Oh Geocities, the memories. Thats where it all began, my web development.

However, My Teencity website is still going on 20m. http://teencity.20m.com I was so innocent that time. My teacher at the school told me to remove the 20m and see what's there :pac: That dirty old teacher.

If you want to save and convert your Geocities site for offline use:

HTTrack - a free and GPL website grabber\offline converter.

    http://www.httrack.com/

I've been using it to grab a few scraps for stuff I no longer have the password for.

    [snigger] Xiney.. ;)

Gonna miss all those poorly laid out websites from the earliest days of the internet.

I remember it as a 6 year old kid who just got a computer and dial up. Windows 98 with that ancient blue background and 128mb ram and whatever. 16 Bit colour screens, weird semi-translucent computer cases, ball mice and all that other archaic computer stuff from the early days of the internet. That click and buzz of a floppy drive reader and how it always froze up the system for a second or two as it loaded. Web 2.0 is good and all in some ways but its ruined the internet.

Those were the good old days that we'll never see again.

Thanks for this! I don't need it for geocities but for another site that I'm reviving at a different address. Should be a big help! :)

So what do young lads use for new websites nowadays, if not geocities? Where are fantasy wrestling sites hosted?

It's just bebo now thats keeping these young kids occupied. Doubt there are many kids making sites. Though my brother tried reading my web programming books but I think he gave up again.

Geocities, ahh that takes me back.

I remember when the Internet was <blink> tags and scrolling marques as far as the eye could see, with pack of wild hit counters, guestbooks and webrings sweeping majestically across the plains of under construction animated gifs.

    *sniff*

Kids these days, with their ajax and web 2.0, don't know they're born......

I remember Geocities well, it was great back then. Used to be alot of Counter-Strike and TFC clans on it, as well as umpteen Resident Evil fansites. And Garbage Pail Kids!!

Geocities, Bravenet, Angelfire... I had the all, what a sad child.

    Guestbooks, Hitcounters, Build-your-own message boards.

Fuck off facebook, bring back real websites :(
