A close encounter of the Clinton kind

I was sitting on the balcony of Bewley's on Grafton St. this evening with my other half when we saw a large crowd approaching. Turns out it was Hillary Clinton and she stopped in to get a coffee 'to go'. I shouted at her from the balcony and she looked up and said hello. It was a precious moment that neither I or Hillary will forget for quite some time.

It really made up for the fact that I missed Ozzy Osbourne in Stephens Green yesterday.

I seem to have a habit of shouting at celebrities when I spot them. I saw Bono on Grafton St. some years ago and I shouted at him too. Unfortunately years of fronting the biggest band in the world have taken their toll on the poor lads ears as he didn't even flinch.

Oddly, George Hook seemed to be hanging out with Mrs. Clinton. He was following her like a lost puppy.

Does anyone else have any interesting stories about celebrities you have met whilst out and about? Perhaps, like me, you have some quirky reaction that you always do?

keith flint waved at me once.

he was on stage and i was in the crowd, but no, he definitely waved at me! or gave me the finger..its all the same.

Biggest celebrity I ever met was Martin Sheen. His mother family is from Tipperary so like many Americans he was here tracing his roots.
The guy is a true gentleman

Met Pierce Brosnan, nice guy

And Patrick Bergin, you know from "Sleeping with the Enemy" film. Another Tipp man, a right prick!
Verbally abused me and the rest of the hotel staff I worked with

Saw the guy (the cashier dude) from the Surf Ad being abused by a crowd outside Club M in temple Bar,

he was very drunk and tried to fight everyone, luckily his friend stopped him from doing any damage.

the crowd were chanting "say the line! say the line!" as far as I know the line is "...or lever brothers will give you your money back"

I was doing a barbering course on Grafton St. in April and we had to go out onto the street to try and people in to practice cutting hair on. Ryan Tubridy walked passed so I shouted over did he want a free hair cut and that i'd make him look snazzy for the late late. He came over and had the craic for a few minutes but wouldn't let me butcher him. :pac:

Nice guy actually.

Isn`t she coming up north tomorrow? I`ll be safely hidden away at work though. Thats` if there aren`t bomb scares all over the place, and traffic will be murder.

Met the singer from Ash before, walking down by the wacky apple pub in Waterford. Girl I was with started freaking out, and got his autograph. He then turns to me with his ****ing permanent black marker and writes "Tim Ash '06" on my favorite tshirt.

Was at a golf tourmament in MountJoliet a few years back. Tomas Bjorn was channeling for the lead coming off the 16 green, he walked over towards me and i said "come-on Tommy you can win this", he said thanks and smiled. He then walked up to the 17th and hit a terrible shot.
I kind of felt like i jinx him.

I met Pippa from Home and Away while recovering from a big night in a hammock in Thailand. She was talking to us then walked off embarressed when I clicked who she was. She looked so familiar, I intially thought she was a friend of me ma's. What made it more wierd were the mushrooms I had ingested previously.

I saw the guy from "One Foot In the Grave" in Kent station in Cork once. I did'nt say anything to him though because i was worried he'd slap me around the head like he did to Father Ted.

First or second Pippa? My friend met the second Pippa in Super Valu, Ballincollig (yeah, wtf) - she had just taken on the role and was really pissed off with the way people kept annoying her out in public. And Celia - remember her? Alf's really religious sis - was with her and apologising to people for her crankiness.

I gave him a tour of my primary school when I was twelve :cool:
He came down to Cork to do a report on the bad conditions of certain primary schools in Ireland.
... I had to show him our grotty bathrooms, that doubled up as a staff room!
He was disgusted!
