so is 123.ie an insurance broker or insurance company, and if they are a broker why isn't it made clear in their ads???

Broker. Travelers is the actual insurance company. Couldn't tell you why this isn't made clear in the ads, perhaps it's not that important. The important part for me was the €300+ improved quote i received against my Quinn renewal. . .i rang Quinn back for a bit of a haggle, the guy had no interest, "ah, i probably can't match that". . .ok, see ya

Quinn told me quite bluntly that they don't price match, so we went our separate ways :D

I was having a look around for a friend whose getting 2k+ quotes on her 1L group1 Corsa- they wouldn't quote her so I just started entering my details with everything 1 year ahead

    couldn't believe the quotes

Entered: Male 23 - Single - Full clean license 1 year - 2 years ncb - Cork City

entered the following cars with a high value - alarm immobiliser and tracking. all are TPFT with step back protection

    €1215 - 2.7 Porsche boxster - 2.5L RS Focus - 99' Lotus Elise

    €1411 - Audi S5!!! 08' 4.4L

    € 1615 - BMW M3 E36 Evo 3.2

    €1720 - 09' Audi R8 V10 5.2L

    €1781 - Porsche 911 Carrera 4 - Escort Cosworth - Lamborghini Gallardo

    €1925 - 00' Ferrari 360

    €2485 - 08' Ferrari 599

Not bad considering I paid €1680 on a 1.4 Escort starting out last year :)

the only thing I noticed was they won't quote any Jap import car - even a (uk spec i think) 98' 1.6 GL Impreza, and even a Micra came out only €100 less a 98' 4 litre Range Rover

Only way to cover a jap import with them is to sign up on a regular car and then change the car on the policy with them.

    Just a wee rant :D

Still waiting on my insurance disc from 123.ie. Seem to recall this being a problem with the company in some other posts online (even though -typically- I can't find them now).

What they say when you ring is 'the cert and disc comes from the insurers, they send it to us, we send it to you, we use a courier to send them from our offices, not the usual an post way (?) that all can take 5-10 days.

Deadline missed.it's been over the 10 days.

I rang last week saying I'd been stopped and had to present my cert to a garda station by Friday 6th and they told me the cert had left the insurers and I would have them in 2-4 days. Deadline missed. Rang them this morning and they've told me the disc and cert were posted out to me Friday. Usually (thanks to Athlone sorting office) I would have got it Monday. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow not sure what to do.

I know things get waylaid in the post but this has been dragging on since before they told me it had been posted.

Rang them 4 times since I switched over, lovely staff on the other end but think they're either clueless, have a line to take, or proficient in pawning me off. No call backs when requested either. I probably would switch if I was within my cooling off period because I'm not confident of dealing with them in event of a claim. Was speaking to a supervisor tomorrow who was quite assertive but I'm still not sure what to do if the disc doesn't arrive tomorrow.

Any suggestions or shared experiences welcome!

    I'd go with nononsense.ie.
They're basically FBD and all above board.
Better prices than 123.ie as well.

    123 less than above board??

Strange - I take it that it's a new policy rather than a renewal?

I paid my renewal with 123 last month about 14.30, the policy was waiting for me when I got home the next day!

I'd be pretty sure they print the policy documents on site and post them from there, based on how quick mine came through.

I'd either ring, spreak to a manager and tell them you have to produce at a Garda station, or if you are in Dublin soon, pop in to the office in Sandyford and stand there until you have the documents in your hand.

Transfered policy to a new car, got the cert and disc within 2 days that time!

Have spoken to a supervisor who was pretty snotty with 'it left here anyway' but the suggestion I call into the office is a possibility at this stage!

    Update!
Despite being adament yesterday that my docs were posted friday I got a phone call today admiting that Friday's post didn't go out til monday. Got letters yestrerday that were posted in Dublin Monday but still no docs.

Slightly more apologetic on the phone tomorrow but if I don't have them tomorrow I reckon threatening to stand in their lobby til I have them in my hand is the only way to go.

I use 123.ie for house insurance. I have been using them since 2005 for that, though they have never been able to give me lower car insurance than I can find myself so I have never used them for that purpose.

    Sounds exciting.

    hahahaha, classic!

Went with 123.ie earlier this year and think I saved about 400 compared to other quotes I got, and they were super helpful too. And patient - when I didn't send in my cert of no claims by a certain date (because Quinn were so slow in sending it out to me) they were well within their rights to cancel my policy but gave me about 10 days grace. So I was very pleased with their customer service.

Have also just got a quote for house insurance off them and they are coming in way below other quotes.

123 were €200 than my previous insurer. However, I also rang Chill.ie who were €80 cheaper than 123.ie!!....Thanks Chill....Will definately deal with these guys again!

Last year chill quoted the same as Quinn
    123.ie and insure.ie were cheaper.

Do you work for chill? - I see you have two posts and both of them look like cheap advertisements... Thanks Chill! ;)

Anyone had trouble canceling their policy with 123.ie?

I rang to cancel my car insurance last month, they said "Sure, send back your insurance disc and cancel the direct debit". I cancelled about a week before the DD was due. Have since left the country. A letter arrived today from the finance company that deals with their customers who pay monthly, demanding €46 (presumably they tried to take the payment of €36 that usually went out, it was rejected so they've added a €10 fee).

Where do I stand here? I've just emailed 123.ie asking WTF is going on when I cancelled with them and did everything they asked.

Can you get someone to look up your policy booklet and see what it says about cancellation? I'd imagine you would need to give at least 30 days notice in writing or something similar, that's pretty standard in my experience.

Hmm. But the person on the phone told me I should cancel the direct debit "before the next payment". I'm waiting on them to reply to my email.

Got a reply from 123.ie the other day, they said the letter just crossed in the post and I should ignore it; they will sort everything out with the finance company.

    Good service.

    hey Board readers,
I see a few different posts about this company.
Here's a question that I'm interested to follow up on if any of you guys out there have experienced, I feel really crap at the moment and wonder what I can do?
My daughter recently took over my old car 4 weeks ago,she rang 123.ie informing them of the change.(we got rid of her old car) They charged her €40 admin fee....so far so good....They sent her a receipt email for this and said she would be contacted to let her know how much (if any) the change would cost....Still so far so good...She waited and then went on holidays last week and on her return she checked her post but no docs, nothing. So she rang 123.ie today and was told the policy has been cancelled with no right of any refund for the loss of the remainder of her policy time(2 months)
123.ie said they tried to contact her twice but she had no voicemail on and they sent her a reg post letter, which she didn't receive. My daughter is now in floods of tears because she is not insured nor can she get insurance anywhere else because 123.ie have cancelled on her.Why did they not contact her by email (as they had done previously)
Any ideas as to what I can do to rectify this problem??? all ideas welcome as I intend to follow this up.

Have they given a reason why they invoked the cancellation clause? i.e unpaid direct debit etc

we are seeking legal advice now
    thanks for your interest

can't see why anyone would use 123.ie... nononsense.ie are miles cheaper.
I'm up for renewal on my car in November and was pricing around..
    €880 on 123.ie (comp), €481 on nononsense.ie...easiest call I ever made :)

Not for me. Nononsense come in about 260 euro dearer once you add in all the benefits you automatically get with 123.
