I have a thing about bad teeth. I wouldnt in a million years date someone with bad teeth so fair play to you lot who have braces(i prob still wouldnt date someone with them). At least you're doing something about your delf.

Only been seeing mine since a few months before I had them on - so maybe 2 and a half years now; having all the x-rays and cast rubbish.

Mine are all straight (except for one that's just the tinyest bit wonky still)... but if I had to go back, I wouldn't have them on (not that we get a choice here).

5 teeth out, aching mouths every time they're tightened, excruciating pain the day they're put on, taking 10 minutes to clean, getting things stuck in there, making me look more like a retard; cutting the inside of my cheeks

    Hate the things

i agree,if i could go back i wouldnt have gotten them on:( its mostly because of the gum transplant i was made have to get them,my teeth werent even THAT bad

Braces are responsible for the cartoon Braceface.

    Bad invention.

Each to their own indeed, but I think doing anything to the earthenware wouldn't be very constructive:pac:

    I feel your pain, bro!
Sometimes, I feel like my orthodontist just wants to inflict pain onto me and make me look as stupid as possible!

Thats just a bad gum to teeth ratio.. nothin ya can do about that Im afraid. She also looks like shes has her face pulled back and stapled to the back of her head.

Braces are merely a temporary measure with obvious long term benefit. Judging someone because they choose to have them for a short period of their life is shallow in the extreme tbh.

My teeth aren't in any great shape but they aren't crooked enough for me to get braces!

My sister had terrible teeth and has braces now, she's going to have fantastic teeth.

    She got luckier IMO.

But to answer the real question, it doesn't bother me if someone from the opposite sex has braces...

I had braces for a few years when I was younger. Hated them, cut the shíte out of my mouth, hurt like fúck every time they were adjusted, looked stupid as hell, awkward to eat, no gummies etc. etc.

But I had to do it so it's only right I take pleasure in your pain! :D

I'm still supposed to wear a retainer the odd night, but they sorta got stepped on a year or two back. Woops!

Like she's wearing an Edgar suit!! :pac:

On topic, I think there's something DAMN sexy about a girl with braces!!
This being After Hours though, I think I may well have opened myself up for ribbings about underagers or some such. :pac:

I still eat gummies. I can't eat any other sort of junk food because of allergies, so feck it! My orthodontist can take away my attractiveness , but he'll never take away my Haribo!

Jeez, baguettes? 'Tis far from a chip butty you were born anyway! :P

I'm liking that verb, "robotify", by the way :D

As for braces, I usually don't take notice of them, don't change a persons' appearence imo.

I think I did still eat them, just got a bollocking when I went back every few months.

Mine seems to be moving ever so slightly apart. Aaaand I've just squeezed them back together with my fingers... I don't think that should happen...

When I had braces I got a gummy bear wrapped around the side of my train tracks near the back; I was out with friends and couldn't get it out with neither quick short bursts of finger-in-mouth action or a pen.. Cue me 3 hours later practically crying about how cut up my tongue was from trying to push the damned gummy bear out and constantly getting my tongue caught.

Also, if your orthodontist has tried to take away your attractiveness, he's failed mightily! :pac:

That's the spirit, brummy. Sure chewing gum is meant to be good for your teeth, if the countless adverts are anything to go by.

Toffee is great because it tests the roots of your teeth. It makes the roots strong. Therefore your teeth will never fall out.

And as for baguettes? Well, I think you're referring to what we call a "roll" here across the pond. But incase I make myself look stupid, I won't press on about it. :(

I saw my orthodontist for almost ten years, BEAT THAT! I got my first retainer when I was eight or nine and constantly had some sort of dental work going on from that time on. It was fcuking living hell.

I had an accident when I was younger, broke my jaw and knocked out all four of my top front teeth. The following one's then grew in crooked. :( I had my "train track" braces on for three years or so and didn't find them too bad tbh. I had a boyfriend for most of that time so he wasn't put off :) That said, he had braces at the time too!

I am really into teeth now, because of how much I went through to get mine all straight and pretty! I always notice a nice smile and it's one of the things I appreciate most in other people, physically. I would never be put off by braces and I'd prefer someone with braces than someone with awful teeth any day of the week.

Aww! That happens me allll the time. I make the strangest faces, trying to get the ... stuck thing out.
    Very annoying!
It amuses my friends though, so at least it brings joy to someone :P

Lots of people here seem to almost regret having braces. I didn't choose to get them, my parents forced me, but they were right. It's been a pain in the ass, but very soon, I'll have nice teeth and I won't take them for granted. It is a difficult process to go through, but I do think it'll all be worth it :)

Chewing gum was just something impossible to give up... sometimes Polo mints do the trick, but I need a bit of Wrigley's every now and again.

Baguettes - large bread roll, with serious phallic overtones, can only be carried as if in the TV series ' Gladiator'

The worst was that when I got mine on, wrigleys were just a few weeks after releasing Cool Breeze and I was hooked on them. I was convinced they'd turn out to be a limited edition type flavour. After a week or two of worrying about the consequences I bought a few packs and never looked back.

I said yes but that’s because I’m 29 and the thought of finding girls with braces attractive is a bit disturbing to me.

At 16 I would have said no a girl with braces is fine.
