Well it is stupid for someone to judge the game and say it sucks when they havent played it, i mean thats just plain silly.
Did you ever stop to think there may be a very good game lurking in there?

Exactly my point, you and a few more on here say its a crap game because it hasnt got dedi servers, the rest of us have moved on and gone and got the game and are enjoying it.
Constant sneering of the game from some on boards when they havent played it is not respecting the decision of those that purchased.
You really don't get it Dcully. I don't care about single player. I only care about online gaming the way it was in CoD1, UO, 2 and 4. I'm sure the mutli-player is fun too. But it's not for me. I didn't say the game was cr@p because I thought it would be a poor game in itself. What makes it a cr@p game is that AFAIC it's not an online game.

Steffano i think most on here fully agree with you and others plight with MW2 but sometimes it gets tiresome to see people that never played the game call it rubbish.
Thats my point in a nutshell, now lets all get along :)
Is it tiresome because people disagree with your opinion? I don't tire of the people posting hundreds of threads about how great they're finding the game. I'm happy for them. Now get off your high horse and let us (or "me") have our own opinion about it.

Ah Yes. More people "boycotting" the game by downloading pirated versions of it. Sends a great message. And basically makes a mockery of anyone left who is really boycotting and not pirating the game. As I tried to explain in my 3 previous posts that have mysteriously vanished.

Course theres absolutely no piracy on consoles. This game was leaked 2 weeks early on Xbox

Because I don't want people talking about pirating games on boards.ie. You're against it. Fine. We get it. Move on...

I'm not talking about pirating. I'm talking about people who are supposedly boycotting this game for various reasons but still playing it in the end. It doesn't exactly show a hell of a lot of willpower and it's only going to reflect badly on the genuine efforts of people who are doing the boycott that you yourself are trying to uphold. And as I said in my earlier posts, I'm not going to buy the game my self.

No more discussion about pirating the game. From now on, anyone that does gets a week off.

As planned, did not get it for the PC. Did pick it up for the 360, though only because I traded in a load of games I came across that were never mine, so it only cost me 16 euro really.

The MP is brilliant, but very much in a console 'Halo 3' sense - now don't get me wrong, there's no denying the brilliance of said game or games, and I was up till 5am playing MW2 Multiplayer on release night - but I can't see it translating to the PC at all. It just feels entirely crafted for consoles, and for the smaller teams that go hand in hand with said platform. For example, I love Halo on the Xbox, but I immensely dislike it on the PC, though I am - or was until recently - very much a PC only gamer.

Personally, my verdict is that Modern Warfare 2 is a cracking game for console owners, but a bit of a kick in the teeth to PC gamers. I've chosen to support IW on this one because I feel that whilst its made a transition to console at the expense of the PC platform, you can hardly play IW for pursuing what reaps the most rewards, and when you consider that they have produced the 360's best FPS in...forever. As bitter as I am too about how the PC version panned out, I wholly give a thumbs up to Modern Warfare on my 360 and can confirm that it'll be king of heavy local gaming sessions for many months to come.

Final word.....you win some you lose some. And there's far more win in MW2 than there is lose.

edit: One thing about MW2 I'm incredibly pissed over. System link for the 360...one player per console. Like....how lazy is that? We're all used to 2v2 system link, or 4v4, since the Days of Halo on the original Xbox, but IW can only manage 1 per screen? When the **** am I ever going to be in a situation with 4 tvs, 4 boxes, and 4 copies of the game, or even 8? Lazy, greedy, infuriating...

No offence but thats rich from someone running a crusade against the game for absolute ages now
Get over the no dedicated servers and get over yourself tbh.

i'm trying to figure out, maybe someone can help me, but where do PC gamers get their false sense of ''we're better than everyone else'' icon_uhoh.gif

Snobbery if you ask me, most of them are old beefburgers who just simply cant play consoles. Bless

Well...no, its not snobbery. How would you feel if Modern Warfare 3 only had 8 players and drastically reduced options, as a comparison? Not happy, I'll bet. I agree, some of the PC gamers are letting their ranting get in the way of the points they're trying to make. But, as someone who loves MW2 on the 360, let me give you a rough outline of why you would reasonably loathe it on the PC in a way in which all console gamers should understand.

    1) Match sizes. 18 players? Think you'll agree that that sucks when PC Gamers been used to games more than double that size as a Call of Duty standard since the original game. Imagine the next Call of Duty title had its eighteen player limit halved to 9 on the 360? That's how it feels.

    2) No dedicated servers. Again, dedicated servers are a fundamental of any competitive PC game. Take away your ability to host games, run your own map cycles, use your own mods, choose where you play, who you play, and how you play it, and be given a 'you'll play this, how we tell you to play it, and you'll like it.' Not hard to understand why you'd utterly reject it as a PC gamer.

Console games don't understand because MW2 is no different to how console games have always been. But with MW2 on the PC, Infinity Ward have actually taken a massive leap backwards, and negated every single advantage that PC games have always enjoyed over their console counterparts.

For that reason, I thoroughly enjoyed my legally purchased copy of MW2 on my 360, but wouldn't dream of buying it for my PC. I'd rather stick with Call of Duty 4 and it's 50 player user chosen killing fields, thank you. ;)

What's more interesting is how Treyarch will handle their next Call of Duty game. Simply retaining the standard PC online system would push them far above IW's efforts for most fans.

they always complain though, i've been on a few game sites and pc gamers are 9 time sout of 10 the poeple who are complaining about a game.

this is the 21st century folks, time to console up and leave those outdated amstrad 64's behind

What, my old amstrad that runs Modern Warfare at 1920x1200 max settings with full AA and AF versus the 360's 1024x600 resolution? ;)

I bought the game, although its as much for the single player (all 5 hours of it) as it is multiplayer. I never really got into COD4's online game, and i doubt i will in this either. Apparently the single player is great, so why not i said (plus it was only €29.99)

I do understand why pc users are so pissed off about this though. They have removed some of the features that have been considered standard in most, if not all, online first person shooters on the pc. It has killed any hope of a competitive (from an eSport point of view) scene.

But on a larger scale, its not something any pc users want to see. Now i'm one who will quite happily scoff/ridicule/insult anyone who says pc gaming is dead or dying, but seeing the features that we know and love being removed for a more 'console' (and i dont mean that in a bad way) style, is a little disheartening/annoying. It would be one thing if they had made these changes to include cross-platform support, which we would quite happily understand, if not embrace. But it just seems like they got lazy and didnt feel like implementing these featuers. Coupled with the increase in price (because they can...****), it is understandable that some of us are annoyed.

Fact of the matter is consoles have been holding pc games back for years, all we seem to get is shoddy ports and weak games intended for consoles and dumbed down graphics. This game is just like that, they've changed the game to suit consoles, where the most money is. You've only got to see the fact that they've lost the q and e lean on pc to see thet they've put absolutely no work into the pc version. The game feels like a console game on pc. The COD series I used to love has taken a leap in another direction, with less and less similarities to the earlier ones, they're appealing to a different audience. The old games made You run to cover, lean out or pop up quickly, clear enemies, move to next cover. In this there's little cover, they force You into the open and enemies come from all sides and You've got no lean. Its over-chaotic with no order. They even moved the melee to "e" to piss me off.
The graphics in the bright levels are ok, but I found the snow terrible, looked like a 5 year old game with bad textures and wasn't impressed with it at all. Meh to snowmobiles.
Not sure what they're trying to achieve with the ultra violent mission. Sure its great fun to a 10 year old to be shooting a crowd of unarmed civilians, didn't appeal to me TBH. The storyline of the game is just pants, Its just all a little OTT to me, its just made me itch for some COD2 again

I think this could turn out to be delightfully ironic when so many people who complained about Treyarch being rubbish and making bad CoD games, start singing their praises instead. :D

    Wow at all the anger.

I was also dismayed at there being no Dedi support for this game, we've always run our own dedicated server for any game we've ever played as a clan, however these days like Mr Cully we are only playing for laughs and dont do clan matches etc.

With this in mind, and after reading some good balanced reviews of the game I purchased it on steam along with another clan mate. Well I'll have to say that for plain old pubbing and having a laugh its fecking excellent. IW.net works and seems to work well from what I've seen.

To play with friends all you have to do is make a party and then join a server, this means you all join the same server and normally the same side. I played around 30/40 rounds last night and only once had a problem with lag. All we did was disconnect and reconnect to a different session, the same thing you would do if you connected to a laggy server.

Yes if your in a clan and like playing comp games and ladder games then yer pretty well shafted by this game. But if you are not in a clan, and maybe play with friends etc, then dont ignore the game, its just as good as COD4 for fun games.

Ah please its a pathetic excuse for a game, 4 hour single player with generic story. Dont use the multiplayer excuse either it doesnt cut it with so many cutbacks. Besides if they wanted a proper multiplayer game they shouldnt have insulted us with that sp and followed the example of Battlefield 2/2142/1942 or Warhawk with a properly fleshed out large scale multiplayer.

The vast, vast majority of people bought this for multiplayer, both console and PC. To discount the mulitplayer because the PC version isn't as good as you expected it is foolish. It is still a very good game.

Also, telling people to get off their high horse when you have posts such as the following is a bit rich.
Yet it's thanks to that "minority" that Call of Duty is what it is today...
Well I certainly wouldn't stab the customers who made me successful in the back!

I understand that you are pissed off at it not being up to the usual standardised FPS formula, but to be honest, they owe you nothing.

I made a big deal out of it when they announced MW2 would be a console-port with no dedicated servers. It's not like I'm creating 5 threads a day to tell people not to buy the game. If people buy the game and enjoy it, good for them! I'm happy for you! And if you don't agree with my opinion, just stop reading my posts.

LOL I was amazed by the no dedi announcment being honest, and if I was in a clan that played clan matches then I would be seriously pissed off.

However I'm not, we like to play on public servers and get drunk, while taking the utter piss out of each other, so on that basis the game is perfect.

I got tired of the commpetitive side to it all long ago, then again im getting old and the skills are no longer there, some may the skills were never there, this i will not dispute either :D
