Wow those two sample schols papers really clear the air don't they:pac:
For anyone who hasn't seen them, "sample" paper one contains two computer science questions from last year's schols paper, and no maths questions, and "sample" paper 3 is four questions from last year's 1e6 exam with a question on semiconductors and a question on amplifiers I think i've read somewhere before too.
EDIT: Missed the last two questions in sample paper 3. Well at least that means that sample paper at least has the right number of questions...

They hardly make things any easier for us- the real paper 3 can't be that easy anyway, can it? Also, Dónal said in one of his emails that he had submitted sample questions for maths- what happened to them? And i was hoping for some sample 2e3 questions, seeing as it's a new lecturer this year.

I like the way that 1e6 pretty much has a whole paper to itself though. The subject is just a question of learning off definitions and formulas, unlike, say, computer science.

Ouch. Was he the only lecturer for that whole course?
Also, are there any crazy 2nd year groups actually building stuff in the physics garden today? The email we got just there seems to suggest that there are some groups down there...

Kinda hoping this drama continues, maybe we'll get an email from the Provost saying "TRINITY HAUS!!?!"
Anyone know if any groups managed t build anything in the end? Someone told me they saw a group standing around with a load of wood in the physics garden looking confused. Maybe they were practicing.

And I thought the six weeks we had with him last year were bad...
Heard a rumor that the average mark in the physics 1e4 question in the last summer exam was 1.2 out of 10. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

I cant remember now. But basically theres a trip being organised for first and second year engineers. Somewhere in europe, should cost about E50-60 or so for a weekend away most likely. Should take place sometime in the first half of next term, before the next reading week. I know its pretty vague atm, hasnt been organised yet, just trying to gauge interest. More details to come at the start of next term. :D

i heard that rumour too, no it was some test this year. as in for this years first years by the same lecturer who did the ie4 physics question for us last year.

So 1E4 isn't on Schols? This is a pleasing realization.
