I got insured with them recently, got a very cheap quote aswell.
I didn't realise it at the time but I think they are actually a broker as my insurance cert says Travellers Insurance Company.
Does anyone have any experience with making a claim through this group?

    My excess is €200.
    Drivers under 25 is €500

Wow!! Yeah I just checked too, my insurance is up for renewal next month!! Very cheap for me too!!

Wonder what the full terms and conditions are though. Is there a way to find out which company you will end up insured with before committing to sale?

Basically yes. You need to pay the excess first and they will settle the rest. this is why some companies offer you the option to increase you're excess. This will lower your car insurance price but if you do need to claim, you will need to pay out more.

    Nox.

I switched to 123.ie / travellers last month. It was roughly €200 cheaper than the next best quote. It had all the standard features like breakdown assist etc, a tiny charge for no claims protection and a reasonably small excess charge. The guy I spoke to in 123 was very helpful. Would defintely recommend.....

I used them for my travel insurance and house insurance, found them to be the cheapest. Car insurance not up for a few months yet but will see what they offer for that too.

Your car catches fire, you call the firemen, they put it out...

and hand you a big bill. This insurance policy will pay the bill.

used them also - was covered with Eagle Star (Zurich). The excess is different for each company I believe - so make sure you ask them what it is when they offer you a quote.

another insurance group worth trying is Munster Group in ennis clare...just google munster group ennis for the number.....

i got thios info on the 4X4 thread 6 months ago and i got my quote on a jeep for €420...the next best quote was around the €1100 mark so i was over the moon......definitly worth a try in these recessionary times..

    Guy and Gals,

Just be careful. I got a quote from them last year. Far and away the best price. Hidden away in a little document that you find from a tiny link, I discovered the excess was 4,000 euro. That's right - four thousand euro!

Just went online again now, got a quote and looked through the poilcy documents. I can't find any number for the excess at all now. Make absolutley sure you know the excess before you buy..............

I am also renewing my insurance at the end of the month
Just got my cheapest quote (over €150 cheaper than next best so far) from these guys:

    Munster Insurances Financial Limited

+1 i've used them as yourself, had to use their breakdown assistance too, was very quick and the guy was great who towed my car, only thing was they didnt offer me a replacement car as per policy, just money towards transport/hotel.

Possibly because car is over 10 years old or provisional licence

Thats because 123 used to be through Zurich Insurance. All 123 policies are now through Travelers Insurance as of last October or so. Standard excess is either 125 or 250, can't remember exactly. You can take a voluntary excess to reduce your premium.

weird...i didn't know that the car age affected it (unless it is a classic or vintage)

they have the option 'provisional licence' so i assumed they would quote me....otherwise why have it as an option?!?

Well ensure.ie list car age of 10 years or less as a requirement for an online quote.
Also, they may insure provisional drivers over a certain age but being 25, on a provisional and 12 year old car gives them a few sticks to hit ya with.

just did online quote for 123.ie and about 300 bucks cheaper than this years (policy up for renewal in may this year) - could not see any excess figure on details of quote though

Just had a look through the policy details that 123 sent out to me last week. The following is the excess details. Apologies for the layout, I haven't used the table feature on boards so if a mod wants to align the tables, well and good. It should be pretty understandable though. Basically, if you are 25+, with a vehicle under the value of 100k, the excess is 200. If you are 24 or younger, its 500.

    Vehicle Value
    €1 to € 100,000
    €100001 to €150000
    €150001 to €200000
    €200001 to €250000

    Drivers aged 25 to 75
    €200 ADF&T
    €450 ADF&T
    €750 ADF&T
    €1000 ADF&T

    Drivers aged 19 to 24
    €500 ADF&T
    €750 ADF&T
    €1050 ADF&T
    €1300 ADF&T

Ya apparently the site says "insurance from 290", so you can't really do much better than that. I got 727, which is 100 less than Quinns renewal. I'm fairly happy with that seeing as I only have my full license 6 months, and driving for only 2 years.

    1153 from Quinn and 1350 from 123.ie

I'll be sticking with Quinn for a while yet.

Looking at all your quotes is making me feel horrible about my own.

If you go back ti 123 again with your quote from Quinn they will beat it and then, go back to Quinn and so on so forth until you have a competitive quote.

Im 25, with a 97 car too, now I have a full licence, but I dont even have it a year. They quoted me. I dont think its to do with the year of the car so much as it has to do with the model of the car. What make/model is it?

You should also try 25plus.ie. The girl I spoke to was very interested in what other companys were offering me and had asked me to get back to them as they may be able to match or better the competitors, although I didn't go with them in the end (I had initially selected Co. Limerick as my location, instead of Limerick city. Difference of over €250 ).

EDIT: That is assuming you are over 25. :) Althoug hgoing by your quotes, you're probably a bit younger.

Just got a quote of €380 for Comprehensive Class 1 insurance, full no claims protection and my wife as named driver, €120 cheaper than my existing insurer (Allianz) and €70 cheaper than Hibernian.

25Plus also quoted me €380. They seem to be based in Northern Ireland, anyone know if that would be a problem if you had an issue with them or they went out of business (i.e. because they're not regulated or bonded in the Republic)?

Got a quote from 123.ie €300 cheaper than my renewal with Axa.

    24yo male
11 yr old 1.6 petrol car
2 points on 3.5 year old full license.

Holy balls, I just did a quote with 123.ie and its €550 cheaper than my Quinn policy which I got 3 weeks ago! Can I ring up and cancel my Quinn policy, or is there a fee for cancelling?

EDIT: I just checked, Quinn charge €50 to cancel and I have to return the tax disc and certificate. I'll be changing tomorrow so!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 79 ✭✭rojerdandry

27 years old 10 months full licence, 2 years named driver:
living in the midlands, driving 10 yr old merc.
quinn and axa wanted over €1100
    123.ie wanted €820
JARDINE LLOYD THOMPSON IRELAND €740 - broker so it's actually AIG covering (might not suit man u fans...)
all fully comp etc with windshield cover and 365 assistance and reasonable excess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,661 ✭✭✭Voodoomelon

I rang up Quinn on Monday and cancelled my insurance, rang 123 moments later and switched, very pleasant dealing with them, just waiting on my disc and certificate now and my €550 refund from Quinn. :)

    Good Thread this.

Just a note on Travelers insurance that one of the reasons its so low is because as default you get "Step Back" protection on your No Claims bonus. This means if you have an accident your no claims will lose 2-3 years which in my case would mean a big difference in premium next time round. With most insurers I got quotes from, they quoted based on full protection on your No Claims bonus.

Not to worry though, I just let them know my existing insurer provided the Full protection and they matched it, saving me 100 euro in the process :D

I got insured with Travelers through insure.ie (were cheaper than 123.ie for some reason?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,280 ✭✭✭commited

The quotes seem great for me - male, 24, 3y ncb but really crap for gf - 24, 1y ncb. Very odd.

A small tip for people - add your mother/father onto the quote - it'll generally reduce it :)

Quinn are ridiculous my renwall quote is 1290,
26, 3 years with them, 3 years no claim bonus, full licence 1.5 years, no points, 1999 vvtli celica

123.ie 800 all in! does anybody reckon theres a cheaper company?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,694 ✭✭✭Dingatron

Tried 123 yesterday. €348 with full ncb protection. Went back to insure.ie who originally quoted me €418 for renewal and they re quoted me €333. :) Tried Quinn and they wanted €1260.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,227 ✭✭✭Scruff

    quinn are quoting me:
€421.98 for 3PFT with full NCD protection
€607.89 for Comp with full NCD protection

    123.ie:
€423.52 for 3PFT with full NCD protection
€516.90 for Comp with full NCD protection

the only big difference i can see between the two for fully comp is that quinn's include a €6500 personal injury insurance...hmm....

Can anyone help, I'm trying to get car insurance for my parents, aged 74 and 78. They got a ridiculous quote from Hiberian and I've tried all day to get a quote from 123. Keeps saying "sorry, we can't quote you right now". I'm wondering is it something to do with their age...? To look for €555 for 3rd party on a 12 year old Fiesta, with 40 years driving each is madness!
