You do all real;ise taht RATM are signed to sony (through epic) and that Simon Cowell owns a large part of sony's music department so matter who you buy out of the two he is making money?

Also, it is only RATM's royalties not ALL the profits, going to charity.

Yea but at least he gets less with one than the other.
Its good to see at least some royalties from the Xmas no 1 going to charity.
For the occasion that Christmas is, it beings the point further home that charity where and when possible, should occasionally come first.

Profits made by RATM's label Epic don't go into Simon Cowells pockets, regardless of them both being owned by Sony. Oh and Cowell works for Sony, not vice versa.

Anyway you've missed the whole point of this, it's rebelling against this spoon-fed pop music not against big companies...without which no one would know about or have access to music produced by Rage or Cowell anyway.

Deputy Stagg, I won't do what you tell me to.

    Clever. Real clever.

What if he was YOUR Dad? You know what he and his family went through at the time?

Oh, I get it. You saw Emmet Stag being referred to in another thread so you think you're being smart by using a similar reference now. Even though said TD hasn't been mentioned on here hitherto in many years.

    Fantastic.

    Slap in the back?

It's not rebelling against anything you numpties.

99% of the people who paid for the RATM single already owned the song, they have managed to pay twice for a song that is almost 20 years old in some vain effort to "shove it to the man".

Load of arse biscuits either way.

They haven;t taken any sales away from Simon Cowel or whatever puppet he is pushing at the moment, these sales were people who wouldn't have bought a single otherwise, all you (if you bought killing in the name) have done is line give more publicity to the x-factor retards.

Who cares what profits goes where or what label artists are signed to? The whole point of this is to get a good song to number 1, stop another x-factor song getting another christmas number 1 and píss of Cowell who thinks whoever wins x-factor has a devine right to get number 1 with their first single.

LOL I suspect someone has had a bad day. :D
Hope tomorrow is more cheerful for you. :)

End of the day - its harmless fun and a charity gets some more dosh. Thats a win for me.

I just think it's the most retarded project I've come across in years.

And just to point out, I have owned Rage's self titled album since the day it was released, have seen them live 5 times, own a lot of stull Zach did away from the group and have seen the other minus Zach a few times (Audioslave), I'm a RATM fan, but this is retarded.

Top Ten about to start now. so far that unofficial chart is still accurate.

Black Eyed Peas should be number 10

It's not in vain if they win, which by all accounts they have.

Again you really have missed the point altogether, no one was setting out to deprive Cowell of money.

The publicity thus far for the X-Factor guy includes interviews where he's been very bitter and rather petty about the whole thing saying how he thought the other song was crap etc. which shows him up for the manufactured product he is.

Also the fact that he's not Christmas no. 1 is a massive setback in so far as his PR machine is concerned, more people are talking about the competition for top spot instead of just focusing all attention on one likely candidate, which is what its been like for a few years now.

When RATM win will they play the original or a cleaned up version?

Think you're missing the point. The point was so x-factor wouldn't get to number 1, and it worked. Why would anyone think it would somehow lower x-factor sales?

I'd say unless its after the watershed it'll be the clean version... unless someone lets them play live on the air again :)

He is a board member of Sony BMG.

    Sony BMG own Epic.

    Eitherway, he makes money.

I think it's just that the Christmas number 1 race used to be more exciting and it was a real honour to get it. Over the last few years the x-factor contestants getting the Christmas no.1 every year takes away the excitement and honour of getting it and cheapens the whole thing making it into a publicity and money raising thing for Simon Cowell. A lot of people are sick of that.

Also the fact that charities are benefitting from this makes it a more worthwhile campaign.

So you'd rather it didn't happen and X-Factor got to number 1?

    He is? Source?

All I can find is that he runs Syco, Sony BMG own Syco and that he has a contract with Sony to continue working for them.

Anyway all of this is futile, this isnt about money. In this economic climate we should actually be happy that Sony is making money, they employ a lot of people afterall.

Mark my words, if Joes rubbish is beaten to the number 1 spot, next years X-factor winner single will suddenly announce to be donating part of its profits to charity too to bump sales then.

Or we could just get some great song rereleased with a new name of "X-Factor sucks the big one" or something like that.

Did anyone else notice the irony of thousands of people downloading a song with the lyrics "F**k you, I won't do what you tell me" because they were asked to? :pac:

    RATM FTW
