hmmm i have a question now... as the MCQ is the same for bus and truck, if i already got the bus cpc, is it now enough to do only the case studies for the truck or will i have to sit the MCQ yet once more? (you see i wasn't wise enough to do them all together in the first place)
i'll probably ring them up tomorrow and ask.

ok i found out i have to do both. ie, repeat mcq.

jimmyw, im afraid you can't get a job unless you have the cpc.

electron - what reason did they give for having to do both ? Did your original MCQ not cover questions for the truck aswell ?

Has anyone done the practical theory test yet ? Whats involved as need to book that now.

Yeah stupid question I suppose;).Did anyone get their card already or do you get the card sent to you if you are entitled to it by aquired rights? Thanks.

If you have acquired rights, your licence is proof enough. You'll get a card in five years, provided you've done the required amount of training. Anyone who's gone through the testing process, though, should get their cards now. But I think someone said there's a delay?

Oh so I would not need to have right now, thanks for that.

haven't got the card yet. practical test consists mostly of theory questions as well, ie, what kind of safety equipment do you need to have on board, what's the routine in the event of an accident, what checks do you perform prior to a journey, etc.

the reason was that i didn't apply for both bus and truck the first time around. so apparently the result cannot be transferred.

btw, with regard to the DSA books, i found that in addition to this one: The Official DSA Guide to Driving Goods Vehicles http://www.amazon.co.uk/Official-Guide-Driving-Goods-Vehicles/dp/0115528997/ref=pd_sim_b_3

there is also one available that's called Driver CPC - the Official DSA Guide for Professional Goods Vehicle Drivers.
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Driver-CPC-Official-Professional-Vehicle/dp/0115530010

i'll let you know whether it's any use when it arrives (ordered both).

    Hey all

    Quick question regarding cpc,

If a person was to work as a mechanic, but was sometimes tasked to drive a recovery truck, would you require a cpc.

Their job discription is a motor mechanic and no mention of recovery driver.???

    Thanks

as i said, just lists the topics. i wouldn't bother getting it. it does have a section on the practical - but i'm not sure how it corresponds to the irish version of the test.

Anybody got any info on the practical? I've seen the marking sheet, but no idea what the questions are. Four topics in each of five sections were underlined, I presume that means those are the ones he was asked. He had two grade ones and a grade two and he passed with that, don't know how many you're allowed.

I've my driving test Monday but not the CPC. Would've made more sense to get them the same time, save renting the truck again, but wasn't able to do that. Anyone know, by the way, if I can do the CPC in a Cat. C1 vehicle even though I'm doing the Cat. C driving test? Just wondering, if I can get my hands on one of them, it might be handier...
