    Pricewise Extra Update
    25th September
    36 losers
    7 winners (5/1 -7/2)+(7/1 -5/1)+(7/2 -4/1)

    (7/1-7/2) (13/2-9/2)(7/1-5/1)(16/1-13/2)
    Profit/Loss@ SP Minus 0 Points
    Profit/Loss@Advised Price PLUS 15.5 Points

I know at least 3 of the winners were tipped by Segal on Saturday Sunday. I think I will need to keep a record of PWE weekends only and see how that goes. It looks the way to go.

Hey pointbreak, golden stream was advised at 8/1 on saturday by segal. Another brilliant weekend, the pressure was on this weekend, and he delivered again. Gary Carroll is making great use of that 5lb claim

Thanks I asked if anyone knew the price yesterday and didnt get a reply so I guessed 7/1. Carrol is riding well. I am also keeping an eye on Keagan Latham who is a star in the making.

Is anyone worried about the effect this thread might start to have on prices in the long run ?

There doesnt seem to be that many viewing this thread going by the number of contributers and I think the heavy hitters would probably have their own subscription anyway.

You're probably right. 55,000 odd views though. i know thats not individual viewers but it could amount to a couple of hundred individuals. how many are actually betting for real, who knows. I can forsee a time though when pricewise will go seroiusly mainstream and that will be the end of it so best make hay.

Prices dive as soon as they are posted on the web but thats nothing to do with this thread, the RP has more viewers than the Gambling forum. :)

    Wolverhampton 2.00 - Mehendi 11/2

    3.50 Brighton - Choreography 5/1

Point taken. I'm thinking more long term. If we agree it's heavy odds on that TS makes a profit year after year, whats to stop a newspaper with a huge circulation picking up the results on this thread ? it makes good copy you must admit. Pricewise results are not recorded anywhere else.

sure the prices have changed before we even get a chance, cant be anything to do with this forum...would make a nice headline in the paper alright!! lets hope they keep the winning ways going

If you mean that Tom Segal will go down the route of becoming a tipping line, you could be right. Henry Rix was the best Pricewise before Segal and he left to open his own tipping line. If that happened they would be looking for someone like Hugh Taylor of maybe even Andrew Barr to step into the Pricewise Column. I think Mel Collier has already been Pricewise and flopped.
I remember Rix giving Stoneridge for the Lincoln and Rough Quest for the National as his Spring Double at 33/1 and 20/1. When the owners of Rough Quest were talking about not running the horse in the National he wrote a full page telling them why they had to run it. Both won and I think it wasnt long after that he left the Post.

You can get all the Pricewise stats here. I only found it a few days ago by accident.

    Pricewise Extra Update
    25th September
    38 losers
    7 winners (5/1 -7/2)+(7/1 -5/1)+(7/2 -4/1)
    (7/1-7/2) (13/2-9/2)(7/1-5/1)(16/1-13/2)

The truely awful weekday tips go down again
We should start a Hugh Taylor thread. He has given 2 winners today (3pts at 2/1 and 1pt at 15/2 sps) and still has one to come.

I've decided there is no point backing weekday picks, I'll put them up if I think about it so they can be tracked.

Mike! I thought you wanted to keep this place tidy? and then you go throwing HT's picks all over the place.

I was going to keep 3 different records from the start of October.
    Pricewise Column Tom Segal

    Pricewise Extra Tom Segal weekends.

    Pricewise Extra Weekdays.

I am pretty sure the PWE Monday to Friday is awful, but I would like to keep track of it.

    Sounds like a good idea.

Weekends is definetley the best way to go. I've been backing pricewise extra tips since january, but stopped backing during the week in march. I soon found out just backing weekend tips you show far better profit. Just backing the weekend tips has allowed me to up my stake at a faster rate than if i backed everyday. The tipsters during the week, such as andrew barr, mel collier, and matt williams are good tipsters in the weekender and racing post, they write interesting articles on the merits of their tips, and are very opinionated, however they are nowhere near the level of Tom Segal. Its got to the stage where i'm surprised when he doesnt get a winner at a decent price at the weekend

    4.30 Sedgefield - Tiger Otoole 4/1

    5.00 Sedgefield - Amalfi Coast 13/2

I went down to the bookies late on and was flicking through the RacingPost when I saw their advert for Pricewise Extra........ It listed the 5 winners in September and the price changes and said something like Profit Every Month since May.......... no mention of the 36 losers though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 478 ✭✭Seanohea

terrible last jump by tiger o'toole although he was unlikely to change the result anyway

    Pricewise Extra Update
    25th September
    39 losers
    8 winners (5/1 -7/2)+(7/1 -5/1)+(7/2 -4/1)
    (7/1-7/2) (13/2-9/2)(7/1-5/1)(16/1-13/2)(13/2-7/2)
    Profit/Loss@ SP PLUS 0.5 Points

    Profit/Loss@Advised Price PLUS 20 Points

I got it right for a change and backed Almalfi and left out Tiger O Toole.

PW-E could be the Gardai and traffic law - they do nothing for 3 weeks then a 5 day blitz to fill the monthly quota ;)
