I think Capitol is grand but you can't book tables so unless your there very early its hard to keep a big enough area for that many people. I would try giving Jack Nealons on Capel street a call, they have a bar upstairs and you can reserve half of it. It may not be available two weeks before Christmas but give it a try, it also stops serving at 12.30 but you can drift off elsewhere.

Another idea is Dandelion, its a bit sucky but you can keep a few tables and you will have a laugh if there is a big group in there.

You can book the small upstairs bar in O'Neills on Suffolk St. Close enough to Stephens Green too.

I'm going to say Karma or Capitol, because

    a) I like both places
    b) Boards have had events there before
    c) Both offer drink promotions at weekends (when the AH meet up is)

I like the way they're not wankery in there, got an outdoors section upstairs too.

Right. 6th is in the Capitol on the 12th, so that rules that out. Any more suggestions?

...it's not as funny when you have to explain it...

You can scratch my Dawson's Loungesuggestion as it was only a joke related to it's size. The smallest pub in Dublin I believe but jokes are not funny when you have to explain em, as you so rightly say :o

So, I'll plump for O'Neills on Suffolk St as my only real suggestion. They have no problem holding rooms for people (that usually have their own bar) for no extra charge. The place is massive too, three levels and close to The Green and Grafton St in case anyone's doing some last minute shopping.

There is a place that, although I know nothing about, sounds very aptly named ..

The Forum Bar on Lord Edward St :)

Does anyone have any objection to it being held in Capitol Bar?

tLL held a beers there recently and I don't think there were any complaints, and it's possible to reserve an area for the group

They'll also apparently provide a free glass of Champaigne to those attending the Beers, which is never a bad thing :) and it's a late bar, open until 3am for anyone hard enough :p

It would be good to get this finalised so that we can get it booked early and plan the other things that are going to happen, such as the sing-along

You would have to ask them to make an exception for the 18 to 20 year olds.

    They are apparently Over 21's.

I voted Capitol. Have never been to either, don't know where either of them are but the lure of champers will guide me there.
