i have been led through so many threads and newspaper articles reading about all these cases in the last hour, and I dont now know if I can sleep.........
In galway Gerard Barry was convicted of that young manuela's murder,
he had killed a man in eyre square, violently robbed many people, blinded a man, and ALLEGEDLY multiply raped a different foreign student, so while on bail for this Alleged crime, he ended this poor girs life, within an arses roar of where I lay my head at night.I knew cops on that case and they were traumatised by it.

so this plonker that this thread was started about, may very well cross the line and kill someone, but he still gets to walk out of the joy or wherever, into the local centra, buy a box of ciggies and the star (speculation your honour), ramble down the road till he gets horny and tap on someones door......can you imagine if that was your mother, sister , or daughter.........

and it led me to this article

    http://www.independent.ie/opinion/analysis/the-silence-of-the-lambs-in-a-tranquil-connemara-village-508967.html

its long ago but I remember giving a statement, this crap ruins immeasurable amounts of lives..........

A fella can get drunk and cross a line, no excuse, punish him, but carefully as women can cry wolf too, but an evil person, Sick I suppose, but waht do we do. And unfortunately the law is all entangled in itself and human rights and bla bla , so as to give these sick people the space and time to do this crap...........second strike snip maybe.....court of law not justice eh,

what lengths would one go to to avenge a loved one being subject to such an experience, guess we cant start a thread on that, or is there aloop hole in the rules here too ?

Fitting punishment - meet me for a one on one training session, and this is for real. I'd start by breaking an elbow, then a slow knee bar to shatter first one, then the other knee. I might consider smashing the other elbow then, noth sure what method I'd use, but I have a few in my arsenal.

Then I'd break for lunch, but leave my son to practice his Judo too - a few collar chokes maybe.

Next day I'd consider smashing the fvckers spine, just the lower part. I would't want to risk killing him at this early stage.

Then I'd get my mate Tony (he's gay and a sadistic bastard) to armed himself with his biggest and nastiest double-end and ruin the guys intestines.

Third day, I'd strangle him with my bare hands and while watching his life ebb I'd invite him to pray with me for Gods forgiveness, but kill him before prayers end.

In a final fitting tribute I'd post a photo of him and I in the Nerds pix thread on this forum and you'll all applaud me fine work.

    Amen.

The 3 strike principle wouldn't necessarily have to apply to the same type of offense, for example:

Mr. X? aged 18, steals a car crashes it into a wall: gets caught. Strike one.
Same guy now 25, robs the local post office: Gets caught. Strike two.
Older now at 31, rapes a teenager after a nite club: Strike three.

The point is that Mr.X is displaying a pattern over a period of time which indicates that he is simply not capable of reform (or maybe, remorse towards his victims), thus attempting to rehabilitate him into society would be useless. The odds are that he will reoffend and continue to burden society one way or another. Life sentence should be imposed here.
    That said:
If someone raped my girlfriend or daughter, I'd probably want to murder him or see him hang.

personally, i'd kill him. the sentence i would get for that would be well worth it, knowing that he likely wouldn't have received an adequate sentence himself. kill him, go into the joy saying your prayers every day, do a course, free food, free gym, tv, pool table, and get out in a few days for good behaviour.

If someone ever harmed anyone in my family I'd kill the fcuker on the spot.
I wouldn't torture them or anything...just look into their eyes and pull the trigger.
Torturing people would lower you to their level and would do long term harm to yourself.

That's the crazy reality of our justice system and prison system. It is a joke and in no way a deterrent. People don't really fear the punishment and that is why crime will continue at the rate it is

Agree in principle, but then there will be the other sides argument of the costs associated with an indefinite detention period, vis the burden on the State.

Sorry for the late reply, but life imprisonment is going to cost too. And I'm told that the death penalty is even more expensive again.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Problem; the judges are a law unto themselves.

Solution; make them do their job properly.

But that's never going to fooking happen.......

Have you considered how expensive it would be to repeatedly convict this repeat offender in several different trials?

Has the 3 strikes system resulted in a fall in crime? I'd ask anyone claiming it has to see how much crime in states without the 3 strikes in place has fallen in the same time period.

I don't believe I ever rasied the issue...?

Also, regarding the three strikes rule? I'm not against it, but it IS going to be expensive.

Ya know what ? Ya wouldn't. I don't care how outraged and/or hard people think they are, they simply wouldn't. Thats why the newspapers aren't full of courthouse steps shootings by grieving parents/siblings etc. Everyone would like to think they would exact righteous revenge when a son/daughter is raped/murdered but it just doesn't happen outside the movies.

It's a great idea and one I've thought about myself if anything happened to my wife or family but in the end of the day it's a very hard thing to take a life and for all the keyboard warrior talk truth is ya wouldn't.
