rofl - the gf's 3 door pug is showing up as a 5 door with 3 seats

On closer inspection this seems to be a pug flaw in the system..!

I wouldn't take the colour of the letters to mean anything because so many people fiddle with them. Only way to know is checking the paperwork of the car

I checked the batch on the back boot of the car. It said 85kw.That is in between 110BHP and 115BHP, 113BHP to be exact according to wikipedia so I dont know.

Might be handy to know if you are buying a second hand car.By entering the registration number if gives you information like how many previous owners the card had, whether it was crashed or not,if it was a hackney, when the tax /nct is due etc.Sorry if this is already posted somewhere.

Nice find - MyWheels does indeed seem to be a good place to get basic info about a car.

Having bought my first set of wheels a few months ago, I clicked up a fair few Cartell reports. Decided to check some of them against free MyWheels reports and most of them agree.

But it's clear that Cartell provides more information - I remember one of the first cars I looked at was a '96, and then checked with Cartell, turned out it had been crashed and written off, used as a Taxi (possibly after it had crashed) and to top it all off, the odometer had likely been clocked. Oh, and the NCT was gone by six months and it hadn't been taxed since January. Given those standards, the taximan probably used washed diesel too.

Checked it with MyWheels and it only flagged it becuase it had been a Taxi ...

I don't know how people can keep posting this, it seems to be an unreliable and inconsistent source of info, and wrong info is worse than no info in my opinion.

Your own anecdote says that, if you had trusted MyWheels, you may have bought a car thinking "ah sure, it was a taxi, but it seems pretty straight" when actually you were buying a crashed, written-off, clocked taxi.

I thought the 1 was reserved for lord mayor?

It is. And the lord mayor does not buy a new car every year. But checking 09-D-1, it actually comes up.

HPI are the only service (as far as im aware) that actually give you a guarantee - I think it 30k if their info is wrong.

All the other site (cartell included) dont give any guarantee, which is a bit worrying considering the whole reason for using the service is to get reliable info about the car.

The finance check is pretty important - so I would use Cartell still. But this is a good screener, before the usual checks.
Has anyone found false positives - i.e. something that was marked as scrapped/written off/taxi but wasnt ?

By the way, whats the record for most number of owners for one vehicle?
I accidently put in a wrong reg number and got a 97 VW Polo with 10 owners(in Ireland)!! "Import".
God only knows how many it had before it got here.

Great site....told me I need to get NCT done on my car.....thought they notified you when you were due one???

    Hubbies car details all correct!

seemly NCT dont always notify you for to do the NCT and if you are stopped by the Gardai with an out of date NCT, the excuse that you did not get notified will not wash.
    ..... so be warned

The problem here isn't wrong info though, its not enough info. The info it gives is off the NVDF and if that is wrong, somethings seriously buggered up and is going to be wrong on Cartell and Motorcheck also.

People have to take its warnings as a baseline and not assume that things it doesn't warn about aren't also there.

Based on previous post history, I expect not.

God no im not! I merely observed what I saw. I was only on the stupid website trying to get the chassis number for my sisters car key so we can get a replacement key for it. The only key for it got bent when I was trying to open the petrol cap Christmas Eve and it now wont start the car. Stupid freezing weather! The log book has this code and I hust thought that that website would have had it.

Yes I have learned of this. Is there any other decent site that could be recommended for this?

Do you have to pay €7 for what was once a free check? Or has it been improved with more accurate and correct details and new features?
