im fine thanks. yeah the million year feeling is a recurring theme in psni recruitment. you'll have to wait about a million years on just about every stage in this process lol

im the same, its more of a personal battle for me now lol was over a year ago that i did my AC and im still clinging on, with everything passed, borderline merit pool score and still no phone call :(

    Hey Good luck mate!

I know the 50/50 is a PITA, as we lose good strong candidates that way....but persistance will pay off!

No way around it unless you do a Tony Blair....

If it is meant for you it won't pass you by.

    :)hi..

have my a/c in a few weeks... i have been reading the posts but i think they've just been confusing me more... i'm wondering a few tings...

is preparing for the a/c just like preparing for the garda interviews where your asked to give examples of personal situations?? or are you told your this person and what would be your response??

also to do with the ist... does it make a difference if you get your scores or not as i havent got mine in the post or asked for them...

finally im still in college finishing out a four year unwanted degree in civil engineering but i have my final year to do in september! providing all goes well and im accepted do you think it will be a year until your call from now to start training as i just want some sort of degree to fall back on if worst happens...

also any tips for the a/c as readin the posts have just freaked me out about it??:(

    thanks

the whole ac revolves around you being playing a particular role in a particular situation- written test, roleplays and situational interview. so yeah in a way, as you said, your told that your this person and have to give your views on particular situations.

with regard to the IST theres mixed views as to what impact it has on the merit pool. its obviously in your interest to do well throughout the whole process. as far as im aware the IST does count towards your merit pool placing.

from now, theres probably a good chance that your still gonna be waiting this time next year unless you completely ace the AC and are really high up in the merit pool. on here alone we have people at 16months already, still waiting.

Patience will be a major strength in the process lol

AC tips - read your letter and the table on it before each roleplay/test/interview so you know what skillset your being assessed on. Aside from that, try to stay calm, get a good nights sleep before hand and when possible draw on any real life experience you have thats possibly going to help you out.

    hope this helps :)

Have my AC very soon , I know that Mobile phones are not permitted but is it ok to bring one in your bag and just be careful not to use it while at the Hotel ? I am expecting an important call that evening and really need my phone later on.

You hand your phone over at the start of the day and get it back when a/c is over.

    HTH :)

At my ac they took them off you and labelled them. You get them back at the end. If you have an important call tell them that you will be uncontactable between such and such a time...Dont put your ac at stake by checking your mobile that you didnt hand in. Theyre very strict about it. Understandably so.

Had my AC today - very well organised and out in around 3.5 hours. I expected to be thinking along the lines of '' I wish I had said this or that , etc '' the fact is I'm not as I cant think of anything I could have done better / differently - either a very good sign or a very bad sign , can't decide which

medical invite and vetting forms came through day before yesterday. It says I've passed AC but won't find out score for another couple of weeks. Is anyone else in the same boat? The medical is very close - seems that they're not hanging around for once!

I had put this out of my head after they told us it would be 2 months til results time but I have a feeling I am gonna be stalking my postbox now!

Oh my god. This has never happened during my time on the forum. Super well done, you must have score like really high.

    Whats you background?

Jill - i think I was on the same day as you if memory serves right - the forms I got are from this campaign - the last time I applied was 3 yrs ago and I didn't even get past the IST!!

PYG - I was one of the first to take the AC so it could be any amount of factors that meant I got the forms early, hopefully it means I scored well but I wouldn't think that would affect it. Background is RC, have a career in sales so that probably helped my chances in the AC. It is nice to have another hurdle crossed though. Best of luck to everyone else waiting on the forms and medical date and I'll keep you guys updated if I hear anything else.

God super well done Bubba, I really do reckon the highest scores will be getting the letters first - especially if it includes an immediate medical invite!!

Oh, my poor postman. If only he knows what he's in for this week

Thanks bubba. I had the first ac last year and had vetting forms 2 weeks later(June 08), but only just had my medical in May. You must have done really well. Pass the both soon and you will be in GV with the end of us C14ers. Id be well chuffed if i were you.

God PYG, if I were you I'd be climbing up the walls being made to wait so long for a medical date!

It is so damn frustrating - I am currently trying to decide whether to put in an application for GMP (recruiting tomorrow) as I don't know if it is worth the waiting around for PSNI given the slim chance of even getting in at the end of it all (especially as I am non-RC) - I don't know what to do! If I got the letter this week with a medical invite, I'd stay with PSNI for sure - but if I don't, is it worth waiting around inevitably when you could be accepted elsewhere in 3-6 months? Help!

I was meant to have my AC for GMP there on the 3rd July. I didnt go. I applied before christmas and that was only me getting AC invite. Though they had been in touch before hand saying I had passed first stage. Go for it. Nothing to lose.

Did they know you were doing simultaneous applications? If they are ok with that then theres no question and I'll apply - but I don't really want to have to make a choice right now!

Interesting that the process is so slow with them too though....

You can have a PSNI and UK force application running side by side. You arent allowed 2 UK force applications running at the same time.

Ps- the application form took me a few days to complete.
