Do you get on with your siblings?

I sometimes feel guilty that my family is not like the Brady Bunch where everyone gets on well with one another.
I come from a big family with lots of different dyads.

I am the youngest and am often compared to elder successful siblings, which leads to resentment, although it's not the actual siblings' fault.

I often think my personality has been seriously affected, for better or worse, by my early relationship with my sibs, and that if I had been an only child, I would be much different.

Nowadays, I get on well with some, do not speak to others. I don't have a problem with some, but nevertheless would not normally phone or text them.

Just wondering how rare or common it is to have a fragmented family like this?

Are you glad you have brothers n' sisters, or are you indifferent?

I get on great with my sister and two of my brothers, the other one is a twat and drives me mad.

I'm the youngest too but generally my siblings are compared to me because I do most things first and did way better in school than they did.

I'm the oldest so the rest have to bask in my superiority and favoritism at family gatherings.

I always get my dinner first at those things too, lol

but yeah, I get on with my siblings

Have three brothers and a sister. Two older, two younger. We are all very different with different views and passions but get on well.
I'll be the most successful though. ;)

    im the youngest of 8.

get on great with three of them, would be in contact on a very regular basis, alternate days or more. i count them as very close friends.

the eldest in the family is 18 years older than me, so i dont know him all that well. he's grand, and we get on fine, we just wouldnt be very close. having said that, if i was in trouble and needed him, he'd be there in a shot, and vice versa.

one sis i dont really get on with, but i tolerate her for my parents sake, more than anything else.

another brother, i am just rebuilding a relationship with, after a long falling-out.

and the final one is a bit tricky - regular contact, but a bit wary of her and wouldnt trust her.

still, 3 great friends out of 7, thats not too bad, imo.

have 3 brothers all younger than me.......we all get on fine now, but when we all lived at home we did beat the crap out of each other. we dont see loads of each other, but i always know they are there for me if i need them, and me for them!!!

One brother, Love him to bits.
He wrecks my head at the best of times, but he'll always be my lil bro.
We couldn't be more different, but thats what makes it fun!

I dont really get along with my immediate family my dads gf is 2 years older than me & shes a complete twat so rather than argue with him about her Ive just blanked him, my mum is ill so I dont really see her. My sister is an arrogant twat & my brother is a mirror image of my dad.
Im just perfect:rolleyes: Not really but Im the kind of person that If someone bothers me I just stop giving them the time of day. Im not losing out on much, my family arent very supportive of me & my decisions.

I have two half siblings. I've only met my brother once, and he was...well...on the road to being an average American, something which is frankly horrifying. I've only met my sister three times, and she's alright. Typical 16 year old- she tried to impress me by telling me how many drugs she did and how many guys she'd slept with. At this rate it'll be my mother all over again

Although I think she was lying.

I have a younger sister and a younger brother. Have the odd argument with my brother over stupid things and a lot of it is to do with me being over protective but it's never drawn out and normally cleared up straight away but when it comes down to it I would do anything for him.

My sister on the other hand I can't stand, she always craves to be the centre of attention and is loud and obnoxious. Never got along even when we were younger and everyone used to blame me but as we got older people started to see her for what she was. To avoid arguing I try keep away from her.

Yup, though they're both still terrified of me from when I used to beat the crap out of them when we were little (even though they're bigger and stronger than me now :()

i'm the yo9ungest of 4 and there's a pretty big gap between me and the rest (i'm adament i wasnt an accident...)

really lucky in that i get on brilliantly with them and two of them are like my best friends

when i hit 18 we decided to have one night a week where we'd meet for beers no matter what. 10 years later we still do it

3 older brothers. One's one of my best friends. I get on really well with another - today he told me he bought me Editors tickets just for the lulz. The last one is very different to me, we get on ok and I have a lot of respect for him but we wouldn't be all that chummy.

    Cool guys. I feel lucky.

I could go months without talking to any of my siblings. Hell I've gone months without talking to my parents. Would normally speak to my parents once a week, maybe see them once a month or so, but could go 6 months without seeing any of my sisters.

Doesn't really make a difference to me to be honest.

    2 older sisters.

Eldest is married with a child. They call out about once a week. I do get on well with her and my bro in law but I feel awkward around my nephew because I'm terrible with kids. The rest of the family dote on him a lot more than I do.

My other sister I fight with more often, probably because we're so alike! We had a huge fight last year that dragged on for a few months but that's all in the past. Overall we get on really well though.

All in all, I'm lucky in that the three of us (plus the bro in law) get on really well in general.

Im the eldest of three. Only boy. Oldest sister always acted like she was my mother, drove me mad until she moved out. Now we get on fine, she'd do anything for anybody without looking for anything in return. Little sister is one of the funniest people I have ever met. She gave a speech at her wedding which had me laughing so much I had to watch the DVD twice to see if it really was as funny as I thought. It was! The most remarkable thing about the speech was the fact that up to then she barely ever uttered two words together in public.

    Two younger sisters.

We have residual sibling issues because they had to help with housework while I lorded it around under the loving gaze of Mother.

Only child. Sometimes I think I missed out. Other times I don't. Would be nice to have a younger brother I got on with though. Saying that I'd probly end up hating him.

    Meh.

I have one little brother (although he's not so little, he's 6'5") but he's great! We have nothing in common, other than our love for slagging off our parents! :)
