    ..... and again!!

    Breaking on CNN.

Orlando, Florida (CNN) -- At least seven people with serious gunshot wounds were brought out of an Orlando, Florida, office building Friday, a spokeswoman with the city fire department said.
A gunman was at large after firefighters and police responded to the report of a shooting at a high-rise building, said John Tormos of the Orlando Fire Department.

A spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Office, which is helping the city police department, said investigators are looking for a man wearing a blue Polo shirt, gray vest and blue jeans.
"We're in a search mode for the gunman," said Jim Solomons, a spokesman for the sheriff's office.

CNN affiliate WESH said the shooting occurred at the Gateway Center -- a 16-story building near Lake Ivanhoe and Interstate 4.
The interstate was closed in both directions near the office building, according to the Florida Department of Transportation Web site.

Ah but it happens in europe just as frequently I'm sure.

My mother works in the building next to the one where the shooting happened. Her building has been locked down, and when I called the background was very chaotic. My brother's also a firefighter for the city of Orlando, so there will be some interesting family chats in the days to come!

if we could have better access to guns however...

    Ahh for fuck sake.

I don't care what anyone says about it happening 'just as much in Europe'. You can't deny every time this happens in America it's a pretty strong argument against them 'bearing arms'.

Canadians are armed to the hilt (by European standards) as well and yet how often do such events occure there?

Not 100% sure on this, but I'm pretty postive the Swiss have gun possesion statistics similar to the Americans yet the gun crime there isn't even a dot on Americas.

Too busy making cuckoo clocks and qualifying for soccer tournaments at our expense to have time for shooting sprees.

Yeah, but the Canadians are just too boring and nice to want to do this sort of thing, besides, half of them are French and know how to run away quickly at the sound of gunfire.

A little perspective is needed also...

    Canadian Population - 33,000,000
    American Population - 300,000,000

But yes I do agree this never happens in Canada! :)

I'm told by my friends who were on lockdown that they found the guy and the lockdown has been lifted. Apparently he was at home. Either way, big relief for me.

Then why do the army use those little knives?

Swiss army guns would be so much cooler!

Why would my brother be the shooter? The shooter was a former disgruntled employee of the office, not an employee of government services. My brother was on scene doing his job as an emergency responder...

Though I dont blame you for missing that thread. Funny how such topics are dropped like a brick once someone comes in to widely discredit inane comments, such as the above by VinnyTGM.

If every shooting that happens in the US had a thread here boards would need its own forum for it, we're talking about nut jobs going on shooting sprees. Not gangland shootings.

Yeah it happens in other countries, but if I was a betting man I'd bet that the next 1st world country to pull one of these things again would be the US.

Its just the way Americans are. Theres a reason the GTA games are based in the US, GTA Sweden would be pretty boring.
