    And? What's the probem?

It's supposed to be a CHRISTMAS concert. No matter how secular we like to be, Christmas is about the celebration of the birth of Christ. To organise a "Hallelujah" (yes that's what it's called) concert and not allow any mention of God or religion IS pc gone mad.

(And just to note, I'm an atheist).

And in the face of a lack of any such evidence to support that I think it's better not to assume so.

    I think I understand.
There was a Christmas concert planned that was to have Christmas music. Right?

But some people from West Dublin who are obviously politically very well connected (so well connected that they get free cars off the social) have complained, and somehow some secret legislation has been passed to prevent the Christmas music.

    Am I warm?

It's the word can't not a link. If this (at this point unsubstantiated) story is true then I'll join the people who are saying it's ridiculous (won't utter the ridculous pc gone mad phrase), until then I'll treat the callers the same way as people who claim to have seen the sun dance in Knock.

What sane, intelligent person still listens to Duffy?

Last time his muck graced my ears was when an OAP rang in whinging about the DiscoverIreland ads on TV ("All these highs and low.....la la la"). His problem was that a specific type of whale that was shown to swim in Cork was incorrect and is infact known to swim around Donegal.

He went sick in the head until Duffy got someone responsible for the ad on the phone, cave into the OAP, and therefore remove the whale from the ad.

All because of one person  You see, YOU can make a difference.........if ya whinge enough.

In my experience, it is not the muslims, Sikhs or Hindus who object to Christmas, it is the lefty do gooder PC brigade who just stick their oar in thinking they are being modern, trendy and cool but in reality are just being ignorant and creating racial tension.

Funny that all the people saying it's right aren't being asked for a link. Go to RTE, listen to the podcast. Rocket science it isn't.

It's spineless, pathetic and playing into their hands. As I already mentioned, if I was an immigrant I wouldn't expect anyone to compromise their culture and traditions to accomodate me.

Because it would be the sensible thing to do. Generally, people don't believe/make claims without evidence to back them up.

Although this whole thread would argue otherwise...

EDIT: Though I'm curious, prinz, just what do you think my "senbilities" are?

Can't listen at work, but yet no one provided a link.
What is the full story? Who complained and how many and what muppet made the decision to ban the songs?
These events are for the audience, you go to a christmas concert for christmas songs?

Truth, people whinge about the foreigners when they're not actually complaining about anything (well, maybe the tiny percent who are nutjobs). It's always the liberals complaining about us being backwards and the people who bow to their demands over pointless things.

Seriously, I'm an atheist but I don't think The Angelus should be removed or any type of Christmas-related do-hickery should be altered for me.

Then again, I'm an average human being and therefore a hick.

So, was it the liberals or the foreigners who have prevented the Christmas music in this case (or was it just the xenophobes making stuff up)?

The sensible thing to do is to assume one thing over another? I though the sensible thing to do would be to keep an open mind and not make any assumptions.

Here's the discussion on Liveline. It starts at 33.35:

The organisers "of the Hallelujah concert" issued the following statement to RTÉ's Liveline. Neither the place, organisation's name nor individuals connected with this decision are mentioned by Duffy in his wisdom:
'It's a non-denominational concert open to every school and religion. The removal of Christmas songs this year is a response to complaints from non-Christians in the past' (Statement read out at 33.53)

Is non denominational the same as non christian, nothings stopping them from having a christian one. Like wise if you're non christian don't bother going and have you're own one instead of moaning.

A representative from the Immigrant Council came on and condemned the decision and feared that immigrants would be blamed for this.

A quick google and it seems that the organisers of this concert, and thus who made this decision, are going under the name 'Young World':
