It was Kevin, it made 5500 sterling iirc, really only paint damage and needed a windscreen. The Aston was a beauty.

    £31,000. Sold well above estimate.

I have to say that my heart gave a leap when I saw this car because I was the proud owner of a beautiful CITROEN BX DTR Turbo Diesel metallic grey and boy was it a beauty. I had it for over 2 years from new from 1988 to 1990. I traded it in for a Peugeot 405 which was such a comedown :( but shor what else could I do .. all the electrics started to give trouble, the suspension was letting the car sink to the ground and it was a fortune to keep it service. But in terms of an eye catcher there has been nothing like it since :).. I love the old citroens.

By the way how does one put these pics on line. ?? When I google Citroen BX DTR up pops an exact grey model same as mine!!

really sorry lads but i dont have a pic so this was ripped from google.

but anybody who was at the LongMile Road - Naas Road intersection would've saw one of these with no paint (two different shades of grey like a chalk board) and on a small trailer being pulled by a van,

no reg plates and roof seemed to be a hard top.

That Merc is a disgrace ;), the 'MG' is a replica, because I don't think they had a double whisbone, coil over damper setup at the front in those days :D

But this car is a superb spot:

It's in fact a Horch 853 Sport Cabriolet from 1935-1937. A special bodied version of this car (Voll & Ruhrbeck) won the prestigious Pebble Peach concours in the US this year! This car is generally mentioned together with the Mercedes 500k: both cars were considered the ultimate prestigious cars to have in their day. They have an enormous presence and are some of the few cars that actually look a lot better in the flesh than any picture can ever bring across.

Saw this in Mahon Point car park today, I reckon it's a classic due to its when-was-the-last-time-you-saw-one status alone, but no doubt others will disagree... :D

Mywheels.ie lists it as a 2 litre Ford Sierra. Interesting that.

I recall the ad for that: 'from only 6650 including delivery and numberplates.' I think. Ultra cheap remakes of old Japanese cars was a more successful strategy for them than the later one of trying to do their own cars, which people were less interested in, simply because they cost more.

Could you do it ?? I mean really ??
    Image0033.jpg

I saw a W111 Coupe at a recent show that had been fitted with Fintail SE rear lamps, not quite as bad a botch job as this one but very odd all the same !

The car ZL541,is it a Crossley or something like that, some one was on here ages ago enquiring about that type of car if not that very one. I think it may still be in existance. Cant remember exactly the story though.

    Great pics though!

The Bentley ZH2918 is also around nowadays,iv seen it some where, possibly in the irish vintage magazine?

I've a feeling that particular car went to the US, as far as I remember it was the only surviver worldwide.
WPI708 is taxed so is still on the road.

That beautiful Merc ZA 5362 was last taxed in 2002, wonder what happened to it?

Yep, it's an American Crosley (one 's', as opposed to the British one which had two). I saw one at a show a couple of years ago that had been built by Brittans in Dublin. Apparently, Brittans built a couple as prototypes in the '40's before deciding to go with the Morris Minor instead.

Thank you 1948.That Crosley could hardly be called good looking could it!!Not too hard to see why they went for the minor.
