If as he said he opened up on him he was worried about the right hand catching him to much. he probably was lacking the confidence to do so. Unreal punch though!

yep maybe he wanted to show the heavyweight boxers how it's done:p

haha he's so bloody calm- i dunno will he ever lose?

    father time will beat him:(

i just hope he doesn't end up losing to a crap fighter because of that. It would be good if he decided to call it quits while he reigns supreme.

Unbelievable. He beats fighters at their own strengths.

Who would have thought he'd KO Rogers!

    I expected a submission win.

That ground and pound by Rogers in the first round nearly made me $hit myself.

Fedor is a beast. That was an incredible punch.

He is so unlucky to have that one loss on his record. The man deserves to go unbeaten for his whole career. An absolute joy to watch.

I sincerely believe Brock would have beat last night's Fedor.

That said could Brock absorb that KO punch? There is some heavy doubt there.

I agree with you but i also think Rogers would beat Brock

    Mousasi is so fcking good.

Rogers really let me down in that second round. Even I know from watching a couple of promo videos of Fedor on youtube that you need to keep your hands up at all times if you're not throwing punches, his guard was so bloody low, how could Fedor not go for the knockout ?

And I know keeping your hands up all the time leaves you open to body shots but seriously, his guard was just too low and relaxed.

I also think Lesnar would cause Fedor serious difficulties with his size but when it comes to huge right hands like that from Fedor, I honestly don't know.

I have no doubt that you're sincere.

As Brock wouldnt have done more in GnP position and protected his head more standing than Rogers did, right?

I watched this on youtube and thought Fedor lost.

There was a clip at the side saying "Fedor v Rogers - the end of an era for Emelianenko"

Then the first comment said "Rogers was really disrespectful after the fight"

I put those two together and thought he lost.

Another great victory for the cunning Russian.

Yes, if Brett Rogers had Brocks hips and wrestling ability the fight could have went differently. If Overeem had Brocks wrestling and Werdum's ground defense, he would give Fedor problems. But Brock doesn't have Overeem's striking, Overeem doesn't have Brock's wrestling and neither have Werdum's submission defense/offense.

Have a look at Fedor's KO punch in slo-mo, its an absolute peach. It has little or no pullback, he just launches his fist from its resting position. His timing, power and accuracy is pure perfection.:D

As a side note, I'd love to see him knock seven shades of **** out of Lesnar.

Now wait til u start hearing crap from Dana White trash talking Fedor, he is an asshole

Yes but Fedor seems to have the most trouble with large powerful wrestlers.

    It was a clatter alright:

He had the opportunity to do it this summer but his management thought against it for some reason....

That was probably the most enjoyable main card i have seen this year.

Regarding Lesnar- Fedor. Brock although still very green and unproven probably has the best chance of beating fedor out of everybody due to his sheer size and athletisim.

Rogers has kind of laid down a possible blueprint to hurt fedor..If brock can get on top of fedor and not spaz out like brett did, he could possibly get a tko. If they are on the feet, brock needs to pin fedor against the cage, and keep him there untill he can get a takedown.

Id still favour fedor at this stage to win though, most likely by knockout.

In the meantime fedor v werdum will be awesome.

After beating Herring, Couture, calling him very green and unproven sounds unfair. Given that Overeem is the strikeforce champion, I would prefer to see him fight fedor, although I dont see it happening.

i loved the hype over the cut on fedor! fedor has proven time and time again he cuts and bruises like a peach and bleeds profusley!

why not? I was hoping this was assumed - Overeem is huuuuuge right now, bigger than he's ever been if you've seen clips from his recent fights in the last two months... Werdum wouldn't have a chance in my opinion, as great a large grappler as he is

Are there solid rumours/news of Werdum being next?

Great fight Fedor caught him so well but I think the ref could have let it gone one a few seconds longer to make sure that Rogers wasn't protecting himself. When I saw Fedor was bleeding after the first jab I thought a upset was on the cards.

First time watching Strikeforce/M1 and I was very happy except for the Shields fight which was a load of sh*ite Miller should have got that win just to spite Shields who was doing nothing but hump him. Loved his dancing intro as well hes a loon.

Even with his lack of showmanship, fedor is still the most intriguing fighter in the world. Its impossible to fault his character, and if anyone can force mma properly into the mainstream, its a guy like fedor

Watched this last night on Bravo. What a card apart from the dry hump display from Sheilds. Thought Sokodjou did really well in the first round but the class of Mousassi came through in the end.

As for Fedor, well I end up asking myself why I ever doubt his ability to pull out the win. Was genuinely concerened that he would lose from the begininning to the end of the fight. Then Bam, peach of a punch and it's game over.

Turning into a a bit of a KO specialist now too. :D

I thought Rogers did quite well, he's still quite young to the sport and he had Fedor rocked during his ground and pound. But what a finish by Fedor. Thats why Strikeforce bowed to his every demand when signing him, they needed Fedor to come out and knock Rogers out emphatically and he did just that.

Fedor is a beast, takes renounced strikers out on their feet and finishes wrestlers or BJJ men on the ground

Times he looks sloppy or in toruble then BOOM, lights out

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,631 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

i must say impressive finish by Fedor, but he had it far from his own way,
How good is Roger's really i know he flash ko'd the pitbull but has he fought anyone else who is decent ??
I'd love to see Fedor fight Overeem or Brock or Carwin,

Oh by the way did anyone here see the fight between Gegard Mousasi and John Donnelly From Team Rhyno in 05, just wondering did John do any damage to Mousasi

Fedor showed true class the entire way through the fight... Cut, over powered against a far bigger man, and still pulled it out with a highlight reel KO.

Fedor showed that the best heavyweight in the world is *not* in the UFC - and for any of the usual boards.ie detractors saying he is not the best... watch the Rogers fight or any of his previous *31* victories (The Randleman one is my fav) :D

Jesus yeah, I saw the "Randleman slam", I honestly thought he had broken his neck then (first I didn't think that was allowed due to the way he landed), how in the name of God he came back from that is beyond me ? Absolutely mental stuff...that's really when I started appreciated Fedor after seeing how he came back from that, it looks disgustingly painful.

He's 32 now, so the chances of seeing him in GSP like condition will probably not happen even if he does fight Lesnar/Carwin/Mir in the future.
