.
In an interview with the Independent newspaper, John Fingleton, chief executive of the OFT, attacked the company for fees that could be added when customers pay online.
Ryanair Head of Communications Stephen McNamara said: 'Ryanair is not for the overpaid John Fingletons on this world but for the everyday Joe Bloggs who opt for Ryanair's guaranteed lowest fares because we give them the opportunity to fly across 26 European countries for free, £5 and £10.

'What the OFT must realise is that passengers prefer Ryanair's model as it allows them to avoid costs, such as baggage charges, which are still included in the high fares of high cost, fuel surcharging, strike-threatened airlines such as BA.'

So would the Ryanair haters here complain about a five euro credit card charge when their the competitors (aer lingus and british airways) have higher charges ingrained in their fees...and have the constant threat of a strike looming?

Do you work for Ryanair or something? Why is this a thread?

So, Ryanair were criticised and instead of responding to that then bleat on and on about how they think they're so awesome as opposed to answering the fucking complaint?

Oh and some inverse class snobbery, for good measure.

How typical. In before slackjawed cretins decide that they really need to post how awesome Micheal O'Leary is and how he should be running this country.

    Bingo!

That's not brilliant, that's childish bullshit.

Michael O'Leary should be running this country, if he imposed €5 on every credit card transaction a lot of the people who are currently in debt wouldn't be.

    </sarcasm>

    I like Ryanair's responses:
Ryanair is bad for X, Y and Z reasons
I know you are but what am I?

Yeah, the same way you avoided discussing the thread content in order to get your slack jawed comments in.

God, everytime Ryanair are criticised, they counter-criticise the organisation that criticised them, then blab on about low fares.

here's an idea...if people don't like ryanair then don't fly with them and quit moaning, it's a business not a bloody charity

Well I personally won't be happy untill someone gets sick in one of their sick bags/film development bags, pops some film in and then sends it off to the company to be developed :D.

Not sure if they still do those, but if they do it would be awesome.

I'm sorry but you just can't help but to love this company. Ask yourself why the OFT are not moaning on about any other world airline that charge such fees. They don't because they know ryanair has the other European airlines by the short and curlies.

    Fair play to ryanair
    Fair play to stephen McNamara
    & Fair play to MOL

Were would we be without them? Prob paying Airlingus or BA for a flight that we can't board because some little jumped up sh1t wants and extra €20 in his wage packet and doesn't care if his insolvent company can't pay it.

So if I'm reading the responses above right,

It's OK to charge €5 per item if somebody pays by credit card when the credit card company is actually only putting on a 1% or 2% charge.

If Dunnes or Superquinn started doing this would we have the same responses or would you all be posting in the Rip Off Republic forum?

Meh, I only look at the RyanAir website if the airport I need isn't serviced by Aer Lingus. Thier low fares aren't and thier customer service isn't so why bother?

YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY THE CREDIT CARD CHARGE

Ah now that you've typed in caps it all makes sense. In that case its fine to put a €5 charge onto something that costs a few cent.

For what it's worth. I've no probs with Ryan Air charging a €5 for a credit card use. I'm sure every business would do it if they could get away with it. I just think it's weird that people are on here saying it's a good thing.

    I'd go to Tesco!

But even with ryanairs €5 credit card charge I cant go anywhere else for less or even equal prices.

I just wish they flew to amsterdam.

Hookers and drugs for everyone then, well if they dont mind a €5 credit card charge

aer lingus charge it also. at least ryanair dont hide it, they break down all their charges and are clear to see before you hit the purchase button. other airlines just absorb it into their overall costs.

and for the smarter people, while its changing now, you could have avoided this 5euro by using visa electron card over the past few years.

Sure lets go back to the day when it cost £300 to fly Dublin - London.

I hate when people constantly moan about Ryanair.

If you don't them don't fcuking use them. Simple.

nobody is saying its a good thing, thats why we try to get around it :D

but remember its not just ryanair, aer lingus charge it too and easyjet as i said charge €10 so double. i feel sorry for those that pay this charge but what can you do, airline travel is a fraction of what it was 15 years (especially around europe), an extra 5 euro when you can fly to gran canaria for 40 euro return isn't breaking the bank

i recently booked with ebookers (flight to san francisco) and they charged me 5euro credit card fee, i couldn't get around that one, baxtards

Do some of you have to have a **** before boarding a Ryanair flight in case the paroxysm of excitement caused by being on board makes you stain the one pair of trousers that you are usually allowed to bring?

ryanair is tolerated by most people because its a cheap service. It doesn't mean that most people have any respect for Mr. O'Leary. Imho it's silly to give any credence to him outside his area of expertise: looking at a market and seeing how he can undercut his competitors.

They fly to Eindhoven in the Netherlands, there's plenty of coffeeshops and a red light district there, or if you really need that Amsterdam experience it's about 20 quid return by train. :D
