wack off, sleep, get someone to bring you food of the fast food variety and if you have a girlfriend, get her to come over if she's not already there and do your bidding for the day.

Things not to do are wash, leave the house or get up.

before bed: Cold water(3-5 pints) Plus multivitamin.

Morning: More water + food and a reasonably cold shower.

    Works a treat she said!

I spent 3 weeks in America drinking every day bar 2 or 3 and the only hangover I got was the final day having to pack and go to the airport. So my advice would be arrange something that you'd really enjoy and the hangover will take care of itself.

Delaying the hangover can buy valuable time to get yourself hydrated and a bite to eat before the thought of food makes you sick. :) I've often had a night out, continued the next day until about 7 at night and then went home, had dinner and watched TV. I'd get very tired as the drink wore off but not really hungover.

I already have a dose of the garys from the night before. Orange juice isn't going to help the situation!

I walk half the way home before getting a taxi, fresh night air really sobers you up and lets you think about the nights happenings. Try to get someone to go with you though, dublin can be a nasty place for a drunk that stumbles into a thorn bush at 4 in the morning last weekend(like me)

Also downing water is a big plus.

time anyone buys a drink, make yours a pint of tap water, and make your only drink the tap water all night, let the booze work its magic on the lucky member of the opposite sex who may be the target of your affections..and wake up the next day, happy as all water drinkers every where

hooray for the wonder that is water..

The first you should do is stop drinking that much. If you can't do it, then have a beer after you wake up. It'll taste like Hell but you'll feel better. Don't use it as an excuse to keep on drinking for the day though. Otherwise, drink loads of water and a warm to cold shower or bath. This will give your body the water it needs.

I wouldn't take tablets or milk if I were you.
Taking tablets with large amounts of alcohol still on your body will damage your Liver.
Taking milk might damage your stomach as it becomes hard on it.

    Vitamin C Water and/or Lucozade

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 5,671 ✭✭✭BraziliaNZ

being prone to terrible benders at least once a week, i gave up years ago on hangover cures. Basically I'm sick for 2 days after a proper bender. There are some comforts though - savoury food, cold drinks, beer, etc. But there is no cure for hangovers, full stop, maybe some things that make it not quite as painful, but you gotta take the low with the high.

I find if you take the vitamin C before going to bed the hangover is much less severe.....

"Hair of the dog" works if you can stomach it. Waking up with a rotten hangover, stone cold sober and then have one or two beers (if thats what you were drinking), it will settle your stomach and a lot of the other hangover symptoms.

I dont know the science behind it but I've done it a few times with some terrible hangovers.

There's more to a hangover than just dehydration, many factors can cause a sick feeling the next day.

Sticking to vodka helps a lot. Other drinks contain all sorts of nasty shit that is removed from vodka in the distillation/filtration process (you didn't think that leaving fruit/cereal to rot for six months left just alcohol did you?).

Mix it down well (to avoid dehydration) and avoid drinking loads of sugary drinks.
Alcohol fucks around with your blood sugar levels (in fact a large part of the hangover feeling is caused by low blood sugar), and i have found drinking 2 litres of coke to be highly regrettable the next morning.
Weak-ish squash makes a good non high-sugar mixer, it doesn't taste amazing but it's easy to get down (alcohol was never about the taste anyway ;)).
I have found miwaidi orange and pineapple to be the best at masking the taste, blackcurrant is just plain inferior.

As other posters have said, keeping hydrated is important. Have a few glasses of water throughout the night. When you get home have one or two glasses of water and one of those dissolveable B-vitamin thingys (as alcohol depletes certain b-vitamins).

And now the obvious; Drink less. It's easier than it sounds. Think about it, if the bar is closing in half an hour, what's the point in having another drink? to enjoy the journey home? will it really add that much to your overall enjoyment of the night?

The next morning, drink a glass of water and have a big breakfast (even if you don't feel like it) including fruit juice and a source of protein (scrambled eggs or a protein shake are good). The protein helps stop your blood-sugar from crashing later on. Have a shower and then drink an energy drink and go about your day.

Lack of sleep is another important factor, although i guess there's not much you can do except try not to be already behind on sleep before you go out.

When i started drinking i used to get the worst hangovers, the type that leave you on the couch in agony for the whole day. So i did some research, changed my habits and now I barely notice anything :).

If you want to protect your liver try drinking some milk thistle before you go out, and then again when you get home.. It actually helps your hangover too.

Berocca before and after I go out seems to help a lot :)

Don't stop drinking... Best cure :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,813 ✭✭✭TPD

Drink about 3 pints of water before bed, take a piss, drink another pint, sleep, and wake up with a pint of water beside you to cure the dry mouth. After about 45 minutes of rolling around and sipping, you're grand.
