An interesting one is Connacht to win and Fionn Carr to score a try at 15/2...

Hard to say whose going to win tonight though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,549 ✭✭✭✭Judgement Day

10.24am and still dithering on this one but wavering towards Connacht to win by (-4) at 5/2 with Paddy Power. From a financial point of view Bayonne to win against Albi by (-7) at 10/11 on, in the French Top 14 tonight looks very appetizing. :)

Just had a mad bet on Fionn Carr to score the first try of the match at 10/1....God loves a tryer!

Tough one to call. Which Ulster team will turn up? The one that beat the Ospreys or the team that threw away a win against Edinburgh. At leat you can guarantee that Connacht will be going all out for this one.

A bet I really like for tonight is Glasgow at home to the Ospreys at evens or better. The bookies are still pricing the Ospreys on the reputations of the players in the team and not taking into account their rotten form. Glasgow are near impossible to beat at home (unless its the Dragons??) and Lineen will be looking for them to bounce back from last weekend.

Went with your recommendation on Glasgow. I fancy them to win by more than 7 points at 3/1. I finally put two more bets on the Connacht match: a more sensible bet on Fionn Carr to score during 80 mins at 4/1 and Keatley to score at 11/1. I've also decided to adopt Connacht as my No.2. provincial side and am going to make the effort to get to at least one of their matches this season.

Glasgow look good value too considering they rearly loose at home.

Very good call on the Glasgow match. Not sure that I agree that they'll win by more than 7 but I put a few quid on both Glasgow to win -3pts (6/4) and Glasgow to win by between 1-5 points (9/2).

Ulster going well now and have the wind.

It looks like the Ospreys decided to play tonight. Theres always that chance.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,549 ✭✭✭✭Judgement Day

Yep, after a good run I'm having a dire night but at least I didn't put any money on Bayonne to beat Albi - they (Bayonne) lost 19-14. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,881 ✭✭✭PhatPiggins

I thought they were cruising at 16-6 but Bowe scored a great try and the ref rode Glasgow like a €20 ,ahem, escort.

    Cant win them all.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 388 ✭✭Blut

I checked the score at half time when it was 16-6 Glasgow, my only worry was 'what if Glasgow run away with it and I lose my bet on the winning margin'...never thought Cardiff would come back in the second half to score 20 unaswered points, ouch!

I'm thinking tonight's Leinster game could be another close one, 10e on Edinburgh @ 2/1 to win by 1-10pts is looking vaguely safe (if not too profitable) after last nights losses.

Lads its not rugby but the smart money today goes on Poonsawat to beat Dunne.

I have a feeling about Leinster but Edinburgh are going well,Murrayfield is a big pitch and Jackman mentioned during the week that they want to score trys,Leinster by 10.

You also have Berne at 10 and he likes to run,so it will be interesting.

How about Pattersons miss the other night. A sickener if you backed Edinburgh but great if you backed Leinster.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,976 ✭✭✭profitius

I think Munster will beat Leinster today. They'll be out for revenge and IMO are the better team anyway. So a win for Munster.

I had Leinster as favourites myself so was very surprised to see them both at evens.

Going to take total points 31-41 @7/4 myself.Leinster dont score much but their D is excellent and O Gara is such a dodge pot with the boot at the mo I cant see this being too high scoring.

I also like the under 41 points in the Dragons/Connacht game @6/5 on Betfair

What a truly awful Munster performance and only through an act of God (?) preventing me depositing money into my Paddy Power account I would have been really cleaned out. As it was I was forced to use a high street bookie (William Hill) and their rubbish range of betting options prevented me from putting much on. At least all the pundits were way off too, with most afraid to call the result, and all saying which ever side ran out the winners there would be only a few points in it!

First night of the worlds greatest annual rugby comp on tonight :)

Leinster/LI fancy Leinster but LI selecting Malone at 10 suggest they are going to play territory a bit more. Coupled with Leinsters excellent D and the shyte conditions I'm thinking a low scoring home win.

Total points under 39 @ 9/10 on betfair

Ulster/Bath hard one to call. Ulster doing reasonably well in the ML and Bath plodding along in the GP. I really dont like Sean Davis at 10 for Bath. Wallace makes a huge difference to Humphries confidence.

    Ulster to win 10/11

I haven't seen enough of Gloucester to bet for or against them.

The under 39 pts was never in doubt and a good bet in hindsight. I backed Ulster so I'm happy.

My thoughts were in the 'Rugby betting thread' in the gambling section. :D

I backed Munster too thinking that they'd be motivated more and traditionally win tight games. It was never a close contest like last years semi.

Lads - it seems to be just a few of us talking to each other here with plenty of onlookers so perhaps we should keep our tips to ourselves?

I just had a nice win on Toulon (+ Jonny Wilkinson) v Sacracens and more than that I will not say as PaddyPower.com may scan the boards. Roll on Saturday with more easy money to be made on Leinster and Munster but I'm not saying how! :D

The rugby betting thread on the gambling forum looks like its a bit more active, might be worth shifting everyone over to that.

Also now vaguely curious about your easy money scheme Judgement Day, you should tell us about it afterwards at least!

You too, I just won €10,000,000 on that game in predicting the score would finish 31-23.

Did I forget to post before the KO? Silly me.

yep. after timing...the bane of every betting thread.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,549 ✭✭✭✭Judgement Day

Ruggie - I have no problem posting my predictions in advance and have done previously, I was merely making the point that there are plenty of viewers of this thread but precious few contributors. I was not trying to pretend that I had made a fortune on the match - just enough to pay for my Guinness while I watched it. As for trying to predict the winning margin or final score - it's a mugs game - my only tip keep it simple. :)

I'm blocked in work from looking at betting sites (due to working in spread betting.... we know how evil it is and protect our staff!)

    I'd lash a fiver on:

    Sale Sharks * v * Cardiff Blues
    Perpignan * v * Northampton Saints
    Munster * v * Benetton Treviso
    Viadana * v * Leicester Tigers
Biarritz Olympique Pays Basque * v * Gloucester Rugby
    London Irish * v * Scarlets
    Edinburgh * v * Ulster Rugby
    Brive * v * Leinster
    Harlequins * v * Toulouse
    Ospreys * v * ASM Clermont Auvergne
Bath Rugby * v * Stade Francais Paris

Any ideas on what it'd pay out? Natch I can wait till 6 . . . Any advice on results (Not sure about Brive Leinster, heart / head.
