Shouldn't have apologized it just compromises his position

IMO he's not the only one who's had enough of the mud slinging coming from the other parties on which has been a very successful budget.

One which most of the country is pleased with at least.
On the evidence of the outburst it would seem that there are in fact some politicians that are also human. He seems sincere enough, resigned to the place that he finds himself in and knowing that this government will not be popular even when they do make good decisions. He can't change that and maybe Stagg made one too many a cynical comment for the young man to take.

It must be hard having absolutely everything you do is constantly criticised.
Politics is not fun and I feel sorry for all of them!

We're paying these people megabucks to debate and argue their point, to come up with ideas and solutions to the enormous problems facing the country.

Do you think Gogarty will go down in history as one of the great orators of our age because he said "fcuk you" in the Dail.

I don't think so, if that's the best argument he can come up with then he should be fcuked out.

Time will tell, I suspect this budget will not be seen as successful by history.

I don't think this kind of language can be used in the Dail. It's totally not acceptable for a man of his standing to be behaving like it. There are other ways of expressing a persons anger.

I was under the illusion the swore and abused each other like crazy in there but maybe that was before the tv cameras...

What... is he going to slap him with his handbag next? Not to mention the CO2 all that shouting does.

Of course, never forget, they're are a bunch of out of touch communist morons spouting popularistic tripe. I mean seriously... at least Fianna Fáil's budget has a *chance* of working....(even if they did sort of cause the mess)

Them, on the other hand... they're just spouting hot air to make the people vote for 'em. Never mind that as soon as they sit down in the dáil, they'll either tank the entire country, or end up doing much the exact same thing.

I love the way he observes the convention of calling him "Deputy Stagg'' as he unleashes the tirade.
What is missing from this is what Stagg said.
Go-go is in the habit of huffing and puffing, looking into his conscience and then voting with FF.

Down with this sort of fcuking thing.

LOL, I thought the exact same thing.

They're from the same area funny enough, although I've never heard a 'Lucan' accent before.

    From Emmet Stagg's wikipedia page:
In 2009, Stagg was verbally abused by Green politician Paul Gogarty who "swore vehemently" in Dáil Éireann on the 11th of December 2009. Gogarty was forced to apologise for repeated use of what was described as "unparliamentary language", including the use of the bad f-word, worse than "feck".[6] He yelled "fúck you, Deputy Stagg. fúck you."[7][8]

Where's the "That was the gheyest sounding retort ever" option?

He comes across like a total idiot. His party supported the government through this and yet he tries to fling the mud away. Typical green party moron.

Because he said a bold word in the Dail? REALLY?

Apparently Paul Gogarty will be performing a duet with Lily allen on the Late Late next week :D

Being serious for a moment, Gogarty shouldn't have done that. He made himself look like a twat, and if he did that in a meeting for a business, he'd be on the dole before he could say "unparliamentary language". As if politics wasn't at such a low already.

He looked like an idiot doing it aswell. "With all due respect"? Yeah...

Made himself look like a right fool. Anyone that has to resort to such childish and boorish behaviour in a debate clearly isn't up to much.

Just a damn pity he don't show that much passion in riding the country of Fianna Fail.
O' well - for his lack of such efforts, the voters at the next election will be saying the same back to him!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,286 ✭✭✭SprostonGreen

He's ruined, he always be known as the "F*ck you guy" just like Eddie Murphy in Raw.

Why is there only about 4 people in the Dáil?

Because TDs don't have to show up every day, only a certain amount a month. That's because they're a complete ****ing joke they're out spending their ridiculous salaries attending public events and doing other busy work.

It the norm to be honest. You'd be lucky to see them all there on most occasions.
They only show up for vital voting procedures. Their attendance records are a disgrace.

...and people are wondering why they are all refusing to use the proposed clock-in system being tried to be put it!

They don't want the people to see more so ON RECORD EXACTLY just how little they attend.

In all fairness thou saying f**k twice is hardly a "tirade of abuse".

Is he trying to sound like Jedward?

I think they could release a music version of this!

    hahaah

Paul Gogarty can release a song "F**k you"
Emmet Stagg can release one called "F**k you right back":D:D

    ....ah ....its been done before...
