Legal Highs: What's your poison?

This is not a definitive list of ingredients but hopefully a reasonable stab at the most likely candidates post the BZP ban. All have been found, either alone or in combination, in UK analyses on seized pills as well as on test purchases made from headshops. I would guess that most of the following will remain the actives in legal high pills and powders until they are banned in the UK in the very near future. Likely here too soon thereafter. I have kept the descriptions brief as these substance are all described in much greater detail elsewhere.

Methylone, beta-keto-MDMA. A milder and shorter acting MDMA-like substance. Uncommon in legals. Possibly similar neurotoxic qualities to MDMA but not confirmed.

Ethylone, beta-keto-MDEA. Very similar to above but weaker. Found only rarely in legals. Probably less used due to it's lack of potency compared to methylone.

Butylone, beta-keto-MBDB, like methylone but with an extra carbon, so 4 instead of 3, on the side chain. Less empathic then methylone.

Mephedrone, N,para-dimethylcathinone, p-methylmethcathinone. Stimulant said to have similar effects to MDMA. Seems to have worrying side-effects (heart, blood pressure, circulation) as well as having a strong compulsive quality.

Metamfepramone, N,N-dimethylcathinone. Weak stimulant.

Ethcathinone, N-Ethylcathinone. Stimulant.

Flephedrone, para-fluoromethcathinone, 4-fluoromethacathinone. Reportedly a stimulant. Probably weak.

3-Fluoromethcathinone. Unknown

2-Fluoromethcathinone. Unknown

MDPV, Methylenedioxypyrovalerone, 3,4-methylenedioxyvalerophenone. Stimulant. Some users report very negative effects, even with small doses, such as severe headaches while others can achieve some amount of stimulation without negative side-effects. Said to be horribly compulsive even when little stimulation is felt. Highly likely to induce anxiety at higher doses or prolonged use.

Desoxy, Desoxypipradrol, Diphenyl-2-piperidinemethane. A strong stimulant with a very, very (too) long duration. Compulsive. It gets metabolised slowly so even though the mental effect may have worn off it's present in high levels in the body. Rare found in legals probably because of the significant overdose danger.

D2PM, Diphenylprolinol, Diphenyl-2-pyrrolidinemethanol. Structurally similar to desoxy. Said to be less pleasant, less active and shorter acting. Compulsive.

mCPP, meta-Chlorophenylpiperazine. Relative of BZP. High incidence of migraine headache among users (~10%).

Caffeine. Usually added in unpleasantly high doses.

Ephedrine. Mild stimulant.

Synephrine. Supposedly similar to ephedrine.

Glaucine. Anti-tussive alkaloid. Possible sedative and mild hallucinogen

Which of the legal highs would be most likely to contain mephedrone?? i used to enjoy the diablo xxx pills occasionally when they were still bzp based but dont bother with much of anything now. I enjoy the sensory end of things,loved up,buzzed sensations..... any recommendations mate?

Also, you forgot about DMAA, meOPP and mCPP.

If I recommended anything I would only be guessing, the manufacturers don't list ingredients.

BZP was horrible next day. Mephedrone kicks ass!!
Hawain baby woodrose seeds pack a fair punch too. Salvia is one to consider doesn't work every time for some reason but when it works, my god it works. Remember too - just cos it's legal doesn't mean it cant kill you (case in point alcohol and tobacco) so be carefull especially with mephedrone, i cant imagine the others doing too much harm but don't quote me on that

I reported all those I found had been shown present in analyses. meOPP, like TFMPP is usually used in combination with BZP and is probably not used alone. I didn't find DMAA in any analysis and at best I thinks it is a red herring no stronger than caffeine.

meOPP is a listed ingredient in these pills.

DMAA (geranamine) is a listed ingredient in at least these pills.

Also, Mephedrone is really nasty stuff. Lots of complaints of bad side effects. The type that even overdoses of crack or meth don't give you. People complaining of loss of feeling in their hands/feet, their bodies going blue and long-lasting heart problems among other things.
My advice would be to stay the fuck away. From what is known so far, methylone seems like a much safer option.

Mephedrone and methylone are really, really good, and can be bought easily and cheaply from online RC vendors. As mentioned above though, mephedrone doesn't seem to be safe at all. You can never really have enough of it, so there's a definite risk of addiction, and the evidence so far seems to indicate it's cardiotoxic - my heart definitely wasn't too pleased with me after I took it.

I've had some far-out trips on DXM (cough medicine) but it generally leaves me feeling very dysphoric and I don't touch it anymore.

Salvia's worth taking just for the experience though I've never heard it described as enjoyable by anyone.

Pretty much any other legal drug I've tried has been ineffective or, much more commonly, way too strong, or had horrible side effects that far outweighed any of the positives.

I've had a few great experiences on salvia, when it works at all that is.
In general though any of the legal stuff i've tried is a pale imitation of it's less legal cousins, mephedrone being a notable exception but as already stated it's side effects aren't quite known but from personal experience i think the bad stuff you hear about it is probably exagerated, maybe i've just been lucky or maybe it effects different people in different ways but i haven't experienced any bad effects at all - based on using it maybe 10 times in total.

None of them, as side from tabacco, and alcohol. They achieve the effects by taking out the illegal ingredients, put in legal ones, and wondering will it have the same effect.

No-one knows the long term effects of the new drugs, as most haven't been tested effectively.
