Yet more "Ashurdeyllbeghrand-ism" from the FAI.

Absolute clowns, the excuse given was that "not many planes have as many business class seats as we'd need".

Do a bit of homework, and charter a plane that does have the required number of seats then.

Pure amateurism by Big JD and his cronies. Again.

Just typical FAI, the players have every right to be pissed off with such a lack of professionalism. Nothings ever going to change with them.

According to the link, Brady and Alan Kelly gave up their business class seats to players in fairness to them.

Who gave the excuse? I bet he could have phrased it differently and said "There weren't enough business class for the suits and the players, so all the suits got one and then we had a little chat about which of the players we liked the best and then gave them business class seats".

Jokers indeed. As far as I'm concerned, I think all football fans and non-gobshítes will agree, let the players fly on a players plane with them and the staff only on board. Every gets the comfort and privacy they need and don't have the irritation of idiot old geezers in suits pretending to be your friend.

I bet you there's at least one clown on here defending the FAI in this.

Was the plane not chartered? Thats crazy! Wouldn't have bothered them that much if that was the case.

So the players who didnt get business class seats threw their toys out of the pram. GROW UP LADS FFS +1 thats like school boys wanting seats down the back of the bus!

    ^^

    told you

So the FAI are "playing down" the incident....sure thats what they're best at!

Anyway back to the game, I would say a squeaky 2-1 win, in similar manner to the Georgia home game (i.e, going behind, lucky equaliser, Robbie Keane gets winner of his shoulder)

It's hardly like wanting a seat down the back of the bus! It's more like "I'm a professional athlete who has to play a top level football match in 2 days. I'd appreciate it if I could be as comfortable as possible whilst cooped up on an airplane for 3+ hours so that I can be as well rested and prepared for the match."

Why do the suits need business class? They are just going to be strolling around corporate drinking free drink, eating volavantes and not even watching the game.

    ^^ Or off his ear!

Yes back to the game lads! No point getting into a strop about the FAI!

It just goes to show how behind the times the FAI are, they could easily have span some story about the "current economic climate" or some b.s. like that, although no one would still believe them.

The fool to blame for all this is not Delaney but Ray Tracey, who organizes all the FAI travel.

He was on Saturday Sport on RTE radio 1 a few weeks ago talking about organizing the travel and all that and how professional it was etc, but now he can't even count the seats on a plane

He was also going on about how wonderful Saipan was as a venue and how he was 110% and still is 110% behind Mick on that whole matter.

Edit : Actually Ray probably was more concerned about filling the seats with the sycophants who pay his company above and beyond the odds just to travel with the team.

So he is a fool, who has been doing his job poorly for years then. So you dont reckon the people that keep employing him (jobs for the boys style?) are to blame?

Yep, the FAI keep on employing him.

    They are to blame.

While it once again proves what a bunch of retards the FAI are, it's hardly a big deal. Let's try to keep some perspective!

Jzz "some of the players were in economy" not all of them, the players should be walking around as much as possible anyway to avoid deep vein thrombosis .. .

22 players walking around an airplane to avoid deep vein thrombosis on a three hour flight..........................

there are not enough dots in the world to express my disbelief at your argument

The FAI are (fill in your own blanks)...

Back to the game. Any away game for us is always frought with problems. Cyprus can be a turning point I hope. I figure we will score alright so it down to not sitting back and letting them come at us or imploding again. I cant see this happening as in fairness to Trap he is a past master at the 1-0 win. Also as we saw in the Italy game he took Keogh out of the equation when it wasnt working.

I think 1-0 or 2-1 to Ireland. A draw is not the end of the world but the win gives us hope and hopefully gets the monkey off our back.

The other two group games should also be watched closely Italy should beat Georgia away but the manner of the victory will be interesting. Also if Bulgaria drop any more points at home to Montenegro then that could be that and combined with 3 points for us in Cyprus the runner up spot should be within our control

Also Italy Bulgaria on Wed night might confirm us as runners up or set up a table topper game with Italy

I don't understand how people can compliment our defense, we haven't kept a clean sheet in the last 7 games and have conceded 11 goals in that time. The last time we did keep a clean sheet was against Cyprus at home in a game we probaly should have conceded in. I have zero confidence in us keeping Cyprus scoreless in Nicosia and so I think we need to score twice at the very least.

HashSlinging how can you side with/defend the FAI on this?

Its embarassing and it wouldnt happen in any other self respecting National Association.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,836 ✭✭✭Vokes

Its currently 36degC in Cyprus, so not feeling too confident about this one at all.

Reckon we'll nick an early goal but will be under the cosh for the rest of the game. Probably 1-1.

Ah yeah but the game is on at 9:30, it'll be around 20 degrees then. Not that bad.

Seriously I think the players should be given the government jet and the managers should go on a chartered economy flight half way around the world. However in this case it was clearly some admin fu*k up. Its sound like a load of prima donna shi*t, if the rugby lads or padrig harrington was "forced" to sit in econony im sure there wouldnt be a word about it.

Yeah, if the grand slam winning 6ft+ massive Rugby players were forced to go economy to an important 6 nations game or World Cup match, nothing would be said at all. Nothing.

    Stringer wouldn't mind.

    I'd say.
