old whey protein and creatine

I've a big tub of whey protein that's marked as best before september 2008.
I have the best part of a kilo of creatine that's not marked with an expiry date, but is probably about two years old. Haven't been to a gym for a while.
I seem to remember reading that these should both be ok to use if they have been stored properly, but that they would be less potent..the creatine will have partially turned into creatinine I think I remember reading.
They've both been stored in a cool dark place. I'm moving house in the morning. Wondering whether to throw them out or not!
Is there any chance of either being harmful to take at this stage?
Is there any point to keeping them or would they have degraded so much that they might as well be thrown out?
    Thanks

Think I'll throw out the whey and keep the creatine.
Reasons: They were both from the same source. Manufacturer saw fit to print the expiry on the protein, not the creatine. Random googling suggests that whey can possibly go rancid because of the fat content - there's about 6% fat in the whey I have so that's maybe enough.
Main reason: Need the space haha.
