becasue you thought of it and typed it, your speculating.

Agreeing with released Statement from anyone or Anything other than the coroner is speculation.
At this stage, his own family maybe only speculating.

Your position gets flimsier and flimsier. Speculation is a consideration of reasonable alternatives. I was clearly and transparently pointing to a fantastical, unbelieveable and ridiculous example to point out the futility of speculation.

Yet, I'm speculating? Come on, are you that desperate?

Giving examples is speculating my friend....

Giving two general examples of potential causes of sudden accidental death while sleeping is speculation in this particular case? Dont be silly; you can google these things if you were bothered. Clearly, you werent.

I forgot sarcasm is much harder to portray on AH than any other forum...

Everyone on here is specualting my friend, unless they only wrote Stephen RIP.

No; they are not. Speculation is to take the information available and come to conclusions as to what happened. Few are doing that.

Personally, I dont have a problem with reasonable speculation based on the evidence we have. But the problem is that we have little or no information. All we know is that he died in his apartment. And therefore all speculation is essentially baseless.

And if we are to just baselessly speculate, then he could have died from anything. He could have been abducted by aliens or he could be the second coming of Christ.

    Am I speculating again......? Yawn

jesus lads he could have been killed whilst riding a horse off a mountain for all we know, we dont know now we wont know til next week sometime so anything any1 says will be speculation til then.

he didnt die while riding a horse off a mountain that i know as fact

I just think it is very sad, especially as there is no obvious sign/cause of death...

I lost 1 of my best friends, almost 3 years ago to Sudden Adult Death Syndrome, 1 week after her 20th birthday. Being unexplained, if even only for a few days (heart attack, heart valve, mummer etc...) it is the hardest thing ever. Thoughts are with his partner, family and friends...

    RIP Stephen :(

Giving two general examples of potential causes of sudden non-accidental death is speculation in this particular case? Dont be silly; you can google these things if you were bothered. Clearly, you werent.

SUDS is sudden unexplained death Syndrome...which is what was suggested in an earlier post.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudden_unexplained_death_syndrome

The representative for Gately family released a statement saying it was a "tragic accident".

I really dont know where you have plucked your "non-accidental" stuff out of, if it was non accidental would it not be malicious?

So are we not to discuss it in the pub either

We may agree to disagree power...

In my opinion i wasn't specualting, i was more trying to interprete or read more into the released statement..

And to say the statement isnt carefully worded would be silly,(not by the family) its to prevent people like us specualting..:D

Personally i would feel more comfortably going to bed to night if it was an
accident rather than somethin unexplained like SUDS...

I think its clear that you are losing the plot in this thread tbh.
    Give it up.
Go to bed. The whole thing might be cleared up by the time you get up in the morning. Unless you accidentally dont wake up.

    This is what Kean said:
"There's no foul play involved, and it's not suicide. It's just a tragic accident is what we've been told, and we're happy that that is correct information," Kean said. "There is nothing untoward. It's not drugs, we don't believe. It's not suicide. It's not murder. It's not a fight. That's what we've been told."

It is hardly carefully worded and clearly the information re an "accident" is third hand. As I say, speculation on such flimsy information is pointless.

So he is speculating also then?

The jokes are lame but the insincere "sorrow" at the death of someone people didn't know/care about when alive is as bad.

First of all, I don't think 'insincere sorrow' is on the same level as stupid jokes. It might be annoying for you, but it's far less disrespectful to the man who died and less upsetting for family or friends who may be reading. Secondly, perhaps people are genuinely sad about it? And how do you know those people didn't know him or know his family? Ireland is a very, very small place. I know close relatives of several people whose deaths were discussed on AH in the last year and I can only hope they never stumble upon the threads.

    .

i'm afraid i can't agree with this ivory tower-like sneer at the common folk who are emotive about the death of a public figure. i'm not sad this guy is dead as i did not know him and his music did not not reasonate with me but for other people it clearly does and for some he was a big influence in their formartive years so it is perfectly understandable that they would be sad at his passing. i don't seen that as in sincere and sinister or an indication of some sort of psychological weakness on their part.

It would be no worse then is what in The Irish Sun in the morning...
I doubt any of his family will be buying it.
Most of whats said in AH, is very clearly tongue in cheek...

Its Human Nature to question why and how,He was a celebrity and people will aways be interested in unusual deaths among celebs plus the fact that everybody watches programs like CSI .COLD CASE and other tv shows and have become obsessed with WHY?...

And this thread should not be used as a book of condolence, who ever heard of an anonymous book of condolence .......voice your opinion be it good or bad ....but dont write R.I.P unless you use your real name that will be respectful

It is sad to hear about his death and at such a young age. It was kinda strange the last message he left on Twitter, about being quiet for a while. And he didn't realise that his own words would be just that but for a lot longer.

Comforting love and hugs to his family
