Does anyone know when the bounty arrives for the oyster festival or has it already arrived?

hmmm...you'd have to wonder will the GAAW people protest this arrival of a replica of an 18th Century atmed vessel of the King's Navy? Got some nice pictures of it coming in past Nimmo's Pier, will try and get them up if i can ever find the cable for my camera...

Nah come on... the 18th century has got nothing on the cruelty of the modern world.

I was talking to one of the guys last night and was told you have to pay to go on board €7 for adults and €5 for kids, I was told you can only visit the top part of the ship which is not worth it for that kind of charge.

Anyone else curious as to what JohnCleary was doing last night?

The bounty wasnt really a warship per-say it was a refitted cargo ship, and the mission was to bring back breadfruit!
im dissapointed that you cant go below deck, 7 euro is fairly steep.

I'm guessing it involved some baby oil, kleenex and a poster of Linford Christie

Just back from the docks and subject to my last post you are allowed down below which is fair enough but it still is a bit steep to go on board.

Couple of pictures of her when she came in last night. Still getting used to the night shooting so they could be better, but at least they will give you the idea of what she looks like.

Nice composition in the second pic. I like the contrast between the sky and the water.

Anyone know when it's leaving? Really want to get a shot of it sailing off... so if anyone knows roughly, I can figure from the tides for the dock gate...

saw some little sh*ts robbing things off it after work last night, one of the signs that were on display during the day from what i saw.

gardai managed to chase after them up as far as Merchants Road, delighted they got caught.

was trying to call Mill St. but had no battery, and couldnt find the dang charger!

Suppose to be leaving on Monday. Don't know which tide though. High waters on Monday are at 00.30 and 12.52

I was just on the Bounty earlier, it sets sail for Florida, possibly via The Azores, "around noon-ish" tomorrow. Will run with engines until out of port, then the sails will be put out in the bay. They reckon to be at sea for about 40 Days. I saw them really loading with supplies earlier, a lot of stuff was put on, nearly all white packet St. Bernard cheapo food.

Incidentally, for those interested, it was used in Disney's Pirate of the Carribean 2 & 3. In "Dead Mans Chest", its the ship that picks up jacks hat when he orders it to be left in the water and not retrieved, which is then pulled down by the Kraken.

In "At Worlds End", its one of the larger fleet of Pirate Vessels just before the big battle scene, though i'm not sure which one.

Might head out on the water to see it off tomorrow if weathers nice. Will bring the camera

Have to say it is a pity it wasn't lit up somewhat at night, both Bar No.8 and Sheridans had nice viewing spots for it last night but it was indistinguishable against the night sky. Lovely boat tho to look at during the day.

She sailed off on high tide this afternoon. Kept an eye on the harbour webcam then headed down when she was ready to go!

Was hoping to get it just passing the end of Nimmo's Pier but juuust missed it. Here it is coming up on Mutton Island...
    3962676940_d23416c868.jpg

Waited for it to pass Salthill hoping for the sails to go up but they never did. :( Does it have a motor as well? It seemed to be tacking and jibing a bit, as it was against the wind - would it be running purely off the wind against the side of the boat? (I know nout about sailing!) If I had time I'd definately have followed her out to the mouth of the bay and try get a photo with the full sails.
