...would you REALLY be willing to kill them.

I hear it said a lot, often think it myself, but when it came to it, could you find it in your person to seek revenge?

They'd be stuffed into the back of a van in various plastic bags and then buried in the mountains.

That would be after the blow torch and pliers treatment.

Don't brand me as a keyboard warrior, I would have no qualms about carrying this out.

    Probably

Its a hypothetical though.. nobody knows how they'd react to something like that

Has an abuser ever been killed by the family of a child?

When it happens you'd probably just be relieved that your kid was OK and that the abuser was caught

    Yes.

The initial reaction of course is "I'm gonna kill such and such". But honestly, I don't think many people would actually commit murder over it.

Of course your kids are very precious to you and your instinct would be to cause serious or fatal harm to this person.

I would do whatever is neccesary to protect my son. Until the situation arose I couldn't truthfully comment on what is, and isn't neccesary.

As someone has pointed out, it may change your outlook on things and you may react differently.. personally I know I would act accordingly... I would imagine though the actual situation would of driven me to do something terrible.

    I won't.
Your a sick and twisted psychopath.

We all say we would kill, but deep down we want the perpertrator to pay.
And prison is the only legal way.
Saying that, i would assault them at least for my own gratitude.

Given the amount of protection that these people get, before they get locked up, it's probably best to rely on their fellow inmates to do the job afterwards. If that doesn't get rid of them, send em an anthrax pie.

I hope I never find myself asking that question.

Nah, I'd probably thank them for saving me the bother of doing it myself.

My instinct would be to kill them for sure! Every fibre of my being would want to kill them slowly and painfully

But I would hope that I would have the level headedness not to - wouldn't be much use to the kid(s) locked up for life. Plus the abuser would have ruined 2 lives (or more) then.

Also......death is actually too good........for them would be just me making myself feel better.

All said though can understand how/why a parent would or could in that situation.

    Yes.

They would be drawn and quartered and I would feed their dirty carcass to piranhas.

i doubt many people would, i know i wouldn't. most people would go to the authorities, as is expected in a civil society. if a parent decided to take the law into his/her own hands, they are endangering the other children/themselves.

i would leave it to the appropriate authorities to hand out what ever justice they thought correct.

The **** would never walk again though.

Would probably say no, although unless it happened, no one really knows what they are capable of doing.

There is no point in ruining your life - the main thing is that you are going to be there for the child

    Yes, I would kill Synper.

Judging by the amount of paedophiles and rapists who are alive, either locked up or free, I'd suggest that a tiny fraction of parents would actually follow through with the threat of killing anyone who harmed their child.

I personally cannot understand how men who are serial offenders have not been put to sleep by either the victim or the family of one of the victims.

I of course would be someone who'd say that I'd kill/serious harm anyone who harmed my kid, but I'm sure that many others have.. I wonder why they didn't carry through with the act though?

Did they learn to forgive? Was the fear of being caught too much?

    Its a strange one alright.

No, I wouldn't. I'd probably be more concerned in helping my child deal with the grief and the pain caused. Moving away from the area where it took place would probably be on the cards also.
I hear it said a lot, often think it myself, but when it came to it, could you find it in your person to seek revenge?

I personally couldn't. I think some people probably could. However you have to ask when does the point of punishment stop being punishment, and when does it start to feel as if you are abusing the one who you are taking revenge on?

You wouldn't be much good to your kid in prison. Something they would probably blame themselves for.

In the Bedroom is a great film on this topic.

I find it morbid even dwelling on the question, tbh.

I'm probably the softest person i know, I cry over half dead starlings and bring them to the vet, I gave my rabbit mouth to mouth trying to save him :p but I would have no hesitation taking someones life if they hurt my children tbh.

I'd probably make them suffer a bit but i wouldnt drag it out too long, a bullet in the head while they are begging for their life. hmmmm

I'm morbid by nature anyway, fascinated by serial killers

While it might be an initial instinct, it would probabaly be the last thing the child would want. I do wish the law would deal with this situation in a better way though. i can understand why someone would feel driven to this!

Yeah, but all this public revenge porn is more about the avenging parent than the child.

i'm not holding you to this post, just making the point that most people i know say something similar. then i ask, "you will literally try to get away with murder?"
they all stop talking nonsense and agree that they wouldn't do anything, not even hit the guy...unless caught in the act

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭ronkmonster

Yes, but it wouldn't be slow. Torturing would just make me and bad as them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,021 ✭✭✭LadyE

Id like to say I would, but like previous posters have said I wouldnt be much use to my children whilst in prison.

Id make sure they were locked up, and let it be known in the prison what the little fooker had done. And he'd pay :D Apparently they don't take kindly to pedophiles in prison :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,564 ✭✭✭Daroxtar

I'd paralyse and blind them, killing is too quick and final. Anyone who has a child would be very likely to do similar. And it wouldn't be for revenge, it would be to absolutely make sure they could never do it to anyone else again.

I've punched holes in the plaster and splintered my bedroom door from bouts of rage (hissy fits tbh). On each occasion, the second after I'd done the damage I was overcome with remorse, and with the wonderful benefit of hindsight wished I could turn back time a few seconds. It's a horrible feeling and I've since learned to curb my temper.

You can't go down to Homebase to buy something that will a human back to life. If I had even one moment clarity I couldn't go ahead with killing a person. I think when it comes down to it most people would be the same unless, as mentioned earlier, they caught the perpetrator in the act.

It's one of the old aged question! Would you kill?
Personally no I wouldn I make sure justice was done in the courts

But I can't speak for everyone, I'm sure there are people out there who would seek revenge, but what would be the point? How would the child feel knowing that their father/mother was now locked up over it? How would that help them deal with it
