If they just stuck with good old fashioned beheadings (with a guillotine) they wouldnt have that problem.

He raped and murdered a 14 year old girl.

He got 25 more years than his victim.

Eff him and he can rot in hell.

at least he knows he'll never be a junkie

in fairness ... deserves what he is due to get..... why dont we have proper punishments like that, our rapists/murders get less than 10years and walk out and sometimes re-offend.

He committed a horrible crime, he doesn't deserve the right to choose his own fate. "Beyond inhumane" were his actions that led him to prison in the first place. He should sit in that cell for the rest of his life, not be pardoned with an injection.

Why not put him in front of a firing squad? Same result.

The strangest thing they do regarding death by lethal injection is the fact that they always sterilise the needle first.

He deserved that two hours of agony, knowing that he probably put that young girl through much worse. eye for an eye.

It's all a bit barbaric and 'eye for an eye' etc. The state should not legalise revenge IMO

There actually is a logical explanation for that, I think its` because if the execution is put off at the last minute (like the very last second, when the needle is in, but the dose hasn`t yet been administered), then there will be no risk of infection. Something like that anyway.

why not? rape and murder should have its consequences. death by injection is letting him off light.

.......and rub the site of entry with a medi-swab to prevent infection. And of course, one has to be in good physical health prior to execution.

Do you not think people like this have degraded humanity enough already, that putting them to death will not simply validate thier actions further? And although there is no suggestion that the man involved in this case is in any way innocent, i`m sure that plenty of innocent people have been put to death. What about them? And should we not keep the desire for revenge totally separate from the desire for justice.

Sorry if this has already been posted, but I was reading about this poor sod in work today. After twenty-five years of waiting, his execution was postphoned as doctors could not tap a vein for the lethal injection. It`s bad enough that some supposedly civilised countries still have the death penalty, but for it to all go horribly wrong like this, is beyond inhumane.

    Poor sod?

Personally i think he should be fed alive to pigs feet first.

I'm all for the death penalty but there have been a lot of exonerated death row inmates over the years. Over 200 i believe. A lot of convictions in the US are questionable and based on the flimiest of evidence.

As I posted above, I also believe in second chances. As foolish as that sounds.

That's a hero's death and this man is far from a hero. I'd rather see him thrown into a pit of Rats and left there to rot.

How's that a Heros death, in both world wars it was the death of Tratiors and deserters. In Asian countrys its the prefered method of execution. Your family even have to pay for the bullet.

    Agreed

Thats not the point of the death penalty, its what he deserves for such a disgusting act of violence and murder. Makes me sick to think about it. He will be put to death so he doesnt do the same again to another innocent 14 year old.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,848 ✭✭✭soundsham

i would have happily injected him through the top of his penis, if it didn't kill him i would try again every day he was alive......

i think it still wouldn't be good enough for him

And what if it was your son/daughter who`d been falsely accused of such a crime, and was facing the death penalty, and an out of control lynch mob baying for his/her blood? Honestly, think about it. This happens all the time.

But he wasnt falsely accused was he. So your post means nothing. He raped and murdered a child. He deserves to be skined alive.

I agree - we have seen enough miscarriages of justice to know. Would the Birmingham Six still be here if the UK had the death penalty ??

When I read the thread title I was ready to do a size 8 font post pointing out that the word was "vain".

    That is all.

doctors could not tap a vein for the lethal injection.

They weren't doctors, hippocratic oath and all that means that executioners tend to be untrained medically.
