Just drives me nuts when i hear idiots refer to an English soccer team as 'us' or 'we'. "we're" gonna beat "yous" tonight. My god are they total gobsh1ts, I've heard it a few times now, used to hear it a lot in school. And then when England are in the world cup they're going 'fcukin english c**ts' while sitting there with their stupid Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool jerseys on. And the fat fools with white trainers, balding heads, Man U forever tattooed on their arms, they couldnt even point out where the cities they follow are on a blank england map, wouldnt have a clue. Whats wrong with these people?

I dont mind the English, but they are a bit thick. But I have been asked......

    "do you know Bono?"
"Why dont they build a bridge over so you can drive, it's not that far is it?"
"You have Euros, I thought you'd have Sterling"

I hate English people who go on about the "British Empire" and stuff. But I reserve most of my hatred for northern unionists.

WOW! You`ve met English people from the Victorian era!

Actually English people rarely learn about the Empire, good or bad, the historical narrative is Magna Carta blah blah blah, Sticking it to the Pope blah blah blah, Spanish Armada and Inquisition blah blah blah, we fought the Nazis.

I didn't learn anything about the Pope or the Spanish inquisition at school and not that much about the Spanish Armada, certainly not the fact that it was sent by Rome.

Most of the history was about the romans, the normans, the agricultural and industrial revolutions and WWI.

Not much on the empire, no. The nearest thing is probably the Boston Tea Party.

Sorry but there is a huge difference between the country England and the terrorist organizations the IRA/Real IRA. Ireland did not commended the IRA/Real IRA for their acts. In fact, it was met by much anger from the Irish community.

Also, the IRA/Real IRA issued apologies to the families of those killed and to anyone else affected by the above. That's a lot more than the Brits have done.

I've been away from the computer for the past few days so I didn't get to give Rondolfus a pat on the back for completely owning the argument that went on from page 46...

Rondolfus covered every angle that was thrown at him perfectly, better than I ever could. One thing I would like to point out though is that it was pulled away from what started it, apologies. As I have always said, I don't hate the English, I hate what their country did. The only thing that will ever change my opinion is if the country actually apologies for the past. Ireland was enslaved by England for over 800 hundred years. The same point keeps repeating - Basically, just get over it. It was the past.

So my question to the English here and the people here who think my view opinion is wrong: Should the British apologise for any of their actions throughout history?

Again, I have many friends that are English. I've no problem with the people

And how many of those 600 years were you around for? Unless you're over 90 years old, then none.

Saying you hate the English is like saying you hate food. You may not like all types of food, but in general, most foods are palletable.

Throw onto that, the melting pot of cultures that now make up English society & you no longer have the stereotype of englishness that once existed.

When it comes to sporting events, I'd rather see them beaten by whatever team they're playing, but do I hate them? No.

Why is it that the Irish think the English should walk around like Harry Enfield's German character?

Britain has apologised, but people aren't looking for an apology, they are just looking for embarrassment and one upmanship.

Will Ireland apologise for the actions of its people around the world? Its all very nice and cosy for the Irish, they raped and pillaged as much as anyother empirical nation, but £anaged to jump ship 80 years ago and spent that time finger pointing.

As I mention again... It all didn't stop 100 years ago. Bloody Sunday (1972), Dublin and Monaghan Bombings (1974)

Irish raping and pillaging? I think you might have us confused with the Vikings. It could be the red hair...

I'd love for you to point out when Britain apologised... I really, really would. Anything, Ireland, India, anything. You may be some time googling though...

Oh yeah, that's right. A car with British plates was seen in Dublin the day of the bombing so it was obviously a government plot.

    I love these Republican fantasies.

Now then are we going to go through this all again....Warrington, manchester, Guildford.........

I don't need a history lesson, thanks very much, but maybe you need a geography lesson - Bloody Sunday occured in Derry - part of the UK.

The bombings in '74 were carried out by the UVF - not the British Army.

Anyway, since the Easter Rising, how many murders did the IRA commit in the UK? You don't see the English still hating us for that.. they just got over it & on with things, which is what we here should all do.

Dwelling on the past achieves absoultely nothing whatsoever.

Tony Blair apologised for Britains lack of action during the famine for starters, the Queen has also talked about Amrhitsar and there has also been apologies for the slave trade.

    What else would you like?

Have the Irish apologised for supporting drug smuggling terrorists in columbia or electing murdering scumbags into the dail?

Eh, wrong again. Here, please google Dublin and Monaghan Bombings and tell me and read the part about the UVF in 1993. Ah the hell with it, I'll google it for you - Google - Dublin and Monaghan Bombings

Christ on a bike, getting your piss in a froth over human rights abuses that happened decades/centuries ago. Look beyond your own doorstep, theres a whole world of human rights abuses happening right now, never mind a century ago. FFS, i`ve just been reading about a teenage girl in Somalia buried to her waist, and pelted with stones until she died. This happened a few months ago. Channel all your hatred towards that! Check out Amnesty International and find out just how good you`ve got it.
Tony Blair apologised for the famine, he even apologised for slavery and several other things that weren`t his fault. If you want the English to abase themselves at your feet, well I`m sorry, not going to happen.
I`m not denying that what the English did here was terrible, it was and it was inexcusable. But for heaven`s sake can we move on now?

Oh, here's a clue, An Phoblacht is not the official government report.

Sure why didn't you just call it Londonderry? Derry is located in the Irish province of Ulster. Derry happens to be located in the Northern part of Ireland. Derry is in Ireland but is also part of the United Kingdom. Besides what difference does it make where it happened. The point is that innocent unarmed civilians were killed by British troops. But instead of apologising what did the queen do? Decorate the commander.

Again, the Irish Republican Army is a terrorist organisation that does not act on behalf of this country. The Irish Army is Ireland's Army. Also, as mentioned before loyalist killings out number IRA killings.

Christ, this is pointless... No I haven't read the official Irish Government Reports into it and I severely doubt you did either... The UVF admitted it...
